I'm amazed that the first thread has filled up. So he's another thread about the inmates of Toddler Towers!

He's the messiest cat ever. Food and litter all over the floor!

Least he’s settling in well?

Is he your first male?

Toddlerteaplease · 15/05/2024 10:28

Yes, first boy. Although most of our childhood cats were boys. Probably explains why he's so untidy.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 15/05/2024 10:40

Sounds typical for boy cats!

Toddlerteaplease · 15/05/2024 10:42

I've left them unsupervised at home, but I very much doubt I'll go home to carnage. Unless Pads has got into the toy box again. 🤣 no idea where he was this morning!

(Obviously wouldn't have done that if I was concerned about fighting. But he seems completely non confrontational!)

The messiness does sound like a boy. The mess Eko makes with his food is unreal. And water too actually. He can’t just drink like a normal cat, he has to fire it everywhere. But it must enhance the experience as he taught Boone to do it too 🙄

Soubriquet · 15/05/2024 12:44

Yes I agree that boys do tend to be messier. I once had a boy cat piss in my shoe Angry. I didn’t even know till I was out and about and couldn’t work out why I could smell cat pee

Scampuss · 15/05/2024 13:14

My female cats have been the messiest!

Toddlerteaplease · 15/05/2024 13:17

I banned Pen from food in jelly as she is so messy with that. But he's on another level. I'm going to admit defeat on trying to get them
On to better food and stock up
Oh Sheba. I put Harringtons out for Paddington, as that's what he brought with him. He ate the Sheba instead. And Penelope point black refuses any thing else.

I find it’s easier to feed cats what they will eat unless it’s a medical condition. My cat eats gourmet, but if you buy those little mini ones in the orange packets she refuses. I think she knows they are cheaper. She has meowing heads or a rumbles for dry biscuits

Cats gonna cat!! Even dh had to admit defeat. He kept insisting on buying the mon petit cos it was cheaper then was getting frustrated because the cat refused to eat it and kept bugging for food. Now I order the 40 pack of gourmet. Works out to be around £20 for the 40 so yeah.

Scampuss · 15/05/2024 14:31

Haha Soub mine will only eat the mini gourmet pouches (and by that I mean insist on a pouch, lick it, ignore it, and maybe lick it again a couple of hours later if it's still down). She's a former semi-feral and the fussiest, least interested in food, cat I've ever had.

Grin

bloody cats

Toddlerteaplease · 15/05/2024 15:04

She really likes the ones in gravy, which of course you can't get on the big multipacks.

Soubriquet · 15/05/2024 15:25

Ah toots is like that. All her wet food is in gravy

Anniegetyourgun · 15/05/2024 15:35

I tried Mon Petit for Izzy (also former semi-feral) because she's a dainty little miss who doesn't eat very much of anything. She didn't like it. It's called "intense" so I wonder whether the flavour is too strong or something - she doesn't seem interested in flavours you'd expect to be stronger, such as beef. She does like Sheba and Gourmet Perle, whether jelly, gravy or sauce. Thrifty will hoover up pretty much anything meaty in texture, but neither of them will do more to paté or mousse style foods than a cautious lick. DSis's cats did well out of my initial experimenting.

I chop jelly ones up with a fork to reduce the amount they can pull out to eat on the carpet. It doesn't completely stop Izzy but she doesn't make too much of a mess. Thrifty doesn't leave anything anyway (chomp chomp chomp).

Toddlerteaplease · 15/05/2024 16:45

I also tried the mon petit stuff as a treat. That was a flat no.

OP posts:
Soubriquet · 15/05/2024 17:22

There must be something about that mon petit.

SoDoffYourHat · 15/05/2024 18:48

My sister's cat won't eat anything but Mon Petit!

Soubriquet · 15/05/2024 19:21

How queer!

Toddlerteaplease · 16/05/2024 00:32

I've just broken up the first punch up. Penelope has finally ventured downstairs. Not sure who was the aggressor. Can't find Paddington and Penelope is sitting on the kitchen windowsill.

Ellmau · 16/05/2024 00:51

Oh dear, hopefully just a case of working out their boundaries and who is boss.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/05/2024 09:51

Penelope seems quite nervous. Although Paddington seems chilled. Someone tell be this is going to be ok! I k ow I've rushed the introduction, but he just wouldn't stay in the spare room. I've got separate litter trays, but he made a beeline for hers and his hasn't been touched.
