If your cat fell in a bin FULL of curry, how would you best clean her?

Dcat's had an accident round the back of the takeaway.
I've showered her off, but she's still quite greasy, a bit orange in parts, and smells of curry. I didn't want to use soap/shampoo as wasn't sure about her skin. Is there such thing as cat shampoo?

Oh dear.
Yes there is such a thing as cat shampoo. You'll need very thick gloves as well. Long ones.

2cats2many · 04/02/2019 21:00

Get the dog to lick her clean.

WitchDancer · 04/02/2019 21:01

Let her clean herself - she'll be doing the wall of death once the curry kicks in 😂

BobDobbs · 04/02/2019 21:01

Oh dear. I'm impressed that you managed to get her in the shower tbh. If I got that far I think I would have shampooed her while I was at it.

MamaDane · 04/02/2019 21:01

Cat shampoo exists. We've had a few accidents with our kitties as well. Go the pet store and get some kitty soap, make sure to water it down and give her a good scrub. Maybe prepare a nice warm towel, by putting it on the radiator, before using it.

WarCat · 04/02/2019 21:02

Just use sensitive human shampoo if you have it. Bath. Scrub as much as you can whilst someone else pins her down wearing gloves and a thick coat, then release cat and be prepared for death stares for many days!

Redtartanshoes · 04/02/2019 21:03

Good luck 😂

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/02/2019 21:04

Dont every try and put your cat into a bath already containing water (bitter voice of experience)

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/02/2019 21:04

I’d use human shampoo i this situation. Poor girl.

When DCat came back from the farm next door covered in something smelly & greasy we ran a warm bath, slathered him in baby shampoo, dunked him & scrubbed. It took three of us, wearing gardening gloves. He was one pissed off puss, but it did the job & he smelled lovely afterwards.

Orchidflower1 · 04/02/2019 21:05

Baby shampoo - I’ve never bathed my cat but surely if it’s ok on a newborn it must be ok on dcat?!

Herja · 04/02/2019 21:06

The vet advised washing up liquid when cat got engine oil all over him, I expect it works for curry oil too... I put it on him and massaged in a bit before putting the shower on him, sped the scratching and yowling bit up slightly.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 04/02/2019 21:07

Don't laugh, you swines!
It's the greasy chucked out curry oil, rather than the sauces proper. All over her feet and nose and underside. Everyone and everything smells of it, as the chase to catch her was a four-man, multi-room job. And now there's a load of rogan josh coloured paw prints on my bedroom carpet as well.

I hope this will be a lesson to her with regard to bin-diving.

It's going to bhuna hard few days for that cat. Hope you can rice to the occasion and cumin rescue her.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 04/02/2019 21:08

Kitten tikka masala perhaps.

Dog shampoo works - only ever had to use it once but the cat smelt lovely afterwards.

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 04/02/2019 21:10

She'll be shitting fast and furious as well with all that lubricant as well.

Zillaindie · 04/02/2019 21:13

Baking soda for the smell.

Mix some with a little water and we used baby shampoo as it's all we had.

DC stupidly fell into a blocked drain when we took the manhole cover off.

Took about three washes over a week to get rid of the stains but the smell went pretty instantly

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 04/02/2019 21:15

I’m sorry but this is the funniest thread Ive seen for a while. Part of me is 😳 but the rest is 😂.

There’s a joke in these somewhere (Katsu maybe but l know that’s not Indian...)

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 04/02/2019 21:16

Put a towel in the bottom of the bath so that she doesn’t skid about.

Baby shampoo "no tears" type sounds sensible if you have any. Photos would obviously be appreciated!

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 04/02/2019 21:21

Obviously korma for her past misdemeanours....

Eve · 04/02/2019 21:25

Has no one asked for a photo yet?
