Pawsitive thoughts for Fattycat's heart scan tomorrow.

I totally panicked when the vet said the scan wasn’t actually till next week so got her booked to a independent cardiologist tomorrow. (One who doesn’t charge extra just to stay with her!) I may be clutching at straws but I think the fluid in her lungs may be due to fluid overload during her dental. As she’s just Too well and respiratory rate is normal. But please keep all your paws crossed for my darling girl.

I’ve told Harry he can’t pass on his best tricks for avoiding the v.e.t.!

Toddlerteaplease · 11/11/2017 13:07

I’ve mushed it in with a greenies pill pouch. Snorg will gobble them up but fatty only likes dreemies so I have to actually shove it in her mouth. She’s pretty cooperative, once she’s been caught. The trick is to act innocent and and not pretend I need her!

Twice a day?

poisonedbypen · 11/11/2017 16:11

Do you have one of those pill giver thingies? Our cat is on medication every day for cardiomyopathy & has been since 7 months old. He now waits patiently at 10.30 every night for his tablets & dreamiest. (he's on aspirin & benazacare)

Yes I’ve got an introducer, but because she’s on three tablets it’s easier to do it in one go mushed in with the treat. Plus it tastes better for her. I must admit it’s easier to get it down her than some of the children at work. But I was laughing at myself earlier, lying on the floor under the bed. Trying to reason with her why she needed to take it!

You were .....lying on the floor under the bed trying to reason with her...... What day is this of the new regime: Day One? Shock

Toddlerteaplease · 11/11/2017 18:41

Err yes. It was the second dose.

Unh Huh.

Wolfiefan · 11/11/2017 20:03

If it helps our old girl was on thyroid meds and painkillers for arthritis. It actually got easier. She seemed to accept it after a while and I am not entirely convinced that she didn't figure out it was for her own good.
Cats are scary clever sometimes!

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/11/2017 20:13

It's so unfair for your cats after the start they had. I hope the medication works soon.

cozietoesie · 11/11/2017 20:39

That’s good to hear, Wolfie.

Wolfiefan · 11/11/2017 20:47

Just a hint too. If you use a pill giver I was given a hint. Put a drop of water (literally any more will choke cat) in the pill giver. Then put pill in it. When you drop pill in mouth the water dribbles down the throat and washes the pill down. It does help.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/11/2017 20:48

She’s being very affectionate and will not sit still for long. She’s only had two doses of medication so far but I wonder if getting some fluid off her has made her feel better. My sister is here and she’s usually very wary of strangers but she’s full of beans.

I'm glad she's doing well. Thank goodness for modern veterinary scans and meds.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/11/2017 20:52

I’ve booked them into a cattery when I’m away for the weekend at the end of the month. Slightly concerned about them telling them apart. They said they could last time, but it didn’t matter last time. My sister suggested getting a patch of hair shaved on her leg. Can you imagine going to the vet and asking for that!!

Wolfiefan · 11/11/2017 21:18

Don't suppose they have a chip scanner? Foolproof way to ID

cozietoesie · 11/11/2017 21:19

Well that sounds quite sensible, actually. (Unless she’ll wear a collar without taking it off?)

PunkrockerGirl59 · 11/11/2017 21:29

Sorry it wasn't better news, Toddler
She's absolutely beautiful .

Ruhrpott · 11/11/2017 21:31

Toddlerteaplease I have cardiomyopathy and am also on beta blockers. Hope your cat responds well to the medication.

cozietoesie · 11/11/2017 21:50

Ruhr

But you’ll take your meds !

Toddlerteaplease · 11/11/2017 22:06

She seems to have suddenly got thinner. She had a good brushing with a grooming rake a few days ago, that sometimes makes her feel thinner though. She must have been carrying around a lot of extra fluid! On the other hand Snorg looks like sh s suddenly balloooned!

Toddlerteaplease · 11/11/2017 22:07

Wolfie, brilliant idea. I’ll ask them.
