My cat is a MASSIVE WANKER

We have a pair of British shorthair x sisters, who are incredibly gorgeous. We adore them unreservedly. Except the Little One has really tested my patience this weekend. DH I both work from home so are around pretty much all the time. However, we made a rare trip out as a family this weekend, which meant we were out for about five hours. Little Cat took the opportunity to show her displeasure by annihilating one of my house plants. When we got home, not only had she knocked the pot off the (high) shelf, she'd bitten off all the trailing parts of my lovely Tradescantia and laid them in a trail along the hallway. This must have taken her some time, and had a massive FUCK YOU vibe about it. I got up this morning and she's done it with a second plant, which used to be full, verdant and beautiful. Now it's three sticks in a pot ☹️ Little One has suffered no obvious ill-effects from chomping my home decor. Big One couldn't be less interested - it's just her sister. Has anyone else experienced a cat that is performatively destructive? Does anyone know what drives it? Or is she just - as I suspect- a bit of a dick?

I did not know this about Calicos. Her sister is gorgeous. Slightly lacking in brains and not at all elegant (cannot jump, misses her target), but no trouble. They're like Pinky and The Brain.

My first cat as an adult was a Calico. I used to warn people to fuss her at their own risk.

Typical cat behaviour.
One of mine goes into destructive mode to get attention. She doesn't really like me talking to DH in his office and starts hanging off things and trying to climb the shelves and such like. Stops as soon as I leave (and comes with me, v pleased with herself)

I had a cat who would meow for food in the wee small hours, and if he wasn’t given it he would climb onto my book shelves and shred my book spines. The key thing was that I couldn’t just leave out a dish of dry food, that wasn’t good enough for him. I had to be awake and talk to him, or the shredding would commence.
It was gruelling. Pretty good preparation for motherhood though.

Meet Reggie. Reggie likes to wake you up by ever so delicately and carefully lifting your eyelid with a single claw. Also, turning in your sleep is not an invitation to attack your feet through the duvet.

Pets and nice things are mutually exclusive.

I bought a duresta sofa after years of dfs that the cat had never used as a scratch post. He snuck in and scratched it. Could’ve killed him.

Thanks for the links to Simons cat. My husband suffers from similar treatment from our cat and thoroughly enjoyed watching it.

Mine takes a random dislike to ornaments and will go out of her way to reach them and flick them on the floor.
No one told her she isn't supposed to like citrus, so the Christmas tree was not safe! Had to buy a skinny one that she's too chongus to climb!
The other cat broke my glass fruit bowl a couple of weeks ago - shards absolutely everywhere. Then she pissed off to another room and sat there looking at me like butter wouldn't melt!

I do love em though!

I love Reggie. What a beauty.
