I opened some tuna cat soup last night for Matt and was horrified to find three actual whole fish in there, with heads and eyes. One fish had been decapitated. It made my stomach heave. I can never look at fish on the fishmonger stall in the supermarket.
I gave him the rest of the soup but not the fish.
Is this what tuna look like? Am I being a wuss? I've given him thus soup before and never seen whole fish in it!

Oh, I didn't know anchovies were fish!

Tuna is a big fish. Those are anchovies

CosyToast · 06/02/2019 12:20

They're those teeny ones haha did your cat like them? Mine eats anything!

dementedpixie · 06/02/2019 12:20

What did you think anchovies were?

YesItsMeIDontCare · 06/02/2019 12:21

Anchovies in a Chicken Caesar Salad are delicious!

Tuna are actually big buggers I think.

Papergirl1968 · 06/02/2019 12:21

He didn't get the chance but I'm sure he'd have had them.
I have no idea what I thought anchovies were!

It says contains anchovies and those are anchovies.

What's your point?

Megan2018 · 06/02/2019 12:23

To be fair if that wasn't cat food I'd eat it! Love anchovies Grin
Wink: wink Wink

AutumnCrow · 06/02/2019 12:24

I gave him the rest of the soup but not the fish

So you stood there and picked them out?

Papergirl1968 · 06/02/2019 12:27

I spooned them out, yes.
I've just googled the soup and it appears from official shots that yes, whole fish with eyes are meant to be in there.
I won't buy that particular flavour again!

Tuna are bloody massive.

You should be pleased that your pet food contains actual recognisable meat/fish. Lots don’t.

But cat like fish. They are carnivores. Why did you take them out?

greenelephantscarf · 06/02/2019 12:29

so you didn't give your pet the most nutritious part of their food Confused

brownmare · 06/02/2019 12:29

Brings a whole new meaning to 'wholefoods' doesn't it? Grin

At least you know it's got proper fish in there, not some sugar and cereal rubbish.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 06/02/2019 12:30

I won’t buy that particular flavour again

It isn’t meant to appetising for you [confusing]

Darkbaptism · 06/02/2019 12:30

Your cat probably would have loved them!

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 06/02/2019 12:31
Confused
TeddyIsaHe · 06/02/2019 12:31

I honestly despair. Why have you taken them out? How do you think fish look anyway? They don’t come out of the sea already filleted.

NetballHoop · 06/02/2019 12:31

I take it you're not a fan of whitebait then Grin

Your cat would have loved those fish, heads and all.

SunnySomer · 06/02/2019 12:31

Well, who knew that cats ate soup?
(Sorry unhelpful contribution from a non-cat owner)

Tidderbus · 06/02/2019 12:32

Says contains anchovies, and it contains anchovies - can’t see a problem Hmm our cats have whole dried fish with eyes and everything I’m sure if they catch a mouse they’re not too fussy which bits they eat

ElizabethMainwaring · 06/02/2019 12:32

Yes, you are being a wuss. And wasteful. The cat would have loved them.

Papergirl1968 · 06/02/2019 12:37

He was only given soup as a supplement to the 10,000 meals he'd already had yesterday. He had chicken for his tea, which I do know comes from...er, chickens.
I just have a bit of a phobia about fish heads and eyes, although I know I'm a total hypocrite as I'm happy to eat it battered from the chippy.
