We were explicitly told our cat was female when we bought her (amongst a multitude of other lies - the place was a disaster and those people had no business owning even one cat, never-mind breeding them).

We had a ginger girl. Took her to the vets for her 1st injection and check up. Vets first words were “a ginger female? It’s very rare to have a ginger female” … next words “you have a ginger boy…. Do you still want to keep him?”

I had a ginger female from the CPL. She started out as a girl, then they decided she was a boy and she came to me as a girl... which she was!

About 25% of ginger cats are female (I googled it at the time).

soup … I’ve heard of lots of ginger females since mine turned out to be a boy - NO IDEA how the vet was so misinformed - after telling me he was in fact a boy, he said he knew this was the case beforehand as you just don’t get ginger females as it’s so extremely rare - what the heck does he know? He’s just a vet 🤣

To be fair though, statistics say 80% of ginger cats are male, as to be female they need two of the ginger X chromosomes genes. Mind, 20% odds are not rare imo 😂

Cheddar is a ginger female. Though she insists she's red. She is definitely a girl! Not sure if she's really a cat though!
