......... Silent Night.........

Well, maybe not so silent when there's a cat about who wants to be fed.

Join us in the run up to Christmas 2023!

Glad you’re able to spend time with her again. See, she hadn’t forgotten her mummy 😻

That's a feather on a stick which Mr SB was waving about for Linney to hit.

Leroy also looks like he doesn’t have a single shit to put together. Sorry. Lovely cat but he’s not one for seasonal jollity is he?

He has as much love for this time of year as I do.

I fucking hate it and would ditch the lot if I was in charge

Allergictoironing · 01/01/2024 08:50

Happy new year to all from Allergic Towers.

Cats didn't give a flying one about the fireworks last night. I however was woken from a max dose Nytol induced slumber to a noise that makes Ukraine and Gaza combined sound quiet and peaceful.

The house was almost shaking, and the mortars going off were the loudest & most numerous I think I've ever heard - and they LOVE their fireworks round my way! At one stage (presumably midnight) there was a very loud mortar bang every half second or so over a 5 minute period.

COL crisis? What COL crisis, tens of thousands of pounds must have been spaffed into the sky last night!

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 01/01/2024 09:04

I don’t know how velvet is with fireworks but I sympathise with your feelings about them. They are totally unnecessary and it’s not just our furry friends, it’s those of us with PTSD suffering through them. There was a bizarre episode last night where my sister (who was supposed to leave yesterday) and my parents arrived in my room to say happy new year and ended up scolding me for lying in a wet bed (velvet knocked three glasses of water down because I’m not allowed to keep them on the radiator despite them being made of glass and velvet has to have her nose in everything). They then made up my bed again with a hospital blanket which is obscurely humiliating, not sure why, and shooed velvet out.

twobluechickens · 01/01/2024 10:03

Happy new year all. I went out with friends and was a little concerned about how Munchkin would tolerate the fireworks as she looked a bit perturbed by some early loud bangs. When I got home at around 1:30am she was snoozing on the sofa rather than wedged under it so I think all was well. I left the radio on for background noise which hopefully helped. Anyway, you wouldn’t know anything had happened this morning - currently snoring beside me on the sofa having inhaled her breakfast and had some lap time with plenty of fuss.

Impressed with the jigsaw puzzlers' abilities and with the all round abilities and glamour of the Litter Tray Cats. Happy New Year!

He is the master of the dirty look.

TC however was much friendlier this morning

So floppy and cute!

ShoutyCatSlave · 01/01/2024 13:51

Agatha was very friendly and snuggly with friends last night. Also decided to disembowel her new mouse!

Agatha looks adorable! Really good plan though is to teach them that one pat and the enemy is GONE.

SequentialAnalyst · 01/01/2024 16:05

@ShoutyCatSlave @CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau

I realise my views don't count as I have No Cat, (and I am also a slob (Oh, I'll clear that up laterBlush)) but surely disembowelling is part of the fun?

BiliousOhGod · 01/01/2024 16:42

Thankfully she loses interest in all live "toys" when they stop moving (or fight back in the case of the magpie). I release most of them alive and relatively "well" (sometimes a bit chewed / soggy in the case of pigeons).

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 01/01/2024 16:51

Could go one of two ways. Our previous half Bengal used to crunch up a rabbit a day and the odd pheasant and only ever leave the caecum. Almost no cleanup for us, sub-horror body mutilation though. I don’t think Velvet ever has or will kill anything and have in but I’d rather have to clean up after a botch job from her than have her be a methodical murderer honestly. And im afraid once a cat is living with you they are at least a bit your cat. Sorry :(

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 01/01/2024 17:10

Right, I hope we’re all ready for this.

Had a few pretty bleak days so I decided to put some pants on Velvet’s head. For some reason she loved it and started purring ecstatically. None of this is made up and there was no cruelty involved, she just apparently really likes knickers on her head. The funniest bit is that they are not my pants (4 sizes too big) and she is now currently wrapped up in pyjamas. All a bit surreal but I thought I’d share.

SequentialAnalyst · 01/01/2024 17:45

I was only referring to the disembowelling of catnip mice.

Midnight used to eat every part of rodents, leaving only the gall bladder (thankfully she ate them in the yard, if we had managed to realise she was miaowing to come in with that special miaow, and had therefore been refused entry).

With the exception of shrews, interestingly enough. Just left the dead bodies in the yard. Also left dead but uneaten: moles, bats, a robin, a goldfinch. I felt terrible, but also couldn't help feeling proudBlush

She was born on a farm, to a farm cat, and was obviously extremely well brought up by her mother. Hence being an excellent hunter in our local allotment, and very diligent in trying to pass on her skills to us, as a feline mother does for her kittens.

I am delighted that Velvet likes knickers on her headXmas Smile

It’s the way you are holding TC as if you think you might need to put him down in a hurry, Grumpy!
