Pawsitive thoughts for Fattycat's heart scan tomorrow.

I totally panicked when the vet said the scan wasn’t actually till next week so got her booked to a independent cardiologist tomorrow. (One who doesn’t charge extra just to stay with her!) I may be clutching at straws but I think the fluid in her lungs may be due to fluid overload during her dental. As she’s just Too well and respiratory rate is normal. But please keep all your paws crossed for my darling girl.

She’s pretty good. I think I’ve just over complicated it with the treats!

It may be my imagination but she seems much more chilled out since starting the beta blockers. My sister stayed at the weekend and she was nowhere near as nervy as I thought she would be. She’s also been snuggling up to me at night much more. Although that maybe be it’s colder.

I think I might need some of her beta blockers to calm me down. I don’t have anxiety usually, but after this year With both of them, I’m very stressed by them. Though they are worth it!!

Used the pill giver thing. All over in 5 seconds. Don’t know why I made it so difficult! Didn’t add water to it. But I think you are supposed to? Never seen the vets do that though. Pic of her sister for you to admire . She’s feeling left out!

She does look a little grumpy. Wink

cozietoesie · 15/11/2017 00:43

PS - excellent news about the pill giver. Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 15/11/2017 06:42

She’s never grumpy. Pills given successfully again. And I’m not late for work. Hope I’m not going to put her off her morning shower escort routine, by grabbing her as soon as she jumps on the bed!

Just managed to worm Snorg. She was a bugger! Hope she doesn’t need daily medication!

At least it's the easier cat on the meds then!

Toddlerteaplease · 16/11/2017 10:48

Just had a follow up call from the cardiologist, to check how Fatty is doing. Thought that was nice. Asked if Snorg should be screened and she said it would be recommended but up to me. She doesn’t have a heart murmur. And was so poorly at the start of the year that I’m sure any problems would have been picked up. Don’t know if I should or not.

I just don’t know. Could you afford it easily in the first place - and would she be an easy cat to get there?

I’m not sure that the condition is one which comes on and then can be identified thereafter. I seem to recall that it can ‘come and go’. On the other hand, she is a full sister to Fatty and you did say that she looked a tad......full figured in comparison to her. And the consultant said that it would be recommended.

Ho Hum.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/11/2017 15:17

She’d be fine to get there. Her respiratory rate isn’t raised in the same way as Fatty’s. ( I was comparing the two) money isn’t really an issue as I have savings but have already spent £450 on their teeth and the car needed new rear tyres. So I’m a bit reluctant to spend more money. She was. Snuggled up next to my head last night and I could hear her heart quite clearly and it sounded normal to me.

You know her best, as well. Maybe hold off then - but have her scrutinised very thoroughly at her next MOT ? (And have her in ASAP if she presents with the slightest difficulty.)

cozietoesie · 16/11/2017 16:22

She seems to be a generally healthier girl than her sister?

Toddlerteaplease · 16/11/2017 16:52

She has more breathing issues as her nose is tiny and she’s the one that almost died on me in February. But she’s been ok since. I think I might leave it for now. If she had a murmur I would have her tested but she’s not.

cozietoesie · 16/11/2017 16:56

Ah. I had thought that Fatty was the one who had the nose op. Guess I got them confused. Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 16/11/2017 21:22

Nightmare the pair of them. As bad luck comes in threes I hope that is it now. Or I will be rehoming them! (Joking, they are stuck with me!)

How is the dosing going? Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 17/11/2017 19:11

It’s going ok. She’s getting used to it I think. It’s a struggle trying to find the right place to open her jaw because of the shape of her face. I seriously need to get a grip on my health anxiety about them both. Was neurosurgeon other day that Snorg looks bulgy on her left hand side and was prodding her overnight for lumps/pain. It’s not like me to be anxious at all.

I hold her from the back, with my hand round her chest so I can open her mouth with my left hand and shove the pill giver in her mouth with my right hand.

She’s fairly forgiving. And comes back for a fuss after a couple of minutes. She’s much calmer since stating the beta blockers. Maybe it’s helped her anxiety!
