Stop chasing shrews, mice and birds and join us here.
Less well-behaved cats especially welcome.

Gorgeous photo Shell. Great you have arrived safely and in daylight. I wonder if the resident bouncer has had to perform any evictions chez Shell yet! Yes Picard I am thinking of you.

Allergictoironing · 09/10/2023 17:07

Sadly the penalty for sport and hill walking (and repetitive physical work) is often osteo-arthritis in later life

And in my case too many falls off horses and motorbikes, plus one bike accident giving me a leg about 2/3 of an inch shorter than the other.

But as I say, I may be a physical wreck but I've had an AWFUL lot of fun on the way!

Papergirl1968 · 09/10/2023 18:08

Beautiful, Shell.
I too have conquered Snowdon several times - from where you get off the train to the summit. Grumpy, you are absolutely right!

Papergirl1968 · 09/10/2023 18:09

And pictures of Crib Goch on Snowdon fill me with terror!

Allergictoironing · 09/10/2023 21:11

Um that may have been where we were that day - it was years ago but I remember we started off on the Pyg track & branched off that somewhere, so seems like it? We'd "done" the Pyg track before so thought we would go for a more "interesting" alternative from the same start point. Always done rock scrambling in Cornwall on the coast & a bit in Scotland around the Glen Coe area, so thought why not.

Shell Beach Holiday (Day One)

Have not seen a random cat yet - disappointed

Have told Mr SB to smoke in the damned car and not at the back door as the smell of fag smoke is permeating the house - angered

Am waiting for the shopping to be delivered so that I can get going on the Cadbury Flake Cornettos so that I can make a wonderful dinner - expectant

The train up Snowden just sounds like a mobile bomb to me.

ImNotWorthy · 10/10/2023 17:26

What's the weather like?

Tell MrSB from me that as a Scottish lorry driver he is a wuss if he can't go outside somewhere to smoke, even if it is raining, hailing, or snowing. (Fellow smoker here, but only a mere Sassanach in rented ground floor flat, and not permitted to smoke in the flat. Thankfully, it has a patio at the back, and a porch outside the front door if it rains. Smoking outside is technically known as "getting a breath of fresh air."Wink)

TheShellBeach · 10/10/2023 17:51

@ImNotWorthy
He's now started to go outside to smoke because I pointed out to him that the house owner won't want us back if the house stinks of fag smoke - and he really likes this house and the location. So do I. Hopefully we'll come again, next summer.

I smoked till three years ago so I know it's a pain, but I don't want to annoy the owner.

The weather is a bit rainy but we're used to that, from Argyll.

DS2 has ejected Picard twice today.
Handcuffs not required.

I smoke roll-ups. The fags you can buy in packets leave a worse smell, and I don't like them anymore, anyway.

I reckon Picard likes a challenge...

So does DS2.

Mr SB asked where his binoculars were, but I managed to divert his attention by pretending I wanted him to lay a coal fire in the sitting room.

I am now sweltering, but needs must.

nettie434 · 10/10/2023 20:20

You could tell Mr SB that DS2 needed the binoculars to keep an eye on Linney.

I agree with ImNotWorthy that Picard may have more up his paws when it comes to unauthorised entries!

The extra heat will give you an excuse to have a Cadbury Flake Cornetto, which sounds delish!

I've had two.

I'm in Croatia. There are cats everywhere enjoying the sunny ancient ruins. The other night I went to a fish restaurant for dinner and had some left over, so I smuggled it out for the local ferals.

I've read of a three year old and an eight year old climbing Snowdon in the last few years which made me feel slightly ashamed of letting the train take the strain.
But then I remembered I climbed Ayers Rock in my younger (slimmer) days before it was known as Uluru and climbing it was banned. Got to the top of the bloody thing, knackered, in temperatures of about 40 degrees, only to find there were six or eight foot deep gullies on it that you had to scramble up and down to get to the official summit bit.

ImNotWorthy · 10/10/2023 21:50

This username was a temporaray change, hence I can't change it on the thread, once I've posted on the thread.

But it seems quite appropriate in the light of @Papergirl1968 's casual mention of rather an amazing feat Shock I am impressed. I am very impressed.

Grumpyoldpersonwithnamechangedcats · 10/10/2023 22:07

I think you can name change mid thread 🙀

ImNotWorthy · 10/10/2023 22:10

AIUI, not any more. It's to stop sock-puppeting.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 10/10/2023 22:13

I just did on my last post - or did the name change not show up?

Defiantlynot41 · 10/10/2023 22:23

@Grumpyoldpersonwithnamechangedcats @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats yep that worked!

Papergirl1968 · 10/10/2023 22:24

I'm confused. I don't have a clue who @ImNotWorthy used to be! 😂
But Allergic casually mentioned she'd shimmied over Crib Goch on her way to the summit of Snowdon, so I had to compete with my tale of conquering Ayers Rock back in the day!

ImNotWorthy · 10/10/2023 22:37

Oh, I'm sure I tried it, and I thought it had been mentioned on Site Stuff. Sorry, not name changing atm anyway.

ImNotWorthy · 10/10/2023 22:41

@Papergirl1968 In my rather eliptical and admittedly somewhat obscure way, I was saying that in the light of your amazing feat, I'm not worthy, ie I'm impressed and you are a Star
Smile

Papergirl1968 · 10/10/2023 22:49

Oh, gotcha, @ImNotWorthy
I'm slow tonight! 😂
