Lost my girl today. So sudden.

She was fine a week ago. Then suddenly she was sick, and today she was put to sleep. She was only four. I can't pull myself together. She was my sweet girl. I am going to miss her so much. I can't believe it. My eyes are stinging from crying and I just want to sleep for a bit but I can't.

So sorry to hear this sad news Flowers.

So sorry, Flamingoose. It's such a shock. You will miss her, but it will get easier. Let yourself grieve and try to rest. Keep coming back here if you want to talk. We've all been through the loss of our little friends. She'll always be with you Flowers

Flamingoose · 07/04/2018 10:49

Sorry to everyone who knows how awful this is.

I'm just so, so sad. I wasn't expecting this. I keep expecting her to trot in and find the warmest spot to nest in.

💐 you will feel better, but not today, not tomorrow, maybe next month. Once you are over the initial shock, you can take time to remember the good times and realise that her life was filled with love and happiness.

I am so sorry that you are going through this, but you gave her the last gift of love, you didn’t let her suffer. Flowers

So sorry to hear this, we lost our boy 3 weeks ago and it was so devastating- like nothing will ever feel right again. I always made the right sympathetic noises to people when they lost their beloved pets and felt genuinely sorry for them but until having our cat and loving him then losing him, I could never have understood the loss. It excruciating. 3 weeks on and it’s better. Actually adopted another boy from the local rescue last week which I know sounds brutally quick but was right for us. It’s working out well.
Be very kind to yourselves. It does get better, I was feeling better even before taking on a new cat. If you’ve got photos it’s lovely to take comfort from them when you feel ready. Take care x

I'm so sorry how awful to lose such a young cat. Our old girl was PTS last year and I was devastated but knew it was coming and could accept it; she was 15 and had various chronic health issues.

pilates · 07/04/2018 22:00

What a shock for you, so sorry 💐

pinkhousesarebest · 07/04/2018 22:05

So sorry, we lost our boy 8 weeks ago in a rta. The pain is intense, I was shocked st how badly we felt. It does get easier but it is hard to lose such a youngster that you have planned on having for a long time. So unnecessary.

Flamingoose · 07/04/2018 22:30

Thank you for your kind words.

I have lost pets before but this is hitting me especially hard. She was my special girl. Some animals truly touch your heart, and she was my girl. And yes, she was so young. I thought we had the next ten years at least.

I'm a bit better having slept. Trying not to be too dramatic for the sake of the children. Then I get another wave and have to head to the bathroom for a weep. I miss her. I don't want her to be gone.

I know that raw feeling of loss, too. One of our cats succumbed to a sudden illness a couple of years ago. After our initial shock and grief over losing him way too soon, we created a little memorial in the garden for him. We needed a way to express how special our boy was to us. Can you do something like that for your lovely girl? I hope with time fond memories of her will replace the ache of losing her.

Ski40 · 08/04/2018 01:47

So sorry, how awful.. 💔💔
I lost my beautiful Jack Russell girl to bladder cancer in September. We all still cry over her, and we have her ashes inside a big cuddly dog that we can hug when we miss her. It's heartbreaking. Huge hug 💐

So sorry Flowers

I'm so sorry for your loss. We had our beautiful 6yo ginger tom put to sleep Wednesday night as he suddenly developed a blood clot within the space of a couple of hours. Fed him his dinner as normal at 5pm, and by 8pm he was gone. It was so sudden, I'm still not over the shock, so I completely understand how you are feeling. Animals have such a profound effect on our lives, take your time to grieve and be kind to yourself Thanks

Flamingoose · 08/04/2018 06:18

Oh gosh Foxy, how awful for you. I'm so sorry about your boy.

I'm so sorry for all of your losses and especially when it's so sudden and unexpected it must make it so hard. The little furry bundles do find a way into our hearts and family's. I hope things start to feel easier soon Thanks.

Yogagirl123 · 08/04/2018 08:29

So sorry OP, we lost our 18 year old cat last May, he was our last remaining pet, we were so upset, DS1 was taking his GCSES, couldn’t have been a worse time to suffer emotional trauma.

We are very lucky to have spent so many years together, unlike your cat. Way too young and that must make your loss even harder to cope with.

As others have said, time is the only healer, take things easy, cry when you need to. You have made the right decision for your lovely cat. Flowers for you.

QueenieMum · 08/04/2018 08:35

Really sorry for your loss. Posting on here can be quite cathartic so keep posting if you find it helps. We lost our beautiful boy last year and I didn't think I'd get so upset over the loss of a pet. He was very special to me and he has remained very special even though he's no longer here ThanksThanks
