Leroy's new coat is wonderful. He looks very handsome in it.

Somebody has slowly and quietly snuck up and sat on me. After this photo he actually curled up on my shoulder while I was lying on the sofa. He rarely curls up to sleep and even more rarely comes and cuddles, I always feel honoured when he deigns to sit with me

Frankie has even come back to the sofa after I moved him to put the new coverless duvet on it. He is currently hunkered down from the storm and possible threat of a sharknado.

For Christmas Mrs Grumpy bought me a jigsaw puzzle titled 299 cats and a dog. At several points this afternoon however it's been 300 cats and a dog... Thought I'd share the end result. 😁

How refined of you lot! I spent the evening mostly catching up on World's Strongest Man heats...

Another bijou breakthrough with Tobias last night. Watching TV on the sofa, and he deliberately walked past between me & the coffee table rather than the other side of the table. Plus I just automatically reached down to let my fingers brush along his back as he went past, and he didn't leap in panic, hiss or charge off at 90mph.

10/10 for Frankie’s anti sharknado face. My trust is in him if sharks randomly fly through the air (Velvet would probably say hi and attempt to play with them before being chomped). Re Tobias, it’s the littlest things isn’t it? I’ve been so touched by things like “Velvet put her legs over mine while she was sleeping” or “she curled up and rested her weight on me”, but he’s gaining trust in you and that’s so precious. Animals never fake. Love to all the excellent cats today xxxx

@CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau Frankie does a good scowl, I don't know how good he'd be at actually following it with fighting though! I know what you mean about the small things. Since I got him, Frankenstein has always been a bit standoffish so when (like now) he is lying pressed up against my leg, or near me curled in a circle instead of his normal crouching pose, it feels extra special.

linney on the other hand looks playfully prepared for anything. Re-election of Trump? Cheerfully murdering him. Climate disaster? We can cling to the tail throughout the heroic climb to higher ground. Meanwhile Catsmere’s are clearly just giving zero fucks because every day is a cat day and therefore important.

Velvet is fine. House was empty for most of the day so she was practising her upside-down doughnut pose sleeping apart from the bits where I was feeding her. She isn’t allowed to contact my blanket or my mini panda - unfortunately rolling in the litter tray results in this - but apart from that she has free rein, I’ll open my doors to her when my parents are in bed so hopefully we can welcome in the new year together.
