Does your cat sleep on your bed at night?

Cat One sleeps on my side of the bed until from 11.00pm til 5.30, then gets up and does cat things. He returns at about 9 to sleep on DH’s side of the bed. The person on the side of the bed he wants ends up sleeping diagonally.

Cat Two seems to have a rule that there can only be a maximum of two cats and one person on the bed. She will only sleep on the bed when DH has gotten up. She then sleeps on top of me in winter, or on the cat blanket at the foot of the bed in summer. She has been refusing to get on the bed if Cat Three is there.
Cat Three sleeps on the cat blanket or with his head on DH’s leg.

I get annoyed with cats making me hot, but if I wake up and there is no cat on the bed, I feel abandoned 😁

Yep, my favourite cat sleeps on my pillow! The other one is all over then place but always on the bed

JorisBonson · 05/08/2022 13:12

Girl cat sleeps glued to DH. Occasionally tries to put her head in his mouth.

Boy cat sleeps in the spare room until about 4am when he decides he needs to come under the covers with me, then walk on me, and occasionally bite me. This morning he also tried to climb out of the bedroom window.

DelurkingAJ · 05/08/2022 13:13

No, because DCat1 believes that grooming people’s eyebrows at 5am is the best way to wake them up and DCat2 that bopping everyone in turn (including the then toddler DS2) is an appropriate way to get them up at 6am to feed her.

Branleuse · 05/08/2022 13:20

sometimes a cat or a dog will sleep on the bed. Not always, but the animals generally sleep where they want. Sometimes i kick them out of bed though

jewishmum · 05/08/2022 13:46

After spending 20 mins or so playing 'scratch the human's toes' she gets on top of the bed in between me and husband. She sometimes goes under the covers.

Pyjamagame · 05/08/2022 13:52

Yes, at my feet. Usually appears in the evening at the back door and will jump on the bed when told 'bedtime'. Goes outside from midnightish until 5-6am. Occasionally appears in the dark hours with that special meow indicating a present for the hoomans...

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 05/08/2022 13:57

Yes. All five in some sort of unspoken rotation. Bought a king size bed to accommodate their needs. Occasionally one might decamp to any of the three cat beds in the room or up a cat tree.

SirenSays · 05/08/2022 14:10

Nope. We tried it once and woke up to her flinging herself around our four poster bed poles like a crazed stripper. Never again

Caterina99 · 05/08/2022 14:17

No she sleeps in the kitchen. Too many nights batted awake at 4am by her wanting to play/eat, added to small children sleep deprivation, and I couldn’t take it. Kids now sleep fine, but cat gets to sit with us on sofa until we go to bed and then a child will usually let her out on a morning and she gets some morning bed snuggles, mostly on top of DH!

ememem84 · 05/08/2022 14:18

My semi feral rescue turned spoiled lap cat sleeps on the bed. She usually curls up with as close to me as she can. My left upper arm currently looks bloody awful as she’s been kneading it. She does it with love. But still.

last night DH was away so she slept on the pillow next to me.

takeitandleaveit · 05/08/2022 14:19

Not if I can help it, they don't. We have 4 of the blighters darlings.

Marblessolveeverything · 05/08/2022 14:30

She has a schedule. Younger son bed until midnight, quick swing by elder human and then into my bed until three ish then into her own bed.

Please note her bed is a bunk bed that had been decommissioned with two mattresses so she ain't slumming it. She is like the princess and the pea 😹

She does her rounds at seven, head bops and pets us with her paws to see who will feed her first. Then we get the extended news report from her.

MayISuggestSomeThickCutSteakChipsToGoWithThat · 05/08/2022 15:22

Yep mine either sleeps on the pilllow next to me or just below the pillow next to me snuggled up into my arm. I do more often than not end up with a furry bum in my face most nights though

Felixsmama · 05/08/2022 15:25

No mines sleeps downstairs as he will sleep on top of me crushing my chest , kneading my tits and purring like a train. He's so LOUD then he will get up always like 4am and scratch the door.

DreamingofItaly2023 · 05/08/2022 15:28

Mine like to curl up inside my arms which is fine. However when they decide it is morning (which is not usually a time I consider morning) they like to scratch my face and head butt me. I do get upset if they don’t sleep next to me though Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 06/08/2022 11:41

Cheddar was objecting strongly to having her claws clipped at 3am the other night. I told her if she was going to poke me in the face it was non negotiable. (I have a pair of clippers in the bedroom, so I don't have to trek downstairs in the middle of the night. When I'm woken up by a shake claw in the face)

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 11/08/2022 12:27

I'd be fine with Cat 2 sleeping in our room all night. He's no bother at all. Cat 1, though, is an utter dick and likes to pounce your feet at 2am, sometimes drawing blood. He cannot be trusted, therefore ruins it for both of them. Bedroom doors are firmly closed!

Leafy3 · 11/08/2022 12:32

😍

loopylindi · 11/08/2022 12:37

What I love about all these posts is how we hoomans have allowed cat royalty to 'rule the roost' as it were. Every psot we can all identify with. Bloody brilliant

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/08/2022 13:25

Well you don’t really have a choice do you? If they aren’t happy they’ll move in with the neighbours. They don’t have to pay an adoption fee like we do.

Babdoc · 11/08/2022 13:33

My madam likes to sleep by my feet, in between trips outside to murder the local vermin. She is very quiet, and never tries to wake me before 8am. If I have slept in a bit and she’s hungry, she will walk up to the head end of the bed and look enquiringly at me, but she never shouts.

Minecraftatemychild · 11/08/2022 13:53

Nope. Not since the whole fleas thing 😬

Daisycatliveshere · 11/08/2022 13:56

All beds in my house belong to the cat. She is willing to share as long as she isn’t disturbed from whichever part of the duvet she chooses to curl up on/under.

DomesticShortHair · 11/08/2022 14:03

When I tried to go to bed the other evening, I found my two cats stretched out even more so than normal (I think because of the heat), and strategically placed so that there was no room for me.

I slept on the sofa.

minipie · 11/08/2022 14:05

Nope. She’s shut downstairs overnight. Strongly suspect she spends her nights with a neighbour though (we leave catflap open), which I’m fine with.
