I'm amazed that the first thread has filled up. So he's another thread about the inmates of Toddler Towers!

Penelope is still refusing to come off the windowsill, but is much happier. Paddington is currently paying a visit to my my friend in a nursing home, en route to the vets to get his microchip scanned. I used to take, Cheddar in occasionally. Taking Penelope is a no no, she's too nervous. I've left them unsupervised with the bedroom door open and there does t seem to be any issues.
How is your new house @Soubriquet

Cramped..you don’t realise how much crap you have till you move! But it’s a lovely house.

Toots is cuddled up with me under the duvet whilst dh and his friends move all the large goods.

She won’t move now till they leave. She’s not a people person really.

How much longer should I carry on with the litter tray & food in my room for Pen? She's much happier, but still won't come out of the room. But she actually had no need to, so it's catch 22!

I would carry on for longer, if you do it too soon you risk stress weeing and protest toileting which can be hard habits to break.

I'm 3 and a half years in with my tricky rescue and she still has food in my bedroom!

Toddlerteaplease · 22/05/2024 22:51

I walked In to the house this evening to a strong smell of cat pee. Think it's the rug. But can't find a tell tale damp patch, and the smell wasn't there when I went out.

Paddington sounds like the perfect Therapy Cat.

But I do hope Pen comes to the same conclusion soon.

TheHavanaCats · 23/05/2024 07:15

Cat wee shows up very strongly under UV light - we have a wee UV torch and occasionally go round the house at night checking corners!

They're about a fiver on Amazon - well worth it so you know where exactly it is to clean it.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/05/2024 08:30

@TheHavanaCats I had one of those. I think I might still have it.

I think Pen also needs to stop leaping on to the bed from the windowsill, if Pads is on the bed. He doesn't appreciate it and it turns into a fight. 🙄😬

I would leave her as she is until she’s fully accepted Mr Paddington. I’m having to do the same thing with Toots. Her litter tray, food, scratch post etc is all in my room until she gets used to the move. I actually have a dome cat bed under my duvet for her to hide in. She spends all day hiding in her bed and then comes out at night time to eat, use the litter tray and what not. She’s settling but not quite settled. She’s left the room for like 5 seconds before running back into her dome.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/05/2024 11:58

Paddington went for Penelope twice this morning any ideas he I can stop him doing that. Fortunately she doesn't seem too stressed, but it's not nice for her. I slipped getting out of the shower to stop it. Am now sore and bruised!

Oh no!!!! No advice really here but I hope you’re ok

Toddlerteaplease · 24/05/2024 12:13

I'm swapping the Feliway optimum for Feliway friends to see if that helps.

What a shame they were getting on OK. is there anything you can rig up high up that Penelope can get to being small but Paddington cannot as he is bigger- like some shelf or cat tree? Sounds like hierarchical aggression rather than play- has he stopped using her litter tray?

Toddlerteaplease · 24/05/2024 13:10

She sits on the bedroom
Window sill. So she's always above him. And if she sleeps on my bed, she's o. My pillow and he's at the other end. She's still using the litter tray and eating well. Very purry and friendly still.

I dunno. I think he is clearly asserting his dominance. Mine does that sometimes and I tell\\\\\\ [thank you big boy] him off.

They change like a wounded bull but maybe a behaviourist?

Toddlerteaplease · 24/05/2024 13:31

I tell him off and fuss her.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/05/2024 13:33

I do too.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/05/2024 21:22

I evicted Penelope and sent her out for some fresh air in the garden. Letting her get used to Paddington's smell in the living room.

He's a bit chonky Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 26/05/2024 09:35

@Guiltypleasures001 yes. I was surprised that he only weighs 4.5kg. He's big rather than fat. He'd got a better waist than I have. He was neutered late.
