New kitten covered in fleas!!!

Just a rant really. We just bought a kitten yesterday. The owner said the she hadn't given him his flea treatment when I asked as she said she was letting us decide what we wanted to treat our kitten with. She said the kitten was only 2 days late off next due dose so should be fine. I kid you not we cuddled the kitten and she did not scratch once the entire times we visited.

So now fast forward to today and kitten is non stop scratching and ca visibly see the fleas running across her head and chin. I'm so devastated and fuming. The lady seemed so sincere about her cats and their welfare of them. I've had a flea infestation before and have a baby as well. It was a nightmare and we got bitten to a pulp. I also feel so sorry for the kitten as she is tiny and must be super uncomfortable with these giant fleas on her.

Tomorrow I will be onto the vets first thing but I'm just so angry that someone would charge hundreds for a kitten that comes infested and knowingly sells them on anyways. In todays day and age can clearly expect no less but still. Feel cheated of money but glad the kitten is in now responsible hands.

@ILoveToads yes I did and I helped rehome plenty of cats and dedicated all of my time to my baby and the sanctuary so I am allowed to do this for myself thanks!

Unbelievable entitlement

Cats and children don't need to be raised together at the same time, stop talking rubbish.

You wanted a cute kitten and couldn't get a rescue, so want the 'easy but expensive' route.

You are judged for the actions you take. Kitten may be fine with you, mum perhaps not when her use is over. You cannot overlook this OP.

So you gave away cats.

You were not suitable for a kitten at the sanctuary you work at

But you wanted a kitten to grow up with your baby

So you paid a bomb to a backyard breeder and got one with fleas.

That you still haven't treated despite the shops being open all day. And there being, you know, emergency vets.

Op, as the PP had pointed out, you haven't just left this untreated today have you?

OMFG 🤬

I take back what I said about judgy people commenting!!!

You gave up your older foster cats to buy a cat when you work at a cat sanctuary and wasn't allowed to have one from there.

Take your kitten to the fucking vets and get your flea issue under control.

Like I said in my previous comment, the eggs will lay dormant for years and as you've said you had an infestation previously, I'm assuming the older cats you just gave up to buy this one, they've left a nice F- you present for you.... fleas

You really should have got flea treatment today. Kitten is 5 months old. You could have gone to the shops or a weekend vet. Poor little thing.
