Had to have my cat put to sleep tonight.

Hi! Not sure why I'm posting really except that I come from a family of non-animal lovers so I have nobody irl to talk to. Got a knock on the door tonight saying "is this your cat" and it was, in a pool of blood. He'd been hit by a car, took him to the vet and made the decision to say goodbye to him. He's been a member of our family for 9years and me and ds are so sad.

I’m so very sorry it’s just awful when it happens. I know some people just don’t understand.

Thanks everybody, here he is when I first got him...... he'd been massively badly treated and was actually almost an adult (the vet thought) but still looked like a kitten because he'd been starved. I don't have a photo but he was a little fatty in the end. He was a people cat from the first day, liked nothing better than a cuddle.

I'm so sorry. Cats have their own personalities and the loss of that is hard. Especially when they are the cuddly ones.

Too true @KingBobra wherever he was in the house, when he heard me start story time with ds, he'd dash in and settle down between us. That's a good memory to keep.

I have to do that tomorrow, my elderly cat can barely stand and I’ve selfishly been trying to get through Christmas with her. We’ve all been cuddling her tonight (4 children all crying) and I’m so grateful we at least have this night together. It’s awful when they get in an accident (had that too) as there’s no preparation. I’m so sorry .

I had my cat put to sleep yesterday too. He had oral cancer and was ten years old. I rescued him 3 years ago and he blossomed into a wonderful kind cat. I miss him dreadfully and it was one of the worst days of my life yesterday, I’ve known it was coming for months which has been torturous and I have had watched him decline. I feel lost today. I feel your pain and I’m so sorry for your loss Xxxxx
