How much does your cat weigh? Do you think it's too much, too little or just right? :)

Just that really.
My 2yo ginger tom weighs 6 kilos, and his sister weighs just under that. They are huge but not at all overweight. I'll be interested to see how big our 5mo kitten gets - he's small but quite chunky at the moment.

Not sure how much ours weighs but he's massive. Bigger than small dogs. The foxes don't dare take him on.

Vet says he's not overweight for his general size but advised portion controlled dry food.
He's active, goes out a lot. It's the squirrels he catches and eats - high in protein apparently.

Defiantlynot41 · 15/11/2022 09:24

Seriously impressed that yours actually catches squirrels, Dame! Our little one has had many very near misses that I've witnessed (including getting her paw onto a fluffy tail) but never to my knowledge actually caught one.

However she is very feisty and I've watched her sit in the middle of our garden when the fox entered, she sat imperiously in the centre and the fox slunk slowly and gingerly around the border to avoid irritating her!

Blondeissimo · 15/11/2022 09:34

Large Ginger boy owner here...weighing in at a tank like 8.5kg. He a massive cat and could do with losing a bit of weight but the vet says he'll never be under 8kg and to embrace his chunkiness. Am loving all of the big cat photos.

Forgot the obligatory picture!

Blimey 🤣

8 year old male was just over 5 kg at his last annual weigh-in in April. He feels heavy but has a long body and not much chunk.

refreshingseahorse · 15/11/2022 09:51

20 year old female - 1.8kg. She has always been dainty and is currently refusing to eat any food that isn't licky lix. She's currently on 4 - 5 a day.

Sagittarius25 · 15/11/2022 09:55

Two cats, both almost 4yrs.

Boy is 4.5kg and at his annual check up I was told to get him nearer 4kg which I found confusing because he is not over weight! Anyway he free feeds with his sister and neither of them clear their bowls as they are not food motivated so I don't get how the vet expects me to do that 😂

Girl is a dinky dot at 3.3kg! Sometimes she eats more than the boy but she hasn't gained or lost weight in a couple years now so she's just petite 😂

TheKitchenWitch · 15/11/2022 10:21

I am absolutely loving all the cat pics. I thought ours were large (visitors always comment that there's a lot of cat) but some of these are astonishing (in a good way!). They all look fantastic.

To the pp who asked - my two siblings are 6kg and each get a good quality meat pouch twice a day, plus a large handful of grain-free dry food. This gets topped up whenever it's empty, but that's not usually at every meal.

This is my big lad Felix, a rescued homeless street cat. He is 5.5kg, so muscly and strong it's incredible, but he is constantly missing and walks miles. He's big but not fat.
This is his favourite position, flat out on the rug hugging his chest. I think it's a comfort thing.

Did you get your rug from John Lewis! I have the small one and really wish I had bought the larger one, the colours are lovely.

Sorry, back to cats. My new boy is pretending to be asleep, but he isn’t really because if I move, even very slowly and quietly he will be wide awake and following me closely in case I abandon him or go into a room and close the door. Very needy! He is 5 kg very long legged and long bodied and can easily reach up onto a work surface to help himself to a bit of grated cheese.

Here's my fluffy 8.5kg boy - couldn't upload on my phone for some reason so hopefully this works!

What a gorgeous chunk of a cat. Look at that belly...so fluffy!

PollyCreo · 15/11/2022 18:41

Kloppy is 5.2kg 🙀 He's short in stature but has a long body, a barrel chest and huge paws and a big chunky butt He's also very muscular 💪

My other tabby boy Woody is a streak of piss, has the metabolism I can only dream of. Little Lady Rosie is a tiny scrap of a thing yet strangely becomes a dead weight after an hour on my lap 🤔

6.4kg of cat chunk. He was 6.9kg but we got a bollocking from the vet and he’s not allowed Dreamies anymore. She said he should be 5kg!

My girl is 5yrs old & a British shorthair blue & weighs 5.5kg, her brother is bigger than her. The breed is large anyway so not overweight as some mistakenly assume.

Oops wrong pic uploaded, that was Mr L her brother. Here's my girl,

Flossyhair · 16/11/2022 06:50

My boy Kevin weighs exactly 10kgs. He is naturally a large cat and we think has MC in him. But he is also on medication that ha affected his weight.

I have 2 ginger boy cats. One is 6kg and everyone says hes massive, the other is 3.5kg and looks really skinny in comparison to my big boy. They both get fed the same amount of food everyday, my bigger cat just seems to store more weight than my skinny cat

Namechanger03 · 16/11/2022 06:57

My fat cat compared to my 6 month old sheprador 😅

@Flossyhair your boy is magnificent 😍

SanFranBear · 16/11/2022 07:15

So many beautiful cats... just like us, come in so many shapes and sizes!

i have a 5.5kg boy (Ginger, funnily enough) and his 4.5kg Tortie sister but he is so much bigger than she is that they look pretty healthy. That said, he is very much more into his food than she is. They're both 18 months now so fully grown and will be interested to see what the vet says at their next check up!

Interesting 'pillow' choice from her here 😆

Flossyhair · 16/11/2022 11:07

He isnt a cuddly cat or a lap cat but we do love him.

🥰

Grey girl is 5.5kg and on the skinny side under all the floof. Cream boy is 7.5kg. He is only 1, so still has some growing to do up to the age of 4. He's really long, and tall

Both Maine Coon, so expected to be on the larger side.

Hi Viques
Sorry only just seen your question!!
Yes the rug is from John Lewis. It was £160, so probably the large size. I love it it's so bright, cleans well too.

lulalalala · 17/11/2022 16:43

My two are tiny compared to this. Both girls who are about 1.5 years old. One weighs 2.5kg and the other 2.4kg. The smaller one was the 'runt' of the little, but even their mum was very petite too when we saw her. They get 3 x dry food a day and 3 x wet food a day each so it's not because they're not fed. They do run around the house chasing each other like lunatics 😂
