Since you've had cats/a cat , what have they wrecked?

Our two Fur Overlords came into our lives in May .

I knew (from previous Cat Slavery) that the hall/stairs carpet would basically Cop It .
(The carpet is old but a good one)

So in less than a year:

The carpet outside DD room when Female Cat wants in.
The carpet at the top of the stairs where it folds , they've unfolded and they've ruffled it
The carpet outside DS room
The strip between the carpet/laminate ...it was loose , just needed a bit of intensive pawing at
My tablecover - oilcloth . Been torn by Female cat on the edges and the drape .
A box of garden shoes , shredded , when there's a lovely cat scratching post.
My fruitbowl, over 20 years old , thrown onto the floor by Female cat
A glass fruitbowl, went the same way by the same Furry Culprit .
( I now have a metal one . She is very judgey)
Wallpaper in DD bedroom, by the door and the window.
A wall shelf , only lightweight but Female cat took umbrage at it just being there .
My nerves when I had to take my lovely male to the vet for the first time in a car I had owned less than 2 hours . He was yowling like a peacock . (But fine after thankfully)

So what else have your DCats vandalised ?

my sanity and sleep pattern Grin

We've had him just over a month and he hasn't destroyed anything yet.. although he does keep trying to claw my wicker laundry basket.

my sanity and sleep pattern

Grin

When boycat and his brother were teenagers they spent most of the night wild hunting through the house like a pair of thugs, I had to keep the bedroom door closed or was galloped over ever five minutes.

However they did save my bacon in that one night when there was a particularly loud noise downstairs I bellowed rather sternly "All right, what DO you think you're doing down there!"

And two burglars fled the scene Grin

All my wired headphones. When our two were tiny, they were very good about not chewing cables - except for headphones. Sweat probably. I lost six or seven pairs, and expensively replaced them all with bluetooth. So much better! And noisecancelling too. So, thanks girls I guess?

We have 1 cat and 4 kittens
So far they have clawed the bottom stair, 2 dining chairs, a mattress, the side of a leather armchair and my sandals 😂
Thankfully I'm not house proud
Love them all to pieces though.

Landing and stair carpet complete, landing because that's where I have to have the litter trays (don't ask why, my dogs are disgusting) and girl-cat likes to pee over the side, and stairs because she has clawed the front of every step to a fluffy mess.

Our bed, we foolishly bought a divan type and they have clawed it so much the foam under the covering is now shredded at the corners and I'm forever picking up bits where they've had another go.

Wallpaper on landing and in our bedroom, both are overdue decorating and had slight lifts at the bottom edges which girl-cat clearly found impossible to resist. She's been working on them for a while and has about a 6 inch square fully stripped in both places now.

My sanity, girl-cat complains constantly and I have no idea why. I try my hardest to be a good slave and anticipate her every need but I'm clearly getting it badly wrong. Old boy also complains constantly but I do at least know what his problem is, he has kidney issues and is constantly hungry. I'm feeding him every 3 hours through the day now (he needs little and often) but we think he also has some dementia issues and seems to forget he's just been fed so he's pretty relentless, if I'm in the kitchen he thinks I should be feeding him.

I'm sure there are other smaller things but they're the main ones, I'm now finding myself choosing new furniture according to what they can't ruin rather than my actual preferences, how the fuck have I ended up here?! Confused

@Michelleoftheresistance He comes up to bed at 10pm with us and settles pretty quickly. We aren't at the point of trusting him on his own downstairs yet (only been with us a month) but he's happy in our room for the time being. It's the 6am cat bum in my face that I don't appreciate and if I don't instantly wake up and shower him with affection he jumps over me and sits on my husband (which is fine with me but my husband is grumpy when he wakes up).

We will let him have free roam of the front room / upstairs when we are sure he won't cause havoc :)

He has plenty to occupy him in our room (tree, toys, cushions etc) but I would give my right arm for a lie in occasionally!

ClientQ · 23/04/2020 14:35

Nothing. He picks his way v carefully over stuff, would not dream of scratching furniture and is horrified if he accidentally knocks something over
I think he's actually a fur cushion with legs Confused

Ours aren't too bad compared to some here, but they have knocked over a glass vase and smashed it (girl cat) and chewed through the WiFi cable (boy cat).

@margaritasbythesea your beautiful cat looks the spitting image of mine that passed away last year, had to take a double look to make sure I wasnt seeing things!
Also my other cat had destroyed my suede sofa by falling off or seeing a shadow and trying to catch it Hmm

Since you've had cats/a cat , what have they wrecked?
margaritasbythesea · 23/04/2020 15:11

Oh gosh yes. They're so similar, even down to tbe markings and white little chin. I hope it didn't upset you. Flowers
