Chicken doughnuts? Please enlighten me.

Anyone else think pawpaw's take away looks like a cat lying on the table?

PollyCreo · 19/02/2022 14:22

Kloppy is on the naughty step. Caught sinking his teeth into a chicken fillet I'd left defrosting on the worktop - why do I never learn?! 🙄😅

Kloppy super bright!

All property is theft, he’s a good socialist.

Supersimkin2 · 20/02/2022 08:06

Four words: Chicken.In.The.Cat.

Anyone else classy enough to get the KFC ad under the lovely pic of Kloppy?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/02/2022 08:51

Woke up this morning to the merry sound of the chainsaw.
There's a man on a cherry picker starting to take the tree of doom down fron the top.
Looks like I'll live to post another day Grin
A 'before' image of the tree included

And if you look very carefully - you can play spot the tree surgeon in the top of the tree Smile

I have seriously got to stop this work lark, I miss too much on here!

Unfortunately rising energy prices means that this wouldn't be the wisest choice... I doubt Leroy would be impressed with me turning the heating off 🤷🏼‍♀️

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/02/2022 09:32

I could watch this all day (love seeing experts in action!) - unfortunately I need to go off and sing in the merry village choir. I suspect it will be down by the time I'm back.

What a beautiful view @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats I'm rather jealous!

Papergirl1968 · 20/02/2022 11:33

Apparently it's national Love Your Pet day. According to Matt this means extra rations of Dreamies. Hmm

YesItsMeIDontCare · 20/02/2022 11:52

That's in the USA @Papergirl1968. Tell Matt he's got to wait until 11th April in the UK.

And then laugh hysterically at the thought of him giving a shit 😂

Get the Dreamies out...

Papergirl1968 · 20/02/2022 12:19

Ha ha, I wouldn't dare withhold the Dreamies!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/02/2022 12:48

Thanks - it's lovely living here, except when the river decides not to stay enclosed in its watercourse. Fortunately it behaves most of the time. Picture of our road in 2014 enclosed. Shock

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 20/02/2022 12:59

Oh dear @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats I hope it stays enclosed for you over the next couple of days! We are in Yorkshire and have torrential rain for the next 24 hours and loads of flood warnings.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 20/02/2022 13:03

What's your view like without the tree, Grumpy?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 20/02/2022 13:04

Also, has TC been sighted since the tempest?

YesItsMeIDontCare · 20/02/2022 14:18

Your road looks like my parents' garden Grumpy!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/02/2022 14:54

Latest view. House is now safe from tree falls. The rest of the tree will be removed later in the week.
In terms of flooding we had a "once in a hundred years event" in 2003. It was worse in 2014.
Apart from a bit of water at the bottom of the garden every now and then, we've not had any flooding since, so we're probably due again in the next few years..

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/02/2022 14:55

I believe TC is currently wrapped up safely in his house. but he did have a very loud argument with Lenny this morning, right outside our front door.

Defiantly41 · 20/02/2022 15:03

One in a hundred years chance of flooding actually means a 1% chance of it happening in any given year, or given totally average weather each year for 100 years you would see one such event. Sadly means you absolutely could see another flooding event. Also the 1 in 100 is worked out on super long term weather patterns, so recent changes in weather patterns take a long time to become statistically significant. Keep warm and dry everyone, the cats in this house are cuddle up with their noses tucked into their tails.

Papergirl1968 · 20/02/2022 15:11

In theory I'd love a river at the bottom of the garden. Not sure about in reality though.
Just got back from walking the dog in the wind and rain, while the cats looked on smugly, no doubt thinking how stupid dogs are not to be able to use litter trays.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/02/2022 15:26

In theory I'd love a river at the bottom of the garden. Not sure about in reality though.

The advantages for us massively outweigh the downsides. Having access to a dayboat at the bottom of the garden whenever the weather is nice is an absolute privilege. The Thames doesn't flash flood, so we get plenty of warning when there will be problems, and our house is effectively on stilts so even when we've become our own little island we've never had water in the house (just in the garage).

Because of the fear of flooding, we also live in one of the cheapest houseprice areas around us.
And the cats LOVE the choice of wildlife Grin.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 20/02/2022 16:00

My parents' river floods every year... at least 😱

Supersimkin2 · 20/02/2022 17:10

Can TC swim?

Papergirl1968 · 20/02/2022 17:37

I was just thinking I'd be worried about the cats falling in.
I've just earned myself a death state for dropping a frozen roast potato on Matt's head - it bounced out of the roasting dish!
