For those who remember I have lost my darling Billy-Bob almost 7 weeks ago. He had fip. I have always loved Maine coon cats and I would love to get one next spring (unless I find another lost kitten). Would love to hear about Maine coon's owners.

This is our fluffy beast, he's apparently part Main Coone. He's very very vocal, and very lazy. He goes between us and the people over the road who for some reason feed our cats. He's very dopey on the road, it worries me, but luckily we live on a quiet road so people drive slowly.

He likes people who walk past to make a fuss of him so he will shout at them, and follow them. He follows us too, we've had to chase him home a few times as he's followed us to the main road. Once I had to carry him back as he started to cross the busy road. He's quite hefty, hurt my arms! And I got a few strange looks. Grin

I am so jealous of you all, I love maincoons and cats in general. But DH detests cats, so it's a no go. I keep hoping that one will adopt me one day

Our sausage. He’s a rescue and either MC or NFC or just massive. He’s very vocal and outdoorsy but an absolute limpet once you’re in the house. Even though he’s not a lap cat he gravitates towards people. I think the only thing against a MC is that I feel guilty leaving him, I do really feel that he dislikes being alone too long - which I’ve not had for any other cat before, they are a sociable breed

Gorgeous kitties 😍

BunniesInHoney · 16/11/2017 22:19

Pedigree that had kittens. Great at hunting, occasionally extremely friendly and affectionate but you NEED garden space. When we lived in London she was miserable.

She loves to catch mice and is amazing at it in the countryside. They can chirp which is cute.

Some cats may be extremely affectionate and loving, but slightly clingy at times.

Fabellini · 16/11/2017 22:22

This is our girl - the noisiest cat in the world. She's adopted ds2 as hers now, and spends most of her time on his bed, or following him round the house.
She's an excellent hunter too, and regularly brings us lovely "presents" Shock

Just adding a gratuitous picture of my Morpheus.
Maine Coons are such elegant creatures... not.
My brother stayed like this for 20 minutes but then his legs went dead Grin

Gorgeous cats!

Obi is huge !!!!!

HemanOrSheRa · 16/11/2017 23:47

Lady - You need to move near Medusa. You can become one of Obie's many wives.

DoraChance · 17/11/2017 06:56

This is Ernie. He is very friendly and loving, particularly with DS - he will come and lean on him if he cries. He’s extremely clever which means he can be quite naughty. He has absolutely no stealth and would starve if he had to catch his own dinner. He’s about 7kg so not massive as they go but everyone always comments on his size, although he eats surprisingly little. I work from home and he will often follow me round all day and keeps me company. I’d go for it, they are amazing cats.

What lovely pics from previous posters too!

Soubriquet · 17/11/2017 07:10

One of mine is half Maine coon

She is stubborn and extremely temperamental.

Sometimes she can loving, the rest you're dirt.

It's all on her terms. She's been living outside the last few months (we got a dog so she packed her bags in protest) but she's been coming indoors during the day time a lot more now

She's a sod, but we love her

I do love toots' tail. It's magnificent.

Soubriquet · 17/11/2017 07:45

It's a thing of beauty and she knows it Grin

YetAnotherSpartacus · 17/11/2017 13:03

Does Obie have time for another wife by any chance? I can afford his tuna/lightly warmed roast chicken / minced lamb of choice ...

PinglePongle · 17/11/2017 13:08

I have 3, all indoor and all different personalities. Really loving funny cats!

Would recommend getting more than one though so that it doesn't get lonely

All these lovely fluffy kitties are gorgeous.

bumpsadaisy11 · 17/11/2017 14:45

I had two incredible Maine Coons, Neo & Phoenix. The were the biggest cat characters that I have ever known.
Neo used to sit at the kitchen table, literally with his bottom on a chair & his front legs on the table, every meal time (he even had his own chair!)
They actually used to speak to us, if we spoke to them, they would meow in reply.
They were the most loving sweet kind caring, stubborn, infuriating cats I have ever known.
Unfortunately we had a serious house fire & lost them both a couple of years ago & are still completely devastated Sad
We will definitely get some more in the future because we feel lost without them Sad Sad Sad Sad

Soupoftheday1975 · 17/11/2017 14:52

My darling bumpsadaisy I'm so sorry :( ❤️

This is beautiful Georgia. She's a rescue and joined up a few months ago. She is very loving - always wants to be near you but companionable rather than demanding. The only thing I would say is they can REALLY leap and climb. Anywhere that's stupidly high up and has you panicking they will never get down without breaking a leg that is where they'll be...
