......... Silent Night.........

Well, maybe not so silent when there's a cat about who wants to be fed.

Join us in the run up to Christmas 2023!

Thanks for the mini probability lesson, I will remember that for next time someone comments on a once in x years event. My dad and I got into a discussion about probability last time I visited him, started by a post on MN about the Monty Hall problem. I still can't get my head around it. I thought I was reasonably intelligent until I started that conversation.

Frankie wanted to show off his wiggly white whiskers (try saying that several times fast when you're drunk!)

Frankie’s whiskers are very distinguished. We appreciate.

Come for the cats, stay for the stats 🤣🤣🤣

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 08/01/2024 13:29

Velvet news: her check-in this lunchtime was me feeding her a handful of biscuits - turns out she just wanted to check in and go and run around pointlessly more. Vet visit rebooked for next week and I can’t wait for them to say she has put on an astonishing amount of weight for a tiny cat. 95% sure she isn’t eating at anyone else’s house but she is turning into a sphere and as I’m in charge of feeding I’d rather my orders be “feed this cat as much as she needs” rather than “feed this cat as much as a RAVENOUS HORDE OF HYENAS”.

TheShellBeach · 08/01/2024 13:39

Linney news:

a) got us up at 07.00 because alleged no biscuits in feeding bowl - proved wrong - declined to apologise

b) sat on window ledge for an hour, hissing at Suzy - Suzy glared at him

c) installed himself comfortably under the table - enraged when Mr SB accidentally knocked into him with his foot

Ooh, can we get t-shirts with the new slogan? 😂

For a bit of idle entertainment, and to give you an idea of how far the water has come up in the garden, and obviously NOT to showcase NDN's backside, here's an action shot of us just attaching an extra rope to the boat for security.

OK I’m embarrassed for another reason: NDN: not dear nana?

RumNotRun · 08/01/2024 15:12

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats you say "us" but clearly NDN is doing the work in that photo. Are you supervising?

Interested to see a picture of NDN working while Grumpy takes a picture of him doing so.

😂😂

I have to get some revenge for him inflicting TC on us 🤣.

TC - Thug Cat. NDN's cat who spends his life trying to break into our house.

Best photo I've ever seen of a cats feet. I love humongous paws.

Flooding looks a bit ominous though Grumpy. As for the temperatures today I don't envy NDN being in water today. It was sleeting earlier and brutal cold, and all I did was run out to the rubbish bins and back.

Rex is parked on the windowsill on his self heating pad, dangling various bits over the radiator on rotation. If his feet get too hot he turns over to dangle the bum and tail. And then reverse. All afternoon. It's a hard life.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 08/01/2024 17:30

@TemporaryCatSlave
Thank you - He was sitting on our patio table a few days ago and I just thought his feet looked very photogenic 😁.
I can assure everyone that, despite suggestions to the contrary, I was in the floodwater in waders too, it's snowing - and yes it's bloody cold at the moment.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 08/01/2024 17:31

Aw, poor Rex. It’s a heart-rending story of a cat living in utter luxury 😢

Allergictoironing · 08/01/2024 17:39

Snowed off & on all day in NW Kent, settling in places. Plus there's roadworks on my main route into work. Plus the M2 was closed for 2 junctions so everyone came off before that, took my route across to the M20 and vice versa rather than using the (usually preferred) next crossing road down. Culminating in it taking me from 3:40 until 5:20 to get home - 15 miles, takers between 25 mins on a quiet day & 40 mins on a bad day.

You're by the Thames aren't you Grumpy? Reminds me, better email my cousin who lives right on the edge of the Somerset levels!

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 08/01/2024 17:52

The floods on the other hand do sound truly horrible. Really hope they abate. If they don’t, I’ll send velvet by fedex and you can ride her like a pool animal, trailing the other cats behind her, through the waters (this would work incredibly badly. She likes water but she’s a fat and spoiled little princess who weighs about 3.5kg and is stupid enough to forget what she was doing about 2m in).

JoanOgden · 08/01/2024 17:59

Gosh Grumpy, that does look very dramatic. Do you have sufficient provisions? Will you have to risk your life and limb by swimming through freezing floodwaters to procure emergency supplies of Felix?

RumNotRun · 08/01/2024 18:23

No snow here yet but it's bloody freezing. The advantage of this weather is that the tribe all curl up next to/on me. The disadvantage is that the tribe all curl up next to/on me and dig their evil spikes into me if I dare move/sneeze/cough/breath.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 08/01/2024 18:45

That’s very easy. Just be dead for a bit and revive in the morning.

More seriously, it’ll be easier to revive yourself if you aren’t 3.5 feet under filthy water. You’re probably way ahead of me on flood provision but velvet and I both say we want you and the clan snuggly and dry every morning and night.

Catsmere · 08/01/2024 20:53

@TheLongRider LOL sounds like we did! 😆

I love that pic of Mouse - always fun to see Daisy's distant siblings. ❤️

Catsmere · 08/01/2024 21:10

Yikes, just catching up with all the flood pics. That's scarier than the Queensland floods near my sister's place a year ago - her house was high enough that they were cut off, but the water didn't get near them. (Whole town was flooded though - this is what happens when some genius builds a town in a flood plain.)

LostCats · 09/01/2024 15:58

Grumpy - any news?

@TheBalletCats - haven’t heard from you in a while - is everything ok as know you aren’t well xx
