I'm so so sad, my lovely little cat has died.

He'd not been well for a while, got very thin, was struggling to breathe and every day when I came downstairs I'd be anxious to see if he was still alive. But now he's gone. I miss him so much, I keep looking out the French windows, hoping to see his little face but he's crawled off in the garden to die alone. I just miss him so much, he was the sweetest little thing and, in lockdown, my little friend, as I live alone. I know pp are facing real losses right now, but this just hurts so much. I posted on here as I know other cat lovers would understand how much love you can feel for a cat. Every time I think of him, and his funny little ways, I start crying. I can't believe I'll never see him again...Sad

So sorry for your loss, he looks lovely in that picture and I can tell from your post he must have had a great little character too X

Neeks888 · 16/04/2020 19:27

So sorry, we went through the same last year when my little boy cat died, wish you peace in the days to come xx

RoryGilmoree · 16/04/2020 19:28

I'm so sorry for your loss Thanks

Destinysdaughter · 16/04/2020 19:37

Can't believe someone is asking me to prove he has died? Do they want me to post a picture of his corpse??

I wrote a long post but lost it. Anyhow, thanks for all the kind words, he was a stray cat that my mum adopted. He used to be very timid and would cower down when you went to stroke him, but over time, he blossomed and was the most purry cat I've ever met! Both my parents have passed away since so the last few years it was just me and my lovely little baby.

I'm so so sad, my lovely little cat has died.

I'm not asking you to prove it, I'm asking you to go and check. Your post just comes across as assuming. Have you actually checked? There still might be time to get him to a vet.

thefourgp · 16/04/2020 19:43

I’m sorry for your loss OP. Cats are part of your family. Tell us more about him. X

Habibtihayati · 16/04/2020 19:44

I'm so sorry @Destinysdaughter. It's such an awful feeling losing a loved pet - and he looks like he was adorable! Beautiful markings and such a sweet little face.

Be kind to yourself, indulge in a duvet day watching rubbish TV if you can. Sending love ❤️

Toddlerteaplease · 16/04/2020 19:47

So sorry, it's awful. But at least he was at home with you.

Ilovemyhairbeingstroked · 16/04/2020 19:47

Aw what a gorgeous cat . I’m very sorry for your loss , and it is real loss .

Ilovemyhairbeingstroked · 16/04/2020 19:48

I’ve seen lots of cat charities recalling struggling in this climate . Could you look into Fostering one ? Not the same I know.

thequeenbeyondthewall · 16/04/2020 19:48

hartof · 16/04/2020 19:49

So sorry for your loss. Our car was knocked over a week ago tomorrow and I am still absolutely devastated. Take time to grieve and hopefully in time you'll be able to think back to happier times with a smile Thanks

HappyHammy · 16/04/2020 19:53

What a beautiful cat. He knows he was loved and of course you will miss him. We were devastated when our little kitty died. Sending you lots of hugs. Be kind to yourself. Flowers

ALovelyBitOfSquirrel · 16/04/2020 19:54

Ah op I'm so sorry. But please don't feel it's not a real loss, it's your real loss and is no less important than others. Be kind to yourself and take comfort in knowing he loved you and knew he was loved. Losing a pet is devastating and never feel it's not important. It is. Thanks

raffaroo · 16/04/2020 19:55

I'm so sorry you have lost your little cat, he sounds lovely x

HalfTermHalfTerm · 16/04/2020 20:00

To defend @gamerchick I wasn’t entirely sure from your first post whether or not he had definitely passed away yet. I don’t think they meant anything by it.

He was a beautiful cat, I’m very sorry. Please take care of yourself.

he was a stray cat that my mum adopted. He used to be very timid and would cower down when you went to stroke him, but over time, he blossomed and was the most purry cat I've ever met!

How lovely that you gave him a good home and he gave you so much love in return.

mazza256 · 16/04/2020 20:28

There is a lovely poem called rainbow bridge, you can google it. It provided me huge comfort when my cat died, I cried and cried reading it but it did help

ofwarren · 16/04/2020 20:39

I'm so sorry. Losing a pet is painful isn't it. I've still not got over losing my dog 25 years ago. Even now I well up just thinking about him. He was my best friend.
Your cat is beautiful. What is his name?

He looks gorgeous Destinysdaughter. So very sorry for your loss - especially as he was a link to your parents too.

Potterspotter · 16/04/2020 21:09

Beautiful cat. Losing a pet is losing a link to you parents and your past too isn’t it? I felt the same about a pet I lost recently, that sense of time having passed that can’t be regained.

In the end I can only say that eventually I started remembering more of the earlier part of my pet’s life and that made it not feel so lost.

damnthatanxiety · 16/04/2020 21:12

OP, we lost one of our yesterday. She was 16 and went downhill really suddenly. I share your pain.

catlovingdoctor · 16/04/2020 21:12

So sorry for your loss x

mogloveseggs · 16/04/2020 21:13

Flowers I'm sorry
