Since you've had cats/a cat , what have they wrecked?

Our two Fur Overlords came into our lives in May .

I knew (from previous Cat Slavery) that the hall/stairs carpet would basically Cop It .
(The carpet is old but a good one)

So in less than a year:

The carpet outside DD room when Female Cat wants in.
The carpet at the top of the stairs where it folds , they've unfolded and they've ruffled it
The carpet outside DS room
The strip between the carpet/laminate ...it was loose , just needed a bit of intensive pawing at
My tablecover - oilcloth . Been torn by Female cat on the edges and the drape .
A box of garden shoes , shredded , when there's a lovely cat scratching post.
My fruitbowl, over 20 years old , thrown onto the floor by Female cat
A glass fruitbowl, went the same way by the same Furry Culprit .
( I now have a metal one . She is very judgey)
Wallpaper in DD bedroom, by the door and the window.
A wall shelf , only lightweight but Female cat took umbrage at it just being there .
My nerves when I had to take my lovely male to the vet for the first time in a car I had owned less than 2 hours . He was yowling like a peacock . (But fine after thankfully)

So what else have your DCats vandalised ?

Our beautiful oxblood chesterfield sofa Envy covered in tiny kitten scratch marks from him falling off the back of it while asleep!

TenThousandSpoons · 22/04/2020 19:34

2 x sofas and the bottom step of the stairs 🙄

therona · 22/04/2020 19:34

A door, all the carpets, two dining chairs.

margaritasbythesea · 22/04/2020 19:34

My boy kitten is currently munching his way through Ds's home made papier mache Tracy Island.

Look at him, exhausted by his efforts Hmm

BrooHaHa · 22/04/2020 19:36

Sofa. Just one. Since it's replacement, dCat is not permitted to be in the living room unsupervised.

BrooHaHa · 22/04/2020 19:36

*its not it's

Michelleoftheresistance · 22/04/2020 19:40

Skirting board shredded by boy cat on the grounds he said there was a mouse behind it.

Two stair carpets murdered by girl cat no 1

Several plants dropped on the floor by girl cat no 1 who likes to push things off surfaces as a hobby.

A portable electric piano, which they had found under a bed where it had been put for safekeeping from the puppy trying to eat it. That was killed by their copiously throwing up all over it, soaking it well down into the electrics. My suspicions are on girl cat no 2 for that one.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/04/2020 20:12

Nothing, my two aren't proper cats!

tillytoodles1 · 22/04/2020 20:20

My leather sofa was clawed to bits
All the woodwork around the doors have deep gouges even though I bought a scratch post. Countless ornaments have been smashed due to them being knocked onto the floor. I could go on, it amazes how how such small animals can wreak so much havoc

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/04/2020 20:22

Strangley they haven't attacked our sofa (ikea Erktop old and saggy , bought when the DC were little and onto its 3rd cover )
Maybe they think its beneath them Grin

We keep thinking of replacing it but we'd need to have The Chat with them .

Corners of carpets
Took a huge dump in my kids sandpit

chunkyrun · 22/04/2020 20:23

I was oblivious to this until my son walked in clutching cat shit in his hands

TroysMammy · 22/04/2020 20:26

Not much although he does have a sly scratch at the sofa when we are sitting on it.

There are numerous kitten teeth marks all over my gardening clogs but they are wearable.
He launched himself one too many times at his cat tree, it was a cheap one and we found when it collapsed it was made from thick cardboard tubes. Unfortunately just after it collapsed he forgot it wasn't there and launched himself, smack bang into the patio doors.
He is only 10 months old so there's plenty of time to ruin things.

Itslookinglikeabeautifulday · 22/04/2020 20:31

Female aged 6, male aged five. Had both since kittens:
•My skin, when boycat ran up my bare leg as a kitten (ouuuuccchhhh).
•Leather three-piece (it was pretty old and the hamster that came before the cats had already burrowed into it once or twice)
•Our lovely new carpets at every door that’s ever been shut (ffs)
•the upright at the bottom of the stair banister - they are totally ripping that to shreds.
•a beautiful pale blue leather jacket that boycat put two puncture marks in the front of (sob).
All in all, hundreds of pounds of damage so far, but wouldn’t be without them.

I've heard that if you mix a large amount of cinnamon into the sand, cats won't go in it. I'm not sure how accurate this information is though, as it comes courtesy of Facebook. Alternatively, you can buy a pop up camping tent, fill it with sand and then zip it up when not in use. Ideally you want one that opens up on both sides to create a through-draft when in use. A bonus is that it provides shade.

violetbunny · 22/04/2020 20:43

Curtains are shredded. Brand new sofa also seriously clawed. They're just lucky they're so cute or else I would make the two of them into a pair of slippers Grin

I have four cats and one dog. Two were adopted strays who like their new 'hotel' so much they have decided to personalise the space...destroying new wallpaper in the lounge and all around my bed...it looks like Freddie Kruegar visited. One of our cats likes to chew leads...she chewed through the washing machine water outlet pipe and had a nice little shower when she got trapped in the utility room. I caught her trying to chew her way through the nice, new property earth wiring that had just been installed in the meter cupboard.

All four cats are kept in at the moment due to COVID-19. I am on permanent kitty litter duty...THANK GOODNESS for the invention of febreeze!!!

Allergictoironing · 22/04/2020 21:04

Wallpaper - Boycat obviously doesn't approve of the somewhat out dated decor in the living room.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/04/2020 21:08

Our old boy had a real thing for flip flops. He could shred the foam sole of a flip flop in about 30 minutes. And yoga mats, he loved a yoga mat

Want2beme · 22/04/2020 21:49

Carpets scratched and pulled
Carpets peed on
Armchairs scratched
Wooden floor peed on
Fur everywhere
Bed peed on

Vinorosso74 · 22/04/2020 21:50

Ours was about 9 months old when we got him and destroyed a few things. Paper lamp shades in the lounge, nibbled, wooden blinds nibbled and bitten through.
He's 3 now and has calmed down but still likes a chew oh things. His favourite when he wants dinner is to bite something off DD's Lego and run off with it (he spits it out again) so there's frequently decapitated Lego people around.

@chunkyrun my cat shat on my sleeping toddler.

BovaryX · 22/04/2020 22:10

A six foot mirror with a hideous leather surround which I detested. It was propped on the floor during a move and Lord Fur took the opportunity to rip it to shreds whilst watching himself in his act of epic destruction. And then I slung it out.

🤣🤣🤣

sweetkitty · 22/04/2020 22:16

I have three of the clawed overloads, the eldest two aren’t too bad, girl cat has never damaged a thing.
Boy cat 1 has a fetish for plastic bags he destroyed a package that had DHs new designer t-shirt in it, T-shirt was also beyond redemption
He’s chewed one of DD2s crocs
Boy cat 2 (where do I start)
Table leg is his personal scratching post (despite there being one a foot away)
Banister
Wallpaper in living room and bedroom
Curtains in playroom (to be fair the rabbit have also had a nibble on them and the soda in there)
Smashed several glasses
Plant
Lamp he knocked over
