My neighbour adopted a timid cat from a rescue place at the weekend. Last night it disappeared through a window.

I don’t know where to start to look for it. I’ve suggested putting the litter tray outside and some food. But other than that I’m clueless.

So calling on the advice of the litter tray!! What on Earth can I do and where to start looking? We are rural.

I’m concerned for the welfare of this poor kitty.

Well done op, at least the cat is safe. Are your neighbours elderly? If it's a case of a young cat being too active/quick for them then possibly a more sedate elderly cat might suit them better, providing they understand to keep windows closed! At least you can sleep knowing you've done the right thing. Smile

Yes, they are very elderly and not in good health at all. The previous cat they had was very much loved and died suddenly and unexpectedly which is why they got this cat. I expect they will get another cat. I suggested getting a calm sensible cat who was a good cuddle companion, but they wanted a young cat.

Oh dear. An elderly cat would be perfect for them assuming they had contingency plans for if they went first :(.

Oh I'm so pleased you managed to catch it again, poor little thing.
It was a crazy idea them wanting to have a really young cat when there are loads of older cats wanting homes.
Oh well I hope she will find a nice warm loving home soon.

I don’t know the reasons for their choice of cat, but really the rescue were wrong to let them have an young cat and also not do a home check first.
