For those who remember I have lost my darling Billy-Bob almost 7 weeks ago. He had fip. I have always loved Maine coon cats and I would love to get one next spring (unless I find another lost kitten). Would love to hear about Maine coon's owners.

I have one! Sum is around 13/14 now, she was badly treated as a breeding cat and we discovered she has a broken tail and a broken jaw 😔
She’s also very very stupid, they’re supposed to be good hunters but I question Sums ability to do anything other than sleep and run up down our stairs! Had one before her too, who was the total opposite and loved just as much, great breed to have in my opinion!

Tedster77 · 17/11/2017 21:15

All these pictures are amazing. The size of some of them Shock.

Bumpsadaisy im so sorry. That's so awful Sad

Love all your gorgeous cats!

I don't have a Maine Coon, but a Siberian, very similar in both looks and temperament, not as large. He is the soppiest cat I've ever known, might be worth considering too.

RumTiTum... what a fab picture Grin

Oh and Obie says yes to all offers to be another of his wives/slaves.
He likes a full roast dinner but is inclined to puke up the peas later (judging by the evidence... I do NOT give him peas!)

myrtleWilson · 17/11/2017 22:50

We don't have MC's but like rum have Siberians which I think are quite similar - ours are lovely - and are very good at being square and in a tangle

I miss having a floofy cat. They are all gorgeous Smile.

StuntNun · 20/11/2017 18:01

I'm another one with a Siberian Forest Cat. They're not quite as big as Maine Coons but similar in personality. They have the advantage of being less allergenic than other breeds. I can recommend a breeder in Weybridge if you're interested.

Lovely floofs. I've really enjoyed looking at your pics. I knew someone who had 8 Maine Coons and he adored them.

I love this pic. He's a very handsome boy.

Here are our two - one for each of my DSs.

One is an indoor cat and loves to be near people and the other is basically an 'in-eat-out' cat (glad to hear that we're not the only one 4yoniD).

They're gorgeous, and we love them to bits.

Oh stop it you all! I have wanted main coons for EVER but came to the realisation my London house and posage stamp garden are too small to give them the space they need.

AfterSchoolWorry · 21/11/2017 20:23

I'm so jealous! Gorgeous cats! 😺🐈😸

ClemFandango11 · 22/11/2017 23:47

Mines a ragdoll x Maine Coon. She’s stupid, loving, stubborn and chatty and also very very beautiful! She has favourite toys that she carries about and puts in front of you so you’ll play with her. She doesn’t like tummy rubs, but likes to tempt you in with her super fluffy belly! Not a massive fan of being groomed, but it’s ok you try to do a little each day. I don’t have a massive garden, but she seems pretty happy roaming locally. Shes also not enormous either, which was a surprise given her breeding. I was expecting her to grow huge. Although she’s only 18 months old, so may still be growing.

I’d agree with the pp who feels guilty about leaving them. She’s very social, and although she’s not active during the day, if you are in she’ll stay close by. She also has a way of letting me know how upset she is if I’ve stayed out too long... she’ll be quite verbal and grumble about it!

My faux- Siberian. OK, he's a moggie, but he's enormous and very handsome!
So many gorgeous cats on this thread. A friend has two Maine Coons and they are beautiful, filled out cats.

I've just "awwwwwwwwwwww"d my way through this thread!! I would die for a Maine Coon! I have a Maine cross (all black, doesn't leave me alone so the name Shadow is perfect for him) but I've been nagging the OH for a pedigree one for 3 years now!! We recently got engaged and I suggested he get me an engagement cat instead of a ring!!! Sadly, he wasn't up for that. We already have 3 cats and he's not all that keen on a 4th.........bastard 😏

Here's a picture of Shadow for you all!!

CrazyCoonz · 27/11/2019 13:48

I absolutely love Maine coons. They're such a majestic breed of cat. We've paid a deposit for a couple of kittens, a boy and a girl litter mates. They should be arriving in a couple of weeks when they are 10 weeks old.

They are a complicated breed, certainly not like other breeds of cat. You need to educate yourself a lot before adopting a Maine coon. Here's some things you need to consider: 7 Things to Consider Before Getting a Maine Coon

CrazyCoonz · 27/11/2019 13:49

** Sorry baby brain! They are 10 weeks old now and will be coming to us when they are 12 weeks old. Coons stay with their mums a little longer than other breeds of cat.

dementedpixie · 27/11/2019 13:58

I don't have a maine coone but do have a fluffy idiot

Jayneisagirlsname · 27/11/2019 16:59

My boy is Maximus is part MC. He's dopey, lazy, a great hunter of leaves but not of anything else, a fussy eater and highly adored. He's not a lap cat but loves to be near people. I'd have a MC or a cross again in a heartbeat 💗
