How much does your cat weigh? Do you think it's too much, too little or just right? :)

Just that really.
My 2yo ginger tom weighs 6 kilos, and his sister weighs just under that. They are huge but not at all overweight. I'll be interested to see how big our 5mo kitten gets - he's small but quite chunky at the moment.

I have a very petite moggie. She's only 3kg. She is quite a small cat but also doesn't have much fat on her. SHe had a rough start in life so her growth was slow. She only eats about half what's recommended but she's just not hungry for the rest. That being said, she's happy and content and there's never been any issues with the vet.

thelobsterquadrille · 14/11/2022 13:46

6yo female - 3.2kg (she was the runt and never really grew)
2yo male - 4.5kg
7yo male - approx 8.5kg. He's a MC/BSH cross and a bit overweight 😳

WireSkills · 14/11/2022 14:34

We have two and we got them around 2 years ago as 6 month old weedy things.

They're both pretty small in stature - one more so than the other. The bigger one is around 4.2kg and has been that size since she was about 9 months old. The smaller one has finally filled out to 3.6kg. When she went for her checkup last year she was only 2.6kg - she was so tiny. She's much easier to fuss now as she doesn't fall over/slide across the floor when you you a bit too much pressure!

I know we have quite tiny cats in comparison to most though!

This is my big lad Felix, a rescued homeless street cat. He is 5.5kg, so muscly and strong it's incredible, but he is constantly missing and walks miles. He's big but not fat.
This is his favourite position, flat out on the rug hugging his chest. I think it's a comfort thing.

Don't know why there are 3 of the same photo.

ReachedTheEndofCake · 14/11/2022 15:48

Another beast, been consistently 6.4kg since he was 9 month old, now 14 and healthy. Vet confirms never fat, just large cat 😻

shoofly · 14/11/2022 16:03

Big ginger boy is 5.2kg. Vet weighed him and said she wouldn't want to see him get any heavier. She then had a proper look and said, actually he's just a big boy, he's tall and has v long legs

Wilson is 6.5kg of muscle and little fat. He's a huge boy! When he lies on my legs stretched out, he's actually longer!

I am so glad I started this thread. Firstly, interesting to see the huge range in weights. And secondly of course all the fabulous pics.

@giantkitten 7.44kg!!!! OMG! He's gorgeous though.
@PeloFondo Those eyes! What a sweetie.
@YesItsMeIDontCare That is an truly handsome boy. I agree with him, the vet knows nothing!
@thelobsterquadrille EIGHT AND A HALF KILOS??
@Clarich007 That smile too :)
@shoofly gorgeous markings!
@Mabelface so much ginger loveliness!

Sisters both 3.8kg. Just right- they have a waist if you look at them from above.

neerg · 14/11/2022 17:15

My cat it 4.5 kg.
When we saw the vet last year we were told by the vet that she was slightly overweight,. She returned to a different vet this year and,at the same weight, was told that she was fine!

I've got an 8.5 kg boy as well - huge, long chunk of a cat. I love every inch of him.

Autumn101 · 14/11/2022 17:18

Mine is about 3.5kg - she’s all legs! Looks quite small when curled up then stretches right out, she’s a Middle Eastern cat so they are often on the slim side

ggglimpopo · 14/11/2022 17:20

PeloFondo · 14/11/2022 12:23

3.2kg. He should weigh more but he's always been light

Mine's like this - but really scrawny, no matter how much he eats. Have wormed him and he's happy and healthy, just really skinny.

Those of you with chunky cats, what are you feeding them ?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 14/11/2022 17:25

A picture of our small (4kg) and large (nearer 6kg) siblings. Basil is just bigger than Sybil in all dimensions. 😹

Doublevision5 · 14/11/2022 17:29

We have one who's 8.5kg. Absolute monster. The vet said he's not particularly overweight though, just "very large framed". We also have a smaller girl who's about 4kg.

Ludo19 · 14/11/2022 17:50

@YesItsMeIDontCare my god Leroy is a stunner. He looks like he's plotting world domination!😍
@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats Basil and Sybil are beautiful all that fur 😍 love the names btw!

My boys are only 15 months old, Aro comes in at 5.6kg and Paco 5.2kg so a bit chonky but both ragdolls with maine coon and Norwegian forest fenes from their mum so I'm expecting mini lions.

Loving all the photos of the cats, all gorgeous 😍

thelobsterquadrille · 15/11/2022 08:29

@TheKitchenWitch yep - 8.5 kilos Grin

When we last took him to the vet, they told me he was "a lot of cat" 🤣

lljkk · 15/11/2022 08:37

3 cats, they weigh 3.5-4.1 kg. All of them are heavy & I would prefer them lighter. The heaviest one is obsessed with food, she will even eat up the fresh sick produced by the old cat <boak>

I have just found all these links for DIY home-made cat puzzle feeders. OMG, this will be fun. My fattest cat would work hard for plain kibble.

lljkk · 15/11/2022 08:41

Ginger girl cat, just for balance.

KnickerlessParsons · 15/11/2022 08:45

3kg. But she's quite a small cat, even at 8 years old.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 15/11/2022 08:47

3kg,we always get congratulated on his weight at the vet's,nothing to do with us,be eats up to 6 pouches a day plus a lick e lix!!

Defiantlynot41 · 15/11/2022 08:49

Aww @lljkk , she looks just like my childhood cat, also ginger female.

My two (litter mates) are 2.8kg and 4kg at the last vet check. 4kg girl is on steroids for pancreatitis and 2.8 kg is good for the other one, I was panicking when she went down to 2.4kg after being bitten and very poorly.

Here they are in a rare photo together so you can see the size difference and a photo of the bigger one just because it's my favourite photo of her!
