......... Silent Night.........

Well, maybe not so silent when there's a cat about who wants to be fed.

Join us in the run up to Christmas 2023!

I’ve never called it the cone of shame! We always just say a ruff collar
Agree it should be seen as a sign of bravery - Finlay has only glue on the outside and dissolvable stitches internally - he wants to wash as well as self soothe and thinks we are very mean to stop him

Sorry for another sad post on what is supposed to be a happy thread.

Been treated for a couple of quite nasty but luckily transient things over the past four days on a ward where only the staff addressed a single word to me, really wanting to believe everyone saying Velvet wouldn’t forget me and looking forward to fussing her when I got back. Before I went in to hospital she used to be all over me for a fuss, meowing and getting under my feet and on her hind legs and generally running around. On the way home from hospital my parents bickered over my head and my sister posted a picture of V on her bed. When I walked in through the front door my sister saw me, gave me a look of utter disgust and went upstairs. No sign of Velvet. My parents have closed my outer and inner doors off and she hasn’t even meowed for me once. Bit devastated. Need a bit of a paw hold.

pointythings · 27/12/2023 19:53

Why are your sister and your parents treating you like that? That's horrible! And Velvet is your cat, they should be facilitating getting you two together again!

TheShellBeach · 27/12/2023 19:58

Why don't you just move out Cecile?

I’m sorry to hear that Cecile x

Sleep is being a great healer still for Finlay

So lovely to hear of Tobias getting braver.
Cecile, they cannot be allowed to continue treating you in the appalling way they do. Can you get boyfriend over to find Velvet and bring her to you? And preferably move into his with Velvet.
They're a load of nasty bullies and I actually think you need a social worker. Could you speak to adult services or citizens advice tomorrow?

A lovely void!

nettie434 · 27/12/2023 22:28

I do agree with other posters that your parents and sister should not be treating you like this, Cecile. It's worth following Papergirl1968's advice on checking if adulf social care can help

Finlay is looking very handsome and Tobias is handsome and brave cat.

Hope you and other Litter Trayers are avoiding the storm, Shell.

DS2 went down* *to the chemist and ended up wading through a four inch flood.

He wasn't wearing wellingtons.

Good heavens Shell!!

nettie434 · 28/12/2023 08:41

Wading through a four inch flood not in wellies! Ugh! Hope that's as bad as it gets.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 28/12/2023 09:18

You have had a lot of weather this year Shell. Hope your house is staying dry and windproof.
@Hastheslotharrivedyet Love the void picture 🐈‍⬛.
The cats have finally discovered the tree - first bauble knocked off last night.

He was sitting in a little wicker basket far too small for him 🤣🐈‍⬛

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 28/12/2023 20:43

Thanks everyone for all your supportive messages and I am loving the Christmas cat photos! Especially those special voids introducing a mysterious element to Christmas… but they’re all beautiful. My situation is super complicated and Velvet technically doesn’t belong to me, I’m just reaponsible for her and she lives with me.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 28/12/2023 20:45

PS Velvet has a private vendetta against a felt reindeer. It has managed about five mins onthe tree and she’s keeping an sharp eye on it…

Does this post mean they've actually let her back in with you (fingers crossed)?

Well done Velvet, that reindeer is clearly up to no good!

RumNotRun · 28/12/2023 21:49

The tribe have been suspiciously well behaved today. Well, except for Toad who has shouted at me regularly as I haven't been feeding him turkey all day long. The rest have been fairly affectionate, loving, and cute. I think they're trying all methods to get turkey.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 29/12/2023 13:48

Family are now all gone, so it's just me, Mrs G, DS2 and the moggies now.
Having a lazy day today. Appropriately Sybil has decided to join me watching Tabby McTat - surely the high point of Christmas TV this year 🤣 (on BBC iPlayer if you have missed it)

LostCats · 29/12/2023 13:50

Oh my gosh I was SO excited when I saw this year it was Tabby McTat. We haven’t watched it yet as I want to really enjoy it and DC have been too tired.
However! Did anyone see the glorious Mog’s Christmas on Christmas Eve on Channel 4? If not, I highly recommend it is wonderful.

LostCats · 29/12/2023 13:50

Apologies for weird punctuation. Tired children = shattered and grumpy parents.
