Pregnant cat

A few weeks back a cat came to our house and didn't want to leave. We tried all the tricks to find an owner but nobody claimed her so we kept her. Little did we know, she was pregnant and is due in a week or maybe 2 according to the vet.
I forgot to ask about her going outside after the kittens are born. She's in full time at the moment as I don't want her giving birth outside. It's only been for the last week and she is already crying at the door to go out.

Obviously she isn't spayed so is it best to keep her in until the kittens are weaned?

Any other advice to newbies surrounding the whole birth and kittens thing?

I've been reading as much as possible but it's nice to hear from others who have actually experienced it.

She seems fine and there is two out now that are both squeaking.
She's just washing the second one now

I was in bed and got text off my husband from the living room.
She wouldn't leave him alone when he wanted to go to bed and then hid in a cat box we have, which is far too small for kittens.

I run a cat rescue and I just wanted to say thank you for giving mum and babies a home and for knowing to get them neutered 😀

On the neutering thing, vets do vary but there is one, in Wales, that neuters for Cats' Protection from 2 weeks.

The black one isn't as good at getting milk as the others. Do I help it? It just seems to be pushing the others rather than getting it's own teat.
I've tried putting it on but it doesn't hold on. It opens its mouth.

I don't know about latching a kitten, I know you can get milk for kittens from a vet and use a pipette.

I do know kittens like to have one teat that they will always go back to.

Mums not looking too impressed with the whole natural labour thing is she?.

If you ring your vet they’ll have a nurse on duty who can advise.

He definitely latched and sucked because I heard the sucking sound. He didn't do it for long though.
At least I know he can.

They really cry don't they. Never heard her make those sounds before. Such a primal noise.

So we have one black, 2 black and whites and a tabby!
