You're a small animal, lets say a cat. Tell me why you would do this?

So you're not a massive animal. You're about 7 or 8lb. You're not as big as a human for example, not even a child size human

And theres this thing called a Kingsize bed. Its very big. Its 5x6 foot. And you are probably only about a foot long spralled out.

So you can sleep anywhere on that bed, lots of space, huge amount of space for you.

But you choose the small spot where clean washing is put, ready to be put away.

Why do you do that? Why there when the bed is huge and you can sleep any where on it?

It's part of my territory. By sleeping on it, I mark it with my scent. You do realise that as the Cat, I am the most important being in the house, so I will do whatever I wish😁😽😹😼

I’m surprised you think you have the right to ask.

CherrySocks · 15/05/2024 22:07

Someone keeps spoiling my scent with clean washing smells

Pixiedust1234 · 15/05/2024 22:07

Clean washing doesn't smell of me. I need to put my scent on it so I know it's mine and not that dickhead tom from next door.

It is also extra fluffy (and possibly slightly warm) from the tumble dryer/sunshine.

It is also because I can.

Sorry about leaving my fur behind but, ya know, try brushing me once in a while 😉

If I fits, I sits 🧐

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 15/05/2024 22:12

I think they see something which is a different shade/texture and automatically think it is higher. Put a piece of paper on the bed and they will sit on that.

NoraLuka · 15/05/2024 22:16

Hang on, I’m already kind enough to let you live in my house and now I can’t even sleep where I want in peace?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 15/05/2024 22:17

Because you've clearly laid out a special padded bed for their Imperial Being.

MrsJackThornton · 15/05/2024 22:18

Layers

Cats like to sleep on as many layers as possible

NewMe2024 · 15/05/2024 22:20

Shh human, I’m sleeping.

CurlewKate · 15/05/2024 22:21

I realised a while ago that our dog likes to sleep on dirty washing because it smells so deliciously of us, and our cat likes to sleep on clean washing because why wouldn't you?

Toddlerteaplease · 15/05/2024 22:22

Used to have to sleep diagonally as cheddar would be on one side and Penelope by my feet on the other side.

PickAChew · 15/05/2024 22:23

It's comfy. And a bit lumpy. I need to flatten it.

OpusGiemuJavlo · 15/05/2024 22:23

Is the clean washing by any chance a little bit warmer than the rest of the bed? Whether from being ironed or recently tumble dried or recently out in the sunshine I bet it's a little warmer than the duvet. I like warm.

Iamacatslave · 15/05/2024 22:24

Because I can.

Ormally · 15/05/2024 22:24

Because you laid that out especially for me. You can have the rest, if you're good.

PickAChew · 15/05/2024 22:25

It's probably also related to the cats sitting in squares phenomenon.

Twilight7777 · 15/05/2024 22:26

I am the princess and the pea, the more layers the better 🐱

murasaki · 15/05/2024 22:26

Because i can. And I'm so handsome you won't mind really. And because I can.

MrsJackThornton · 15/05/2024 22:27

Also did you iron the clothes? If not you really should, it makes them even warmer, and I like to sit on nice smooth layers so I can rumpled them up into the most satisfying shape

AlisonDonut · 15/05/2024 22:27

Who are you and why are you typing so loudly?

QueSyrahSyrah · 15/05/2024 22:28

Meanwhile, the king of our house has an entire super-king bed to recline on, and sleeps on the exact spot where my feet should be, unless I sleep diagonally or curled up in a ball, which of course I do, because he's the king.

Mine could've had the choice of a king sized bed, 2 huge settees, a big footstool or the lovely cat bed he had. Nope apparently the tiny kitchen windowsill was the perfect place to fall asleep. That might have been if he was a slender Cat. He wasn't he was 16lb+ so what actually happened was about a quarter of him was on the windowsill and the rest of him flopped over the side. He was soon woken up and dragged into the bedroom under much protest 😹
