Oh I can imagine the pained looks. This is why I don’t think we need to teach animals to communicate with those buttons like they do on Instagram, they communicate just fine without them.

Toddlerteaplease · 26/12/2020 12:13

Love the picture of Jasmine on the bean bag.
I was working yesterday and my mum and dad came round while I was at work. When I got home my mum told me that Snorg likes ham. I was absolutely delighted that she had the confidence to approach her, and demand a titbit. (And belly rubs) with someone she's not seen in almost a year. Until I asked how much ham she'd had. "Oh I didn't give her any, you have to be careful with other peoples pets."
Poor Snorg!

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/12/2020 12:18

Oh Poor Snorgmaiden. Well she won’t bother next time will she?.

When mil lost Asbo I told her to get some hand carved ham as a lure & she bought packet ham. Not even taste the difference just preformed ham. We had to drive home in the end to get him in.

Gosh, another sadly departed Bertie on our thread. That's three now. My beautiful boy died just a few weeks ago. Welcome @little0miss0mac

Papergirl1968 · 26/12/2020 13:46

I love that pic of Jasmine. It just reinforces my determination to come back as a cat!

Justonedayatatime11 · 26/12/2020 18:42

Best Christmas present I could ask for, she's starting to eat again Smile

That’s wonderful! Good girl!

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/12/2020 18:54

Oh good. I just thought of something else that makes cats eat but it’s px only, Mirtazapine. It’s an antidepressant but I think animals can take it too. They use it to treat anorexia.

Justonedayatatime11 · 26/12/2020 18:59

Thanks @Fluffycloudland77, we're back at the vets on Weds so I'll mention it then. I'm fully expecting her to end up with a feeding tube short term, she's an absolute bag of bones bless her

TheLongRider · 26/12/2020 20:28

Best of luck Just and Darcy. They are such small animals and it can be stressful looking after them. You're both doing your best.

SunFlowerRose · 26/12/2020 20:55

Has anyone successfully changed their cats food from wet pouches with dry food always out to complete dry food only?
I'm getting fed up of wasting so much wet food and the smell when its left whilst I'm at work all day. I've even tried only giving a bit at a time and storing the rest in the fridge.

She meows for it at set times as it had become routine, but then will leave a lot of it.

Today I've tried her on dry food only but she keeps meowing at me and pulling on my heart strings.

Please tell me I'm not being a meanie?

Obligatory picture added of course.

Perhaps she doesn’t like that particular brand?. If they leave it they don’t think much of it.

I’m not mad keen on dry, it’s often high in cereals & they take at least 4 chomps per biscuit. Crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch. It’s an assault on the ears.

Toddlerteaplease · 26/12/2020 22:59

@Justonedayatatime11 Snorg had a feeding tube when she had pancreatitis. It was pretty easy to use. But I forgot to ask how much to give her. I don't know the feed requirements for cats! I stopped using it after a day or so when I realised I was filling her up and she wasn't hungry. Then just gave her water for another couple of days.

Allergictoironing · 26/12/2020 23:06

That's a lovely sight Just Smile

Justonedayatatime11 · 26/12/2020 23:22

@Toddlerteaplease that's good to know. Whereabouts does the tube go?

YesItsMeIDontCare · 26/12/2020 23:46

Oh blimey! That reminds me - the family cat from when I were a lass (OK - Mum's cat) had to have a feeding tube.

She had to have her jaw wired together for a while after being attacked by some bastard dogs.

It went in through her neck and was well packaged up. I was 16 so I can't remember if it had to be changed or cleaned - that would have been Mum's job (sorry Mum). I do remember that the food didn't smell particularly appetising though!

Toddlerteaplease · 27/12/2020 09:18

@Justonedayatatime11 hers was in her neck. She had a biopsy at the same time so it was done under GA. I couldn't believe how thick it was when It was removed.

Toddlerteaplease · 27/12/2020 09:20

She had a bandage around it. I just cleaned around the site with some saline. It was a little easier than using an NG tube on a baby.

coastergirl · 27/12/2020 10:19

So pleased to hear that Darcy is eating!

Justonedayatatime11 · 27/12/2020 10:57

Well she was Sad. Now she's just doing this. I have never seen a more depressed cat. Feels like every day is a battle of forcing medication into her, begging her to eat and worrying she's dying. I hate this. She's only a baby, it's not bloody fair

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/12/2020 12:47

Would it help if they admitted her?.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/12/2020 19:04

How is she now?.

Justonedayatatime11 · 27/12/2020 19:16

Trying, and failing, to eat my venison Hmm

coastergirl · 27/12/2020 19:53

Love to you and Darcy just. How are the rest of the tribe?

Supersimkin2 · 27/12/2020 21:16

Keep the faith @Justonedayatatime11. Vet in 48.

@SunFlowerRose they're fussy buggers :) and that is a lovely lovely pic. Have you tried one of those time-release feeding trays?
