I think I have become my cat's fluffer!

We adopted a male cat about 5 months ago. Lovely old boy (14 to 16) we were told but still very much full of beans. He's fitted in to the family well and is very tolerant. So far, so good.

However, when he kneads he does it with all four legs and, after a while, he'll be erect, jump down and lick himself. Now, I was aware of kneading but my husband's old cats had done it without the weird little codicil.

Do other cats do this? How should I respond? I've realised that I've let this happen often enough (it took me a while to clock what he was up to) now that he does it almost every day if he gets a chance. He occasionally does it to my husband if I am not available but I am, apparently, his favourite fluffer.

He's a cat that shows love through proximity rather than obvious affection so I don't want to shove him away pre-emptively.

He has been neutered but at what point in his life I can't say, unfortunately. I don't know much either about how much love and affection he has before he came into CPL's care.

Anyone have any wisdom please??

Fleece blankets are usually the preferred choice for wank-kneading. It’s not ideal, but better than him doing it on you.

@MyAnacondaMight That's the thing about cat ownership: earlier on I would have moaned about how I spent a fortune on defunct cat beds. Now I'm toying with buying him a selection of what can only be described as wanking aids to try to get him to find his pleasures elsewhere!

Oh my god I’ve never been so glad that fate gave us a girl cat😻 Love this thread so much, it’s really made me chuckle.

I knew nothing of any of these things when I registered with rescues and would have taken any cat they felt appropriate. Not sure I am ready for cats pleasuring themselves on my soft furnishings or worse, me…..

My lovely ragdoll girl does no such things, she’s a proper lady….except when she needs to groom her nether regions and that’s a spectator sport apparently🥰😵‍💫

I had one of those. He'd frequently get fruity on anyone who'd tolerate it I asked the vet about it and he said it's a common thing with males, and down to them being neutered later in life. It's learned behaviour and won't change

I've just come to find this thread after being forced to maintain eye contact with our old rescue girl cat as she 'made friends' with her blanket. First cat I've had that kneads with all 4 paws, but today I looked more closely and she was hip thrusting at the same time. She was on a fleece blanket but no material was touching her nether regions and she was done at 4 months and either way female cats don't orgasm - do they??? It's very uncomfortable to watch anyway.

My boy kneads a sheepskin rug which I thought was cute and kittenish (he's 8) till I noticed the hip thrusts and shivering....dirty little sod! Don't think he's jizzed on the rug though as it's not crispy...
Love this thread as I thought I was the only one with a pervy cat!

So glad others have mentioned it needs to be in private. My cat will stop if my DP walks into the room. DP has taken to asking if he has finished before coming in now, which just adds to the whole seedy feeling.

My darling old boy was a demon for this - thankfully (?) only on me, not DC but he'd finish himself off with with hefty, slurpy licks after going at it an obscene amount of time (I'd normally interrupt his flow which would result in the afore mentioned slurps!) He was neutered late - 4yr old stray - which is what I always put it down to. Uncomfortable amount of eye contact too.

If you can believe it, he went missing over a year ago and never came home and I'd give almost anything for a quick little hump from my darling boy! Miss him every day.

I feel as if I should have reported this to the cat equivalent of social services, it happened many years ago and all the participants are now deceased.

We had a group of semi-ferals living in the gardens of our cluster of houses. One of the females gave birth to a litter of kittens and we managed to capture and neuter her and the kittens. We kept one of her sons.

Her sister also had kittens about a year later. Again we managed to capture three of them but this time the mother escaped after she weaned the kittens. Her nephew from the previous litter took over the rearing of the kittens. He would wash them and they would snuggle up in a heap together. We decided to keep two of the boy kittens with their uncle.

This is the tricky part, all three of them were neutered but occasionally uncle cat would get a bit horny and attempt to mount one of his nephews when they were older. There was no actual assault just inappropriate peddling and purring. The young cats would just put up with it but it was incredibly discomforting.

Our cat when I was a teenager used to get shaggy, but it was specially blue soft furnishings that would get him going.

We had a blue fluffy blanket on the sofa, and he'd start by kneading it with his paws and then is back end would kind of.... Judder

We had to get rid of the blanket, it was too distracting trying to watch TV whilst seeing dcat in your profiferal vision having his moment of joy

I suspect having a male animal of any species means their will be emissions

When we met our new ndn the dog got very excited about a female dog and their was “fluids” & the owner said “oh dear, Schnauzer jizz everywhere” .

I decided then and there I was far to prudish to ever own a male dog without neutering it.
