I am the original owner of Peppa the kitten found in the rain in October 2022..we got him a friend who sadly passed away and then I disappeared from... well everything. Unfortunately I lost my husband and everything came crashing down as things usually do. My daughter is now a very active 4 and a half year old. We do still have darling Peppa who has been a source of comfort and support. The reason I'm posting now is I was browsing mumsnet for some advice on school. Yes I'm one of those people now and came upon my thread on classics. And well... decided to update.

Sorry for your loss Pepper looks cuddly

gladwhiskers · 13/05/2024 15:53

So sorry for all you've been through. I remember Peppa and it's great to have an update.

LostCats · 13/05/2024 16:10

Oh my gosh! Welcome back!
I am so very sorry for your loss and so glad Peppa has been a comfort.

peppareturns212 · 13/05/2024 16:19

He is a proper cat now. He has been a comfort. He's an absolute pest and he is on a reluctant diet. The vet says he's solid which I think is code for putting a bit of weight on

He’s just beautiful. 💐

Osllo · 13/05/2024 18:06

I remember your thread. Thanks for updating, Peppa is a beauty.

sydsmum · 13/05/2024 19:16

I loved following your original Peppa thread and thinking you were a lovely lady for taking responsibility for Peppa. So sorry for your loss, and so grateful for your update.

Pudmyboy · 13/05/2024 19:28

I remember Peppa @peppareturns212 ! Thank you for returning and giving us fans an update but I am so sorry to hear the reason why you went quiet.💐
I totally get him being both a pest and a comfort! Is he still bonded with your 4yr old?

ilovesooty · 13/05/2024 19:37

He's beautiful

Toddlerteaplease · 13/05/2024 20:04

I loved your original thread. So sorry to hear about your husband. Is that really the same cat?!!!

peppareturns212 · 13/05/2024 20:25

He is completely my daughters cat. She had him in a bonnet yesterday in her dolls pram pushing him around. I even look at him funny and he swipes.

Yes I do still question whether the 400 gram soggy kitten I rescued from the rain is now the almost 5kg cat sprawled across my sofa demanding food about every 10 minutes

He's a true comfort. He's a pain. Don't get me wrong. But he's worth it. I was cuddled up with him yesterday. I love laying next to him hearing him purr. He sounds like a little motor.

He stays inside. He's too precious to go outside plus he's scared of his own shadow so he's my little indoor boy. Honestly I could gush about him for hours

Oh I remember your thread! Little Peppa. You posted a photo of him really early on and his fur was all sticking up from the rain 😍 He was this gorgeous little thing, and now he's a gorgeous giant, thank you for the update.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I hope things have got a little easier for you and your DD.

CatChant · 13/05/2024 20:47

I am so sorry for your loss.

Thank you for the update on Peppa. He is still beautiful and it is good to hear he is repaying your kindness to him by looking after you.

Take care.

He's a sweetie. He spends hours cleaning his fur and then my daughter inevitably covers him in kisses and loves and he let's out this sigh and starts furiously cleaning again

He hates water, the neighbour hood black cat (they stare at each other menacingly thru the window) and being left alone. I now work from home and when I drop my daughter off at school he meows at the front door like I'm leaving for 3 years. Then throws himself at me when I'm back

Someone commented on my old post that male cats are softies when they are neutered. He was neutered at 6 months and he's such a softie. He is scared of his own shadow. He saw his reflection in the mirror the other day and he poofed all his fur out like a puffer fish and cried for about an hour.

He collects tags off clothes. And he likes little toy fish. We have about a thousand.

Losing my husband was devastating and my daughter still doesn't understand. I don't think she can..she's very young. But Peppa has given her some stability. He goes to bed with us. We bed share. It's a comfort for me and my child. And if I wake in the night she might be awake. She tells peppa everything. He never leaves her side. I never knew animals could be so intuitive but she told him about her first day ar school and how she misses her dad. And he just sat there and as daft as it sounds It was like he was listening. Weird I know. But Peppa is her best friend.

Oh yes! I remember Peppa, that is still the perfect name for that cat.

You'll always be welcome to gush about him in here, it is the Litter Tray and if you can't do it here...

TheLongRider · 13/05/2024 21:30

Cats definitely listen to their special humans. My very bonded boy is lying on me at the moment purring gently.

TemporaryCatSlave · 13/05/2024 22:13

I'm so glad that Peppa has been there for you & your daughter during what must have been such a terrible time. Cats really are so much more empathetic than they are given credit for.

It is amazing that these little scraps of fur grow into such hefty loving beasts. I remember your first post when you found him all wet, hissy & pissed off! He's such a handsome chap now and so lovely your daughter has him to talk to especially after her life has been so upended and changed. Also so good that get that purry motor love - it's the best when feeling down.

Ellmau · 13/05/2024 22:41

I remember the original thread. So sorry about your husband, but Peppa sounds like he's been a wonderful comfort. And such a good friend for your DD.

Blueuggboots · 13/05/2024 22:47

Ohhh Peppa!!! I remember your thread so well. I'm so sorry to hear about your DH.

DuchessDandelion · 13/05/2024 23:01

I was wondering about you all & Peppa just the other day!

I am so deeply sorry to read about your husband, no words for what you all must have gone through FlowersFlowers

Peppa was always a special character and his bond with your daughter was clear from the start - I'm glad she's still dressing him up in bonnets! And that you both have him to pour your hearts out to.

viques · 13/05/2024 23:11

He is lovely. I like a chunky cat. Your vet is very diplomatic. Last time B got weighed she said he needed to lose a bit, I said, “ He’s big boned though”
( yes I know, classic denial) and she said, “ No, he’s fat!”

I think it is clear that Peppa has given you so much in the last few years, and I am so pleased that you have had his company and love to sustain you through such bad times. I hope your little family continues to grow and heal together.

Snozzlemaid · 13/05/2024 23:50

How lovely to read your update. I remember your previous thread about Pepper.
So sorry to hear about your DH.
Sounds like Pepper really was sent to you and your dd for a reason.
