......... Silent Night.........

Well, maybe not so silent when there's a cat about who wants to be fed.

Join us in the run up to Christmas 2023!

Grumpy- any news?
Thanks for asking. The water seems to have peaked (as of yesterday afternoon) which is very good news. Hasn't started going down yet though. So we are warm and dry in the house albeit with some VERY bad tempered cats 😾😾😾😾.

Four bored cats.

Poor old Linney had blood tests today because he's been drinking more than usual.

He hasn't lost weight though, so we're hoping it's nothing serious.

Thinking of you all Grumpy. Hope Noye’s Fludde ends soon. Sympathies.

Time for a day or two spent in contemplation of the world, kitties.

LostCats · 09/01/2024 18:18

Ah that is good news Grumpy! Was worried it was still going up and going to get into the house!
Although the enforced lock-in for TC may cause him to redouble efforts as the waters subside…

Shell, I do hope it’s nothing serious. Do let us know. Will be holding paws for him

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 09/01/2024 19:13

@TheShellBeach as I've been saying elsewhere it is often the kidneys that go first and particularly with current medical care they can have years more of normality. That isn’t to minimise and I’ve got velvet with her (I would say little but they probably make up a quarter of her weight) paws crossed.
let us know what the results are and how you feel about it. Bit of a weird one to shove on a cat thread but I’ve technically died twice of kidney failure and the sense of impending doom is real but the actual arrest is made nicer for pets. It’s survivable and not generally nasty. Absolutely bless you both. Loads of velvet love (happy to pay cat tax as she is with the gruffalo and Lewis the therapy swan today).

Chocolatestain · 09/01/2024 19:20

Bit late to the party - but here are Evie and Jacob who arrived from the local RSPCA cats and dogs home just in time to look longingly at the tree and play with the wrapping paper!

Hello @Chocolatestain

What lovely cats!

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 09/01/2024 19:27

@Chocolatestain what adorable cats! I love the reticent little attitudes. They would need chaperones with Velvet (in afraid a large amount of brain power was lost but she just about survives with an Oxbridge graduate in constant attendance) but I’m sure she would love them, their attitude of gently hiding in a little Christmas tree is adorable.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 09/01/2024 19:28

Please stick around and we and our cats will love you !

You are Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I claim my $5

Re kidney failure, Midnight lived for quite a long time with kidney failure (and meds).

Allergictoironing · 09/01/2024 20:04

Today, I have attained Nirvana!

Just fed the kitties and as usual was allowed to stroke Tobias all along his back and ribs. But today I reached the blessed land of BELLY!!! Sooo soft (sigh).

RumNotRun · 09/01/2024 20:56

Congratulations @Allergictoironing 🎉

I washed Frank's coverless duvet. He has been sitting on the stairs ever since I hung it over the balustrade to dry. It's probably a coincidence but it does look like he's keeping an eye on it and waiting for it to dry so he can have his duvet back.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 09/01/2024 20:59

@Chocolatestain
Welcome - Evie and Jacob look very sweet.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 09/01/2024 21:06

And @Allergictoironing - Nirvana indeed 😁.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 09/01/2024 21:24

@Allergictoironing sllergic contrats but out little snow leopard is in bitey mood. Maybe she could swap for a day?

Catsmere · 09/01/2024 21:25

@TheShellBeach , I had Phoebe tested recently for the same reason - she gets through a lot of water these days. But the three markers for kidney trouble were all clear (plus she's on blood pressure meds, which help kidney function). Fingers crossed Linney is fine too.

@Chocolatestain what sweeties Evie and Jacob are!

JaceLancs · 09/01/2024 21:38

Finlay is very happy that I had to work from home today
Unfortunately I didn’t get as much done as I hoped - even after I grabbed some cardboard to stop him typing!

I've been out all day so got sulked at on my return. Clearly forgiven now though, and we're enjoying being each other's heat source in this chilly weather.

I hope that no-one found my joke in poor taste. I hope someone got the joke! (although I realise no-one else may know all the words to the Musical Episode of BuffyBlush)

Still in the aftermath of moving. But must do something soon about seeing if I can find a NMC. In the meantime, all the cat pics are keeping me sane...

twobluechickens · 09/01/2024 21:50

I've never seen Buffy 🙀

I'm sure we can all channel our best vibes to lure a NMC to your new abode. You can have the gobby Bengal opposite if you'd like? He's a nosy bugger very friendly.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 09/01/2024 21:59

Sorry @SequentialAnalyst I was trying to work out the reference but I'm afraid I've also missed out on Buffy.
You are welcome to have my NMC 😺

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 10/01/2024 04:23

I think I’ve related this on this thread before but the predecessor to Miss Velvet, who is a tiny (although frankly now obese and a bit flatulent, she was dragged away tonight from the kitchen she was exploring with her trademark plaintive mews and is back at my feet and I am never stopping smiling about that, I adore her for that) was an oversized MONSTER. He died at nearly 5kg which was emaciation for him. I also have no reference points with Buffy but on his first visit Mr N managed to get me on my back, on the carpet, sitting on my chest. Probably drooling on my face. Bit disappointed that V hasn’t sat in my lap yet. At least she hasn’t subdued me to lying down while sitting on me ON THE FIRST VISIT. Let’s have a little bit of political comment from her on bovine tuberculosis. They both look like it’s been a tough night out lol,

I'm tempted to ask "which one", Grumpy.

I know you meant TC but there's FWK as well.

And now you've got the additional one you reunited with its owner during the flood three days ago. 🤣🤣
