Anyone else really love their cat?

I mean, I love my kids & family...but my god I love my cat! He’s so cuddly and fluffy, always by my side and is just my best friend tbh. Sounds sad but there you go.

Might be a daft question on this board, but does anyone else really, REALLY love their cat?

I love Taffcat

Vet said “He’s a very niiiice cat. Nice nature” Grin

He’d never hurt a human. Gentle as anything with kids. Loves kids.

Prey, however, different matter. Hmm

The kids utterly worship him. Teen DS was very ill this year and in hospital for three weeks. He missed Taffcat v badly so DD sent him lots of vids. He slept on DS when he got home so he’d obv missed him too 😻

He is a ragdoll! I’ve never had one before but fell instantly in love, they are such a funny little breed!
Yours is just stunning JonSnow. Those eyes 😻 does he lick you? Mine grooms us when we stroke him!

Hoobcat. I love her sooooo much, got her from the RSPCA 3 years ago after she'd been dumped with her kittens. She isn't much of a cuddler, but tolerates me more than DH or DS (I occasionally get a 5 minute sit on my lap and can pick her up for a minute before she freaks out). She's just such a good girl and responds to 'outside for wee and poo time' and 'upstairs to bed time', she's so clever.

Jonsnowsghost · 20/09/2018 17:12

Yes! When you stroke him he grabs your hand to lick you. I think of him as a tiny human, his characteristics are more human like than cat!

exWifebeginsat40 · 20/09/2018 17:41

my old lady is awesomely grumpy. the ginger beast is stubborn and minesweeps food bowls. the little cute tortie with the ginger wig is a stone-cold murderer and i adore them all.

but. BUT. my rescue boy, a giant, brown doofus who last week dragged a whole dead pigeon into the living room for me, is the best cat ever.

we got him at 6 months from the RSPCA and i luff him SO MUCH. he is legit enormous, and not a black cat at all.

you may adore him. commence!

Ooh so shiny! Beautiful cat!

JonSnow do you just have the one cat? I’m thinking of getting another to keep mine company when I eventually return to work. I’ve heard ragdolls don’t cope well with being alone a lot.

Yes i truly love my cat. She makes my life better and i would miss her if she wasn't around.
She's a rescue cat, she's beautiful in nature and appearance. She's funny, gentle, a bit dopey but she can catch mice, birds and jump a 6' fence which I can't do.

Yes just him and I work full time, he's fine on his own he sleeps all day on my bed! I've observed no stress behaviours or anything and I've had him 3 years. It helps to be in a routine though so he knows when I'm home.

I don't think he'd want another cat as he's a spoilt only child!

BlueEyedBengal · 20/09/2018 18:54

This is my lovely Bengal Marble cakes . He's always by my side and follows me around the house. He's 9 now and I've had him since he was sold off at 5 months old when he didn't make the grade as a show kitten. I think he was always meant to be my cat and I love him not as much as the kids but pretty close some daysGrin🐱

Aww I love this thread so much.

When i has thyroid issues last year it caused a bout of depression and my eldest/first baby didn't leave my side and he truly did help me through the darkest days.

FurryDice · 21/09/2018 02:12

What a lovely thread. I love my girl so very much. The absolute love of my life (another cat) died two years ago unexpectedly and I still miss her. Always had cats but some just are very special. Well, they’re all special but she was like my soulmate. Yes, I know how that sounds!

It took me a little while to fall in love with my current girl because I got her too soon, I think, And was still grieving. But I adore her now.

Y'ALL ARE MY PEOPLE

ferrier · 21/09/2018 07:47

Me too. I don't know how people can have cats and not totally adore them.

Redact · 21/09/2018 08:24

I have a ragdoll too, almost identical to your one OP. We all just adore her, she's so friendly, cuddly and so loving. She runs to the door to greet us the minute she hears us coming home. The minute we sit down on the sofa she jumps up on to our knees. She sometimes comes to get us just so we can go through and watch her eat her food! She lives us all but when DS home from uni follows him around the house and waits outside the bathroom door for him. My DH adores her the most though and he was the one who originally said there's no cats coming here 😂

Jonsnowsghost · 21/09/2018 08:33

I wish my ragdoll was a lap cat! He just wants to be near you, not sat on you.... except for when I wake up then he sits on my chest for a cuddle Smile he always greets me at the door and also follows me around the house!

YesSheCan · 21/09/2018 10:22

Ah, mine would follow me round the house, come to bed when I went to bed, snuggle me in the morning and sit on anything paperwork-wise I was trying to do! Here she is as a kitten asking for attention when I was painting...

smurfy2015 · 21/09/2018 10:47

Oh yes, I talk to mine and when people come into the house, they get cat talk thru the cat - as in tell Auntie (name) what a lovely fluffball you are, did you give me headbutts at 4am this morning.

I was at the GP yesterday and even she asked how Smurfcat was. She has made it onto my care plans (physical and mental health) I saw a psychiatrist last week who also asked after her.

YesSheCan · 21/09/2018 10:55

Oh smurfy I do miss early morning headbutts and slobbery purry face nuzzles. Sometimes she would pat me on the face with her paw.

YesSheCan · 21/09/2018 10:56

Kudos to your GP and psych for acknowledging how much a pet can help with health
