Does anyone have an implement to open the living room door to let the cat out without getting off the sofa?

As it says, our cat comes in and out 20 times a night and I have to get up to let them out.
Does anyone have a tool to enable me to open the door without leaving my sofa?
I don't want to have another cat flap.
TIA

Didn’t it ever occur to you to move your sofa next to the door.?

I'm a lazy arse so I usually text DS1. He is cat mad and I will text; 'Dcat needs you to let her out'.

Bingo.

He's wise up eventually I'm sure. But in the meantime...

I don't shut it tight but I wish he had the decency after a grand entrance of flinging the door open that he would turn around and close it.

@RollsBapsCobs When I was little we had a cat that would launch itself off the back of a chair and swing on the door handle to open the door. I don't know who taught it but it's evidently possible!

We leave the door ajar a very specific amount. Just the width of the cat's head so she can slink in and out without moving it. We even have a special name for it. It's called catajar 😹
