Apparently the cat killer isn't real? How is this?

I thought that there was something secret about the killings that was common to all (so they could be ID) and being kept back form the public (to prevent copy cats).

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 20/09/2018 18:58

I don't believe it for a second. It screams lack of money & resources.

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 20/09/2018 19:00

No harm posting it again, yours in probably more readable than my post. it makes for horrific reading though. Sad

HelenaDove · 20/09/2018 19:14

Absolutely horrific Those poor poor cats , rabbits and their owners.

A head being returned a year later..................would have had to have been stored in a freezer in the interim?

Someone knows who this is.

HelenaDove · 20/09/2018 19:16

And treating the general public like idiots is not going to improve community relations either.

WhatIsThisTomfoolery · 20/09/2018 19:20

I have no cats and I'm not a cat lover at all

But I've followed with interest and I don't believe the police statement.....at all

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 20/09/2018 19:22

And treating the general public like idiots is not going to improve community relations either.

Exactly they must think people are bloody stupid. Their only evidence that it was foxes is because 3 lots of CCTV showed them carrying parts of the cats and some of the cats had fox DNA on them. Now I'm no expert but if you kill an animal and lay it out in display as these cats so often were surely its not rocket science for a scavenger to be attracted to a dead animal...it doesn't mean they killed the cats.

That's like arresting someone for having the misfortune of finding a body whilst on their morning run, just because they were there doesn't mean they were responsible.

HelenaDove · 20/09/2018 19:39

I love cats.

I will never forget the huge amount of support i received on this board when i had to have my beautiful 15 and a half year old tortie PTS back in October 2016. Thanks Thanks It was the hardest thing i have ever had to do and bloody heartbreaking.

It was natural causes and that was hard enough but losing cats in the ways that have been described here................there are no words Sad Sad Thanks Thanks

Delatron · 20/09/2018 19:40

After what SNARL has just posted I don’t know why people are still claiming it’s mass hysteria? Are you able to explain what they posted about the liver of the cats being displayed on a stone? If you could indicate how a fox can do that in multiple cases that would be helpful.

makeorbreak1 · 20/09/2018 19:43

Yeah I think it was common knowledge about the Haribo but every scene had an empty packet there the two I found there was. Really fucked up person x

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/09/2018 20:24

I think we need to fear foxes more. Their obviously more intelligent than we knew.

I'm sure I read an article about dead sheep being found mutilated and strung over a tree branch like leopards do. That was blamed on foxes too.

I've seen black leopards in the countryside, dh saw a mountain lion. Probably foxes disguised.

weelis02 · 20/09/2018 20:39

It is not hysteria to believe that something sinister has been going on. If it was indeed as simple as cats being hit by cars and then beheaded by foxes then surely that would have been happening for as long as we have has cats, cars and foxes in a confined environment. This has only been happening for the last 3 years...

This ^

Totally agree

HelenaDove · 20/09/2018 21:04

Sorry if this has already been posted and there are graphic descriptions.

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 20/09/2018 21:32

Totally agree

Thank you.

That article was a very tough read, just like the Snarl statement. I am glad hat most people see that the 'official line' from the police for what it is.

I think the lady in the article hits the nail on the head with this one sentence:

“There is a psychopath out there who will become a serial killer but the police just don’t want to know. It’s disgusting.”

This is not the last we will hear of this, I sadly think next time it is unlikely to be a pet that is the target.

Delatron · 20/09/2018 22:40

On the BBC news now. ‘Police hope their conclusion will reassure the public. Err no.

SNARL managed to get some info across about their findings but not enough really. I hope victims kick up a fuss. Completely unacceptable.

HelenaDove · 21/09/2018 00:19

Ive just looked at the Snarl fb page (i had to stop i couldnt read anymore) others on there have also said that they have seen building works being done around the same time their poor fur babies were killed.

Rudgie47 · 21/09/2018 06:41

What I don't understand is why couldn't the Police get the DNA of the person from the cats bodies?
That man is more than likely going to be on the Police Database.
Foxes don't really bother healthy cats its more kittens or old/disabled cats they will have a go at.
That's never foxes, we've got loads round here and no cat has been mutilated that I know of. I feel very sorry for any owner who has lost a cat or any other pet in this way.

Womaningreen · 21/09/2018 09:47

I didn't know about the Haribo thing.

I too am thinking these attacks might escalate because he wants the attention.

there's another thread where someone said there were 15 police officers dedicated to the case. not sure what planet they live on.

BertrandRussell · 21/09/2018 09:49

I expect there was a haribo packet next to one of these poor cats-and now it's a "thing". If there really was a marker like that next to every o e there is no way the police would have ignored it.

Womaningreen · 21/09/2018 09:52

Bertrand, the police just don't have the time to deal with this. They have hardly enough time to deal with anything really. I'm not having a go at them for that, I just wish they had said it straight out.

BertrandRussell · 21/09/2018 09:56

If there was a marker beside every dead animal, the police would not have ignored it. And presumably there would have been forensic evidence that would make it possible to identify the person concerned.

Womaningreen · 21/09/2018 10:08

Bertrand, no offence, but I feel like you are quite closed minded on this one, so I will reply once but then after that, we will agree to disagree.

I'm not saying every killing had this. I'm not even saying every killing was this killer. Or that the killer is one person.

I'm saying there is enough evidence - starting in the area where my sister lives, so personal knowledge - that this is not foxes and I would rather that the Met had been honest about it. We may need to accept that the police need to reduce what they do, in line with their budget, full stop - and this might mean that pet owners choose to handle things differently. (I'm sure a lot of people didn't want to involve the police in the first place).

if the killer wants more attention, this will be a note to escalate.

Deadringer · 21/09/2018 10:24

As a pp said foxes do sometimes remove the heads of rabbits and leave the body, but aren't foxes afraid of cats? A friend of mine used to have rabbits and she said that while she had a cat she was never troubled by foxes, but when her cat died they were always in her garden after her rabbits. Most wild animals won't risk injury and cats have very sharp teeth and claws, even large dogs often won't tackle one alone. It's possible that there isn't one cat killer though, there are probably lots of cat hating people out there who kill them randomly, making it almost impossible to catch them.

Rudgie47 · 21/09/2018 11:06

A fox wont take on an adult healthy cat, they just go for disadvantaged ones or kittens. Mine have seen them off out of the garden.

I think people need to keep their cats in on a night and supervise them during the day. Theres lots of cat haters out there. A dog owner threatened to snap my cats neck after he attacked 3 dogs at once. the dogs had no chance, he was that ferocious.

WhatIsThisTomfoolery · 21/09/2018 11:19

Killer dna would surely be present under cat claws in at least some if the cats?

ghostofcasterlyrock · 21/09/2018 13:59

If there was a marker beside every dead animal, the police would not have ignored it. And presumably there would have been forensic evidence that would make it possible to identify the person concerned

They can't do much with any dna without a suspect can they.
