(Precious first cats)
When Fatty and Snorg went to the cattery for the first time. I wrote two pages of instructions on how to tell them apart and their likes and dislikes. BlushBlushBlush

I take too many photos of Leo because I love his little kitten face, paws, beans and everything else about him and I don't want to feel like we missed him growing.

I also expect my husband to text me every morning when he gets up to tell me what Leo is doing (he's asleep 99.9% of the time, but that's not the point).

I FaceTime my husband every night on his last break before I go to bed so he can see Leo. I pick the best bits of cheese out of the tub for him (in moderation!).

I was never like this with the dogs when I lived at home.

Please don't judge me! :)

Toddlerteaplease · 24/09/2020 13:38

Leo is so adorable, I definitely won't judge you!

Dh used to make me ring the chattery every day in case pfbengal needed us & yes he would have cut the holiday short if needed.

We lived in a house with only 3 working storage rads & thin loft lagging but left an oil filled rad on all night for the cat while we literally froze upstairs.

QueenOllie · 24/09/2020 16:46

Where do I start? Grin
He gets salmon oil on his food as he won't eat it without
A hot (warm) water bottle in case he's cold

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/09/2020 17:13

My mother would open up a different flavour if the cats didn’t like her first offering. I never got a choice even if it was cod roe night. I didn’t even know choice existed.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/09/2020 17:24

@QueenOllie my two get it occasionally as well. Snorgs hair cuts cost more than mine do!

@Toddlerteaplease if I don't put it on his food he just looks mournfully at me

Oh and not my cat is eating grain free food HmmBlush

Toddlerteaplease · 24/09/2020 17:41

It's adorable that you feed paws the push stuff!

I refused to go on holiday for 10 months and when we did eventually go away we got a cat sitter who worked from home so she was hardly ever alone.

When she first started jumping on counters I placed chairs or step ladders so the jump down wasn’t too far.

I have a high cabinet in the kitchen that she can easily hop into but getting out was a bit awkward so when I thought she was ready to get out I stood there holding a bean bag/pouffe thing which she jumped on then I placed the queen safely on the floor.

No I am not at all embarrassed by my behaviour Grin

PFC moments ? Never

newnamenewposts · 25/09/2020 00:39

Yesterday I texted DC from the living room to his bedroom to please turn go and off the oven as kitty was on my lap sleeping and I didn't want to disturb him by getting up Blush
DC has also complained that there are more treats and food variety in the house for kitty than for him 🤷‍♀️

CoolYourBeansMySon · 25/09/2020 00:48

PFD rather than PFC - after lockdown he got his hair cut before I did.

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 25/09/2020 00:51

I read this thread earlier and scoffed to myself at the thought but when I was heating up some pureed baby food (home made) for the kittens (mostly chicken and potatoes) so it wouldn't be cold after defrosting in the fridge, and was then heating up both snugglesafes to tuck into their beds and giving the blankets a 5 minute run in the tumble dryer to make them snuggly before I tucked them in. I thought to myself what am I doing? Here is a picture of one of them tucked in.

Also a previous cat went to the vets with a bag, she was only going for neutering and instructions for what to sing to comfort her.

Toddlerteaplease · 25/09/2020 04:32

@CoolYourBeansMySon, Magic got her hair done before mine. Had to have a different groomer as mine was still closed. It was double the usual price!

@NotanotherboxofFrogs my pair have a cattery bag. Cup, brushes, blanket, toys etc.

Ah, so much...!

  • Walk them to their food bowl every time they come inside (they meow until I do it Blush)
  • Cried the first time they went to the cattery
  • Bought them a £400 custom cat tower (although it is magnificent...)
  • DP and I always say things like, "He gets that from you," as if they were our real babies
  • Let them sleep anywhere they want in the bed, so most mornings when I wake up I am sandwiched between two cats Grin
NC4Now · 25/09/2020 10:09

I warm Ozzy’s milk up in the microwave. He’s three 🤣

Oldraver · 25/09/2020 16:37

Oh yea I've been doing the texting DS a lot as Colin is usually snuggled up on my knee

He comes running as well

Pelleas · 25/09/2020 16:41

Cooked them scrambled eggs after spaying/castration as I'd read it was easier for them to digest.

LockdownMayhem · 25/09/2020 17:15

We used to put baby suncream on the white tip of his ear to stop him getting sunburnt (I still maintain this was common sense, despite much ridicule from others...) and we used to take him with us if we went away for the weekend to stay with the (very long-suffering in-laws) rather than leaving an overnight feeder like all the subsequent ones got.

Toddlerteaplease · 25/09/2020 17:51

We used to put sun cream on our white cats ears.

OP posts:
NotanotherboxofFrogs · 25/09/2020 18:04

Oh yes to the sunscreen on the ears, previous cat 🐱 used to stay out at night (his choice) and had a outside den he could pull the door on, it was an old tumble dryer with a string to close the door and faced towards the wall in between 2 sheds for shelter. He would come in the house in the morning and have his breakfast (pouches) then lie across my shoulder to be burped. About 11am each day, he had a second breakfast which was a hard boiled egg mashed with some butter. Then he would go off and hang out with his cat friends on a neighbours trampoline to catch some rays. Back for another pouch around 2pm and spend the afternoon snuggling but once it came to 8pm at night, he demanded out and if I tried to keep him in, he howled like a demented cat.

@Toddlerteaplease this was spare puppy pads, heat pad, toys, apart from the instructions for what to sing in case that didn't provide enough comfort, I put in an old phone with recording of me signing the song myself, a towel that I rubbed over myself before my shower that morning so she would have my scent in a sealed bag so the scent would hold better until it might be needed. She was in the vets for about 3 hours after her op before I took a groggy kitten home, I'm sure the vets had a real laugh.

My current kittens went last Tuesday week for neutering (not and girl), I just handed over the carriers with a couple of words attached to each - escape artist / very scared of strangers

I refer to myself as Cat mummy much to the amusement of my friends.

Toddlerteaplease · 25/09/2020 18:09

OMG you didn't?!! That's absolutely hilarious
