This cat is a boy isn't it.... (warning, cat butt photo)

We were explicitly told our cat was female when we bought her (amongst a multitude of other lies - the place was a disaster and those people had no business owning even one cat, never-mind breeding them).

Those look like testicles.

dementedpixie · 18/11/2021 12:16

Is there another opening there somewhere?

BarbaraWoodlouse · 18/11/2021 12:19

Yes I think so. Our girl cat was also a boy.

SpringIsSprung1 · 18/11/2021 12:20

It's a boy. Please report the people you got him from to RSPCA if conditions were terrible .

Mjjbgfessrgb · 18/11/2021 12:27

When mine was a kitten he could be cradled and you could see his button in a fur coat Grin
Have you checked for a willy?

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 18/11/2021 12:28

That's definitely not what a girl cat looks like.

floppybit · 18/11/2021 12:39

Yep, that's a boy

WinterFirTree · 18/11/2021 12:49

Boy I feel sure.

However- we took on an adult cat when our neighbours did a midnight flit. Took her to the vet and the vet confirmed she was a girl.

About 2 years later DH commented; 'I think Pippa has a penis'.

Pippa did have a penis. Pippa is still called Pippa. In our defence Pippa's arse is supremely fluffy, but I would have thought the actual vet would have worked it out. (And us too to be fair).

This is what prompted me to have a look! I saw "her" licking herself and thought her urethra looked rather.... sticky outy!!! Then I checked and found this massive pair of what you have all confirmed are balls Grin

Thank you for your help everyone! I have made a report to the RSPCA as it was pretty horrendous when I went to collect her. I am hoping others who got kittens from them did too - we were told they were vaccinated, chipped, we're older than they were etc. Not bloody on at all!!

This made me laugh, sorry Grin it's a shock when you realise isn't it!!!

I did wonder if we should change his name now as he is currently Sylvie! I've been jokingly calling him Sylvester for a few weeks (and Sylvia and other names) so will probably just stick with sylvester or sylv for short!

OP posts:
Pennguin · 18/11/2021 13:38

Slyvester is a good name for a cat!

shreddednips · 18/11/2021 13:38

Yes, those are balls. Something similar happened to us- told kitten was a girl, couldn't really see much, then all of a sudden noticed balls. Kitten had grey stripes so had one grey and one black ball, which amused us. Violet the kitten became Alan.

Longdistance · 18/11/2021 13:39

Did you post this the other day? I’m sure I’ve seen those plums before?

Frazzledbutcalm · 18/11/2021 13:40

We had a ginger girl. Took her to the vets for her 1st injection and check up. Vets first words were “a ginger female? It’s very rare to have a ginger female” … next words “you have a ginger boy…. Do you still want to keep him?” Hmm Confused

Fuckingfuckssake · 18/11/2021 13:43

We had a puppy from a close family friend, a midwife no less, a boy, called Oliver. She remained Oliver her whole life.

AlfonsoTheUnrepentant · 18/11/2021 14:02

I had a cat I thought was a boy (though everyone else told me it was a girl). Named him John. Turned out he was a girl. I still called him John.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 18/11/2021 14:06

Dh had a ginger boy called Tom when i met him

He was still called Tom after he had a litter of kittens.

SedentaryCat · 18/11/2021 14:47

We collected two boy cats. Or so we thought. One turned out to be a girl. We got them from Cats Protection so you'd think they'd know Smile. They were from a feral colony so part of a huge intake of cats...things obviously got a bit muddled.

We did change her name - she'd been called King, DS renamed her Tilt.

Mynameisthecatwhogotthecream · 18/11/2021 14:52

We found a kitten in a ditch, the vet told it was a girl, he's still called Ivy

YodaiamsaidI · 18/11/2021 14:59

Definitely get him neutered, you don't want him spraying round the house or wandering,I would say stop him fighting too but hasn't stopped mine.

YodaiamsaidI · 18/11/2021 15:00

Our boy is called star as we were told he was a she Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/11/2021 15:29

Yep, that’s a boy and a half that is. You’ll have to castrate him before he gives the men in the family an inferiority complex.

jaundicedoutlook · 19/11/2021 23:18

The big dangling ballsack is the clincher for me.

weegiemum · 19/11/2021 23:37

We have a Bella. Still referred to as she. But a boy cat before the operation. Only found out when the vet phoned before she was "spayed".
