....... calling all the excellent cats from the last thread.

Stop chasing shrews, mice and birds and join us here.
Less well-behaved cats especially welcome.

Maybe I've got this wrong - but I think of this problem the other way round. Winter is the time for the cats to keep us warm. Why would I provide an alternative to my lap when it's cold?😂

LostCats · 12/10/2023 16:09

Actually that’s very true Grumpy! They need to pay their way with warms.

ImNotWorthy · 12/10/2023 16:19

@nettie434 did you mean me? I described stigma as I have experienced it due to my MH. Once people know, they treat you differently, as they are judging whether your words are those of someone unbalancedAngry And they are even more likely to think that they are right, and you are the one who has got it wrongSad It's not exactly intentional, and they mean well, but it skews the communication, and is very frustrating to experience.

I imagine it's similar if you have a brain tumour.

nettie434 · 12/10/2023 18:25

@ImNotWorthy I was actually thinking of @pointythings post which used the word toxic in relation to the work environment. I was trying to avoid having to retype everything by going back to check the username and failed predictably.

I do think you are right about stigma. It always seems to be worse in workplaces which have a blame culture. I am so sorry that you and Paper have had to work in such negative environments.

2023shady · 12/10/2023 19:34

Paws visit 4. I feel really bad - I was so tired when I finished work at 5, I fell asleep. Paws must have been inside hiding somewhere as I woke up 2hrs later and he was sat in the hall like "hello? I am still inside here" Blush
He never made a peep

ImNotWorthy · 12/10/2023 19:36

But surely Paws was not complaining, was he?

2023shady · 12/10/2023 19:47

He did want to leave Blush but I didn't have a clue as he doesn't miaow

ImNotWorthy · 12/10/2023 20:48

He is obviously very polite, and, of course, being a cat, he is an expert on the value of sleep, and thought it best not to disturb you Grin

Good point, Grumpy.
I'm hoping to use the pets to keep the heating bills down this winter, especially if I don't have a job.
Matt and the dog nearly came to blows earlier about who was going to sit next to me on the sofa. Matt won, needless to say, and the dog retreated, looking mournful.

Supersimkin2 · 12/10/2023 21:28

Well done Matt.

Paws and Shady are heart-melting together.

Darling Leroy, so handsome and confident.

Prince got me back from NDN in the middle of a very good film yest night cos it had got chilly and he wanted me to warm
the bed up.

Supersimkin2 · 12/10/2023 21:31

Evening social.

DS2 told me that he woke this morning to find two cats in the bedroom - Linney and (of course) Picard.

I wonder how long he was there.

I am beginning to think that nobody in Wester Ross has a cat, as we haven't seen a single one since we left Argyll.

Papergirl1968 · 12/10/2023 22:40

It took me ages to work out what that thing was, Lana. I thought it was one of those devices they used to put on hospital beds to keep the weight of the sheets and blankets off broken legs. Then I spotted the glass and realised it was a table...doh.
What a pair of fine cats!

ImNotWorthy · 12/10/2023 23:19

There are also only a v few cats on the Dingle Peninsula, where I have holidayed several times. I think it may be too wet for them Sad Is Wester Ross very wet? I'm guessing it is, rather?

I met a little black NMC today; however, although she came towards me, she slinked/slunk? past me and disappeared off. But it's a start.

Another good thing about using cats as heat sources, is that you know you are getting extra value from that expensive cat food du jour that you are providing for them.

nettie434 · 13/10/2023 06:28

Some great photos there 2023Shady and Supersimkin2. I laughed when I read about brave Linney and Picard's night time foray into the bouncer's bedroom!

TheShellBeach · 13/10/2023 12:22

We're going to Ullapool today and I've instructed Mr SB to drive round the back streets there until we come across a cat for me to take a picture of, for this thread.

Oh and I've finished the Flake Cornettos so we'll have to go to Tesco's as well.

May I offer my latest foster kittens as a support to those going through hard times? They're two weeks old ( born around the date of my own birthday) and have to be bottle fed every four hours. We're four days in and it feels like the early days of babyhood again. At least this time I get purrs when they've finished feeding.

I'm sleeping on the sofa, much to the delight of my own mogs, I have to displace at least three of them for the 3am feed.

Realised that's a silly idea as we didn't bring the cool bag with us.

Not silly if you eat them all in one sitting... 🍦

Very much appreciated, thank you 😊

Leroy is being no help today. Apparently the weather is my fault and consequently I do not deserve a cuddle 🙄

TheShellBeach · 13/10/2023 17:30

@TheLongRider those kittens are glorious.

TheShellBeach · 13/10/2023 17:33

Well, we're driving home tomorrow and have seen precisely zero cats.

Mr SB pointed out some goats by the roadside this afternoon and offered to stop, in case I wanted to share a Not My Goat with you all, but a lorry came past the other way and we missed our chance.

Supersimkin2 · 13/10/2023 18:01

🤣 ‘Not my Goat’

Oh Long, dem kittenz is just perfect. Stripes!

Celebrating the advent of autumn here in the traditional manner - staggering round looking for the sick bucket after flu jab. Getting quite sentimental now about these little seasonal rituals.

Is everyone else going in for theirs? It’s fine honestly, I’m renowned for my weedy ways and this year’s is definitely only a one-bucket job. Best yet.
