Mr N sounds like he was kindred to Magnus the Monster. When we adopted him, we didn't know he was coming down with cat flu, and that his quiet, cuddly behaviour was almost entirely due to that. Fast forward a couple of weeks when he was over it. I bent down to pat him and WHACK - he attached himself to my arm with all his front claws! Luckily he didn't start tearing, but he left the most spectacular punctures and bruises all over my inner forearm. When I went to work the next day a friend said "You look like you've been got at by a vampire with really bad aim." (She was a martial arts practitioner and Goth, and the only time I ever saw her intimidated was when she was visiting and Magnus swarmed up onto her and lay staring in her eyes, waiting for scritches. "CATSMERE GETHIMOFFME!!!")

Yep, sounds like some kindred spirits! I’ll never forget the day Mr N cornered me as I was waiting got the shower while my boyfriend was using it, he charged out unclothed and wet and Mr N just went RIGHT and attached his teeth to a wet naked calf muscle. Darling velvet is the opposite and she will probably go as far as giving a squirrel a stern little pat and come back to tell mummy she’s well protected.

Ouch!!

At least when Daisy's in the shower with me it's just to supurrvise.

I would interpret an NMC as being a cat that regularly comes to visit.
FWK has FCs (Friend's cats). Although they are in fact Not my cats they are not NMCs. (Ever seen the Vicar of Dibley I can't believe it's not butter sketch?).
DS2 obviously talks to the CC (College cat).
Any random cat I stop and talk to in the street is either a FCWIHTSFAC (Friendly cat who Is happy to stop for a chat) or a UCWIHTSFAC (Unfriendly cat who isn't happy to stop for a chat).
Obviously C for Cat can be replaced if appropriate with K for Kitten in all the above scenarios

Now worried that the double negative in the phase Not NMCs could be interpreted as meaning they ARE my cats 😮.

Just interrupting with not quite joy because it’s going to be a shite day but after a rubbish interruption from a mother, which included darling velvet being dragged out with her sad mews of please don’t pick me up, she is reinstalled on my bed which she has probably peed on and lasted three solid hours of snurring, goodwill to all xxx

What do you call the cat, I think its pronouns are he/him/you bastard, and I think he is black and white, which has been known to out-thug TC?

Pooka using his fluff to subdue the kitten. He was being very patient while she chewed his ears for 5 minutes. He eventually rolled over and sat on her. I think she wanted his basket because he hopped out and she immediately curled up and went to sleep.

I don’t think velvet is clever enough to actually reach bastard status. Her peak exploits are:
1 biting stairs
2 biting other inanimate things completely at random (most recent is a pile of dirty washing, V just went in there to do her difficult but necessary job and chewed stuff)
3 sideways rolls on any given surface
4 giving operatic performances of “oh I am so lonely and mistreated also starved” while being a sphere and having 24/7 affection
Including from people who are literally allergic to cats
5 she just goes off to bite the stairs again
6 we light the wood burner so our poor thin-furred darling can warm up and find her shivering in my freezing bedroom three hours later. Bonus points because she can’t be picked up so she’s going WHY MUST YOU BE SO CRUEL and we’re going “it’s a little warmer in there sweetie”
7 more opera but absolutely nobody knows what it’s about. I join in but it sounds I AM SUFFERING so I’m like WOULD DREAMIES MAKE IT BETTER sometimes she eats them. Sometimes we just do a duet and she subsides into maybe life is OK for us extraordinary sparkly bengals for a moment and we humans all go THANK GOD.
Also having considered circumstantial evidence I’m ninety percent sure she peed on me last night.

I'm in agreement with @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats about the nomenclature of various categories of cat.

It's no good you sending me any cats, Grumpy. I can't really have a DCat in my life with this flat, so you would have to send them to a neighbour - so they could be NMCs (as opposed to MCs). Which I can't see working somehow, especially if it's TC...

(Buffy is a brilliant programme, btw. Its internal logic is pretty consistent, it's funny, with excellent dialogue. But there are 7 seasons of it! If you wanted to, you could try starting from Season 2. Season 6 contains the Musical Episode, which is a masterpiece - but you have to know who is who, and their backstories. Season 7 is also slight below average.)

I agree with your recommendation. I love Buffy. The season with Glory was my least favourite I think. I was always a Spike fan whereas my friend preferred Angel.

Maybe you need a game of kitten poker when you are able to have a cat? The perfect way to win an MC or three.

Oh yes! It's worth watching just for Spike.

Ooh thanks @TheShellBeach you've just reminded me that I need to post a thread to garner opinions on best auto feeders. Munchkin is more into her wet food so I'm pondering those ones that come with an ice pack.

Girlcat has a new favorite toy - a bit of bubble wrap. She'll make biscuits on it for a bit then pop a couple of bubbles.

Tobias sneaked up behind her, sniffed her bum & when she turned round tried to swipe her. As she ducked it she shifted her weight causing a few bubbles to pop - Tobias went straight up in the air all 4 legs about a foot off the ground! The look on his face was so funny, I know I'm not supposed to laugh at them but....

Now to see if Girlcat figures out she has a secret anti-Tobias weapon at hand!
