Name this cat please!

I've taken in a cat who has been living in a box on a doorstep for at least a few months. I wasn't too concerned when it was warmer but have been making enquiries since the cold weather and it has become clear that she has inadequate care and nowhere else to go.

Neighbours say she was left behind when previous owners moved, and she has definitely been spending all night every night outside in a plastic cat carrier with a coat partially over it. So, i snuck up and shut her in the box while she was asleep, and now she's in my kitchen!

Taking her to the vets next week for defleaing, deworming and general checkup, and of course if she turns out to have a microchip then things might go differently, but I'll probably keep her if she doesn't and I need a name ready in that case to register her at the vets.

She is (at least in comparison to my last cat) brick shithouse shaped, has been witnessed killing rats, and wants massive physical rofl cuddles and fuss every time she sees me. This is every hour now she's in my kitchen, she's not bored yet.

Am considering Katniss since my DSD is obsessed with The Hunger Games, all other suggestions much appreciated please!

Male humans also have nipples though!

Catniss. See what I did there? Grin
It does suit her though. You can see it in her eyes.

Unless it's a boy. Then Arthur.

Ex strays were my favourite fosters, they are so glad to be safe and warm and do recognise and appreciate kindness. Cats who have never lacked human care take it for granted. Even strays that start off terrified of people are big softies when they settle in. Yours sounds adorable.

Hmm, my neighbour and resident cat expert thinks he might be a he too. I like Arthur but another neighbours adult son is called Arthur, and he's living with them at the moment, would that be weird?

I always thought I'd call a boy cat Mortimer, Timmy for short. How do you all feel about that?

Mortimer is a great name for a cat.

Mortimer is very noble, what about Stella for a girl? You did say she was a star!

Holly since she appears to be a Christmas cat.

Gorgeous cat, and well done to you for taking her/him on.
Love the name suggestions of Katniss/Catniss for a female. Also, Claudia. Claude for a male (ok, cheesy & not very original - would be my choice if I ever get a male cat).
Good news, if it's a male, is you're not going to have unplanned litter of kittens.
Also, if it's male - don't see any jingle bells? Xmas Grin

Mortimer is a great name for a chunky cat. I wouldn’t worry about using Arthur, we had a cat and a child with the same name for years. We called them Mavis-the-cat and Mavis-the-child when necessary to distinguish between them (obviously not the catual name).

Apologies not rtft but she definitely does look pregnant! Are her nipples quite prominent? If you put a hand on her belly you maybe able to feel kittens in there...

Oh and females 'bits' are close together and males have a bigger space, so bum, balls, penis!! 😂 If it's a boy he looks neutered!

Like cats, never had one - so no real experience of. Always thought cats buried their poo.
My garden is surrounded by hedges/fencing - so, could never work out how I was getting regular "gifts" on the grass.
Not dog.
Not fox.
Not hedgehog (apparently they can do large "gifts").
Eventually seen the culprit. The look of contempt/disdain from that cat had to be seen to be believed! Xmas Grin
