Had to have my cat put to sleep tonight.

Hi! Not sure why I'm posting really except that I come from a family of non-animal lovers so I have nobody irl to talk to. Got a knock on the door tonight saying "is this your cat" and it was, in a pool of blood. He'd been hit by a car, took him to the vet and made the decision to say goodbye to him. He's been a member of our family for 9years and me and ds are so sad.

Bless you I know what you mean, they become part of your life don't they? I keep going to the back door and randomly opening it.

So sorry to hear that. I had to have both my cats put to sleep a couple of months apart at the end of last year (unexpected) and the start of this year (his time had come). I wept buckets over both of them.

Oh god it was awful, I held her tiny head in my hand and watched her just slip away and feel so mean that she had to go (the vet said I could take her home and see how long she’d last there but as she could barely carry her own weight I thought that was too mean). My children have been sobbing, it’s much worse than I even thought.

I’m so sorry for everyone who has had to do this coming up to Christmas. My little old man has kidney disease and is a bit wobbly on his legs but I’m hoping to get through the next week.
