Harry's Results

I've just had the results of Harry's blood test for his heart and it's not good. His proBNP level is 344 and anything over 270 is classed as serious heart disease. I'm sitting at my desk at work in tears as I don't know what to do. As far as I can see I've got three options:

  1. Get a second opinion
  2. Have him referred for tests to see how serious it is and decide on treatment
  3. Leave him be.

Please don't flame me but I'm leaning towards option 3. He's 13 years old, has been through more sedations, tests and operations than I care to remember over the last two years and is absolutely find in himself. He's eating, drinking and playing, doesn't get out of breath and, if he hasn't got long, I want him to be happy in that time, not in and out of vets all the time.

Goodness. Even PB would envy those talons. Grin

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 28/03/2018 21:03

They are rather spectacular and make up for the lack of teeth!

My mind has gone blank - I obviously know who PB is, but what does it stand for? Blush

Precious Boy. (By popular demand. Wink) My rescue Siamese.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 28/03/2018 21:37

Of course! I knew he was Siamese, I knew B is for Boy but I couldn’t for the life of me remember what the P stood for!

I’m very embarrassed for having to ask this and I hope you and PB accept my apologies!

cozietoesie · 28/03/2018 21:43

(It wasn't originally 'Precious' - that may be why you're confused. The lad has some dirty great big ishoos.)

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 28/03/2018 21:48

He’s absolutely gorgeous though! If I ever have a pedigree cat it will be a Siamese.

I shall leave you tonight with Harry and his new friend. The finely dressed bear is my Mum’s teddy and Harry seems to have taken a liking to him. The bear is 87 years old and had to move in with us as I couldn’t put him on the skip!

He's certainly a good looking lad. Smile

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 29/03/2018 07:11

Petplan have agreed the claim for his cough! They may be expensive but I can't fault them.

Good news. Smile

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 08/04/2018 18:33

I thought I’d update about Harry’s cough. He still has it, but it’s almost like a cross between a cough and a sneeze. He got up with me last night, coughed a few times, glared at me as though it was my fault and then marched off to the bathroom.

I really don’t know what to make of it. It doesn’t happen often, he doesn’t seem overly bothered by it and his scans were all clear. I think he’s a medical mystery!

Lovely boy. Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 09/04/2018 16:00

Obviously it's your fault he has a cough. GrinSnorg has one. I thought it was feline asthma but the vet says it's a hairball. I'm not convinced.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 09/04/2018 16:32

I know. It was my fault it was raining this morning.

I'm not convinced he doesn't have feline asthma but I'm not inclined to have him tested. I don't want to put him through any more and his last bill came to nearly £900 to be told there's nothing wrong with him!

cozietoesie · 13/04/2018 20:37

How is the lad doing? Smile

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 14/04/2018 15:48

He’s fine thanks cozie. He’s still coughing occasionally but it doesn’t seem to be getting worse or bother him that much so we’re leaving him be. It doesn’t seem fair to put him through more tests unless it’s absolutely necessary.

He says hello to all his friends on the Litter Tray!
