Yessssss...@ClientQ., you will feel a million times better in 6 weeks when those pills kick in. A permanent improvement. You can eat more without putting on weight, and your spirits lift no end.

It really is not a difficult disease to manage. Blood tests every 3 months and a pill when serving Da Breakfast Numba 1.

TheLongRider · 04/06/2020 20:24

It's not a magic pill and it takes a few weeks/months to feel normal. If you haven't felt normal in ages, it's very odd!

Mine is pretty well controlled but it can fluctuate a bit. My eyebrows growing back was nice (losing the last third of your eyebrows is a known symptom).

ClientQ · 04/06/2020 20:32

They've put me on a low dose to be reviewed in 6 weeks. TSH was 7.5 and T4 11

Sorry to hear that ClientQ. Does that mean they will make a referral now?

nettie434 · 04/06/2020 20:44

Whoops - started replying before the last few posts. Sounds as if the thyroxine will make a difference then. That's good but you could have started it weeks ago if they hadn't decided to leave it.

Allergictoironing · 04/06/2020 23:10

Bah - Boycat seems to have something wrong with his eye! It's been a bit runny the last couple of days, then just this evening I noticed a pink lump on his lower left eyelid.

Obviously need to call the vet tomorrow morning, but any thoughts?

TheLongRider · 04/06/2020 23:47

Eek, I haven't seen something like that before @Allergic. Will he let you hold him and have a look. Is it possible he's got something stuck under the edge of his eyelid.

Papergirl1968 · 05/06/2020 00:01

Oh poor boy - looks like an infection?

coastergirl · 05/06/2020 01:54

Ah sorry, I've no idea about the eye. I have very positive news about my boys. They are both asleep on the sofa next to me. I'm so happy they've made friends again. They both refused to come in last night too but were both at the door yelling at me this morning.

Allergictoironing · 05/06/2020 08:21

Having Googled last night (always fatal when you're worried about health) it looks like it's either something in his eye, inflammation of the tear duct, or conjunctivitis. Apparently it's also a symptom of feline Herpes, but as he's an indoor only cat in otherwise perfect health I discounted that. He's now a bit puffy under his eye as well.

Had to be Boycat didn't it! The one who is absolutely terrified of anyone except me.

Good news at least Coastergirl Smile

nettie434 · 05/06/2020 08:56

Good luck at the vets with Boycat, Allergic. How will he be if you have to give him eye drops? Good to hear about Walter and Bertie Coastergirl.

Allergictoironing · 05/06/2020 09:06

He won't be great, but probably better than Girlcat would be. My fear is him having to go in for a stay for any reason, he would be distraught bless his tiny little brain. Can take him up to 2 days to recover from his annual MoT, and that's with me in attendance all the time.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 05/06/2020 09:29

Good luck with BoyCat Allergic.

Bet you were happy to see both boys this morning coaster!

Allergictoironing · 05/06/2020 09:49

Well I have an appointment to take him in this afternoon, plus I've sent them the pic I posted on here. Nurse said they would look at the pic and decide whether he needs to be seen or not, but if I don't hear from them then to take him in.

Papergirl1968 · 05/06/2020 11:01

Hopefully it’s something they can just issue drops for, Allergic.
Great news, Coaster. I wonder if Bertie goes back to the old house when he wanders as you said it was nearby. Sounds like he has settled well into the new house though.

Allergictoironing · 05/06/2020 17:12

Back from the vet. Apparently he was incredibly well behaved even though they put fluorescein in his eye, then a topical anaesthetic followed by a cotton bud to check for any scratches, ulcers, or anything behind the eye.

Current diagnosis is a probable infection of the tear duct, have antibiotic steroid drops to do 3 times a day & back on Monday. Looks like I may get a bit of use out of their insurance at this rate!

Supersimkin2 · 05/06/2020 17:21

Reassuring, that. Well done eh

ClientQ · 05/06/2020 17:29

What a good boy for the vet Smile
I get phone calls saying "we can't hold him, can we sedate him?" Hmm

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 05/06/2020 17:50

Eye drops were always my biggest fear.

Asbo couldn’t be sedated, it didn’t work enough so they gave him GA to have a blood test to check he was ok to have a GA Hmm

The nice chief nurse took over next visit & only one GA was needed. Original vet was prejudiced against Bengals if you ask me.

ClientQ · 05/06/2020 17:55

Ollie today has managed to throw up on the carpet again (I think it's time for his steroid jab if he keeps doing it) and walk across my laptop, putting me and my caller on mute Grin

OP posts:
Papergirl1968 · 05/06/2020 17:56

Aww, well done, Boycat.

nettie434 · 05/06/2020 18:07

Good boy Boycat! Oh dear, Ollie. Does it have to be on the carpet? You've given me an idea though. 'Sorry, my cat put you on mute,' sounds like a great excuse to use during a difficult call Smile

Allergictoironing · 05/06/2020 18:08

I think he was probably paralysed with fear poor boy. But then I never had any fear he would bite or scratch, he just doesn't & neither does Girlcat - politest cats I've ever met.

He hid behind the sofa for 30 mins, then slunk upstairs. He's now either under my bed or in the back corner of the wardrobe hiding.

ClientQ · 05/06/2020 18:09

Always on the carpet. Not the old one, the new one too. Luckily it's bleachable, I wasn't going for £££ stuff with a prone to chucking up cat

Supersimkin2 · 05/06/2020 18:22

Asbo - legend, then and now Grin
