Adopting a retired Bengal stud??

So tomorrow I’m off to see a retired Bengal stud who’s looking for his forever home?

I’m already in love with him, what questions do I need to ask??

Any help would be much appreciated I’ve always had cats from tiny kitten ages!

Many thanks

@mistermagpie, I loved that they are sleeping on a leopard print bed.

Vinorosso74 · 16/08/2019 18:44

He is a handsome beast! Looks like he'll settle in just fine.

EachandEveryone · 16/08/2019 22:42

Has he found the litter tray yet?

LittleGinBigGin · 16/08/2019 23:09

Yes had a wee and a poo, also eaten his dinner.

Currently he’s asleep in his bed.

I will leave him in peace for tonight in the en-suite, let him get used to it all.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 17/08/2019 11:33

Asbo the second ...

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/08/2019 11:35

What litter are you using?.

LittleGinBigGin · 17/08/2019 11:44

Luckily he must have just done it, so I’ve stripped the bed and it’s in the wash now with some enzyme stuff, and I’ve sprayed the mattress (knew I should have put the mattress protector back on) duvet is soaking in the bathtub in that stuff, and will wash it once the bedding has finished.

I’m using the same litter stuff that he had previously it’s wood pellets from pet at home. It’s his own litter tray he came with.

Right, try sanicat gold litter & order some cystease tablets but not from amazon as it’s grey market. Two capsules a day in food. Ours drinks more now he has filtered water. It could be he doesn’t like wood litter, it’s quite rough on paws that don’t go outside. Like walking on Lego.

Try a huge litter tray, enough litter to be ankle deep.

Remember when you said you didn’t mind high maintenance?.

LoafofSellotape · 17/08/2019 12:21

I live my Bengal, the family dote on him but we won't be getting another one Grin

Good luck OP, never ever try to train him, he will train you and just accept that Wink

LittleGinBigGin · 17/08/2019 12:38

@Fluffycloudland77

Thank you I shall have a look now and get some ordered or if they sell some at pets at home I will nip out and buy some.

Also looking at different cat litter. His tray is massive, I don’t think I can buy a bigger one?

Do you think I should try filtered water? He has been drinking the water from the tap.

Sorry to hijack your thread LittleGinBigGin but can I just ask Fluffycloudland77 about Cystease? I have an 11 year old maine coon/persian cross female who I have never been able to stop weeing behind the sofa! I've tried enzyme sprays and feliway but still she does it. Isn't Cystease just to help with cystitis?

LoafofSellotape · 17/08/2019 13:27

Cystease is to help with UTI yes. We give it daily to ours after 2 really nasty bouts.

LittleGinBigGin · 17/08/2019 14:58

Duvet and bedding have been completed cleaned with enzymes stuff just waiting for it to dry! After washing I’ve re washed as it stinks..

Luckily I have a spare duvet in case it’s not dry by tonight, Mattress even tho I don’t think much got onto it as also been done with the carpet cleaner and enzyme stuff just in case. And the waterproof mattress protector will be put back on.

The little bugger was sat watching us the whole time Grin

And he has used his litter tray since.

Hopefully he won’t decided my bed is a good replacement for his litter tray again!!!

He has given us lots of cuddles and played with me.

When I first got bengals, one of them (this was kittens mind you) kept weeing on my bed. I realised I had a cover on it, like a bedspread thing, that my old cat had slept on a lot. I got rid of that and he never weed on it again.

If he seems stressed - weeing is a sign of stress even if outwardly he seems happy enough, my one that started spraying seemed absolutely fine but the spraying was the indication - then I found pet remedy better than feliway. Plus zylkene capsules in their food can help. Lemon zoflora is great for cleaning (don't let the cat near it obviously) and they don't like citrus so can be a deterrent too.

mistermagpie · 17/08/2019 18:07

Sorry, my point was - is there anything similar re. the bed covers?
