Do neutered male cats normally masturbate?

Our 5 year old cat has taken to 'pleasuring himself' shamelessly against fleecy blankets. It is quite a spectacle... He finishes off by licking the 'result of his efforts'. Often over and over again. Is this normal behaviour or has he just turned into an old perv? Part of me thinks - fair enough - but it is pretty gross. I grew up with cats and don't remember this......!

I had no idea this was a thing either, Karlos, but our cat has clearly come to it (sorry) late, but is making up for lost time.

Amused and relieved to hear all your stories and that our cat isn't some perverted outlier. I always thought it was only dogs that humped in a rather unfortunate fashion.....

I forgot - Ferocious Cat used to mount a cuddly toy tiger (bigger than herself) pin it down by the neck with her teeth, slobber all over it while squatting and quivering at the rear end, before it dawned on her to do it on me!

We had a horny rabbit who had the run of the garden. He'd hump your foot when you pegged out the washing, and the poor cat would get it too if she lay down in the sun.

My last cat did this. He had a favourite blanket. If I saw him start I'd leave the room to give him some privacy

Mine has never done this. I wonder if he's asexual

The kids all think it's ever so funny the way "Benny spends AGES rearranging his blanket to get comfy!!"

Sometimes I get in from work and find a suspiciously moved blanket somewhere I'm sure I didn't put it.

My neutered male does it daily to a hot water bottle cover. He meows loudly when he's doing it and wants to maintain eye contact with me the whole time. I asked the vet and he said neutered cats can sometimes still have sex hormones present and it's also an attention seeking thing

I have a girl sphynx who hasn't been spayed yet due to health reasons. She's an absolute nightmare when she's in season, so I've found out how to, erm, relieve her by applying pressure next to her tail. She's completely delirious for about half an hour after

My late lamented neutered boy used to climb aboard his enormously fat sister and hump away. They would both stare fixedly at me the whole time. Very disconcerting.

She didn't seem to mind, although I suspect mainly she was too lazy to move.

So my tom is currently not neutered (undescended testicle - we are waiting for the penny to drop so to speak) and I definitely have seen him have a stiffy (dd screaming I can see his willy alerted me) but I really don’t think I have ever seen him banging one out.

My boy is just far too above all of this. But he does sleep around... the house; varying rooms and surfaces and beds. He's currently next to me on the sofa, having sighed with disdain when I asked if he ever has... "feelings".

Oh God! We had a neutered male cat that would hump his much younger neutered nephews. They'd just lie there and purr until it was over. I don't think he actually penetrated them but it was disturbing.

I read this thread on Sunday morning thinking Im glad my 7 month old neutred Tom doesnt do that.

Lo and behold last night (Sunday evening) whilst I'm sat in bed with a fleecy cushion behind me he comes and sits straddling the top of the cushion with his left paws on the cushion and the right ones on my head. Oh, how Dd and I laughed and took a couple of photos of him being cute and sitting on my head like a hat. Then he started kneading the pillow, trying to get comfortable so we thought; but oh no he wasn't, he was sat on my head violating my cushion!

This thread has made me laugh so much!!!! I'm loving the image of the 'nashy' face. My neutered tom likes to march on the spot and dribble on me when I stroke him behind the ears- I thought he was a bit strange but this has reassured me that it could be a lot worse!

My 13 year old male neutered cat does this a lot. I've owned several cats and none have been a randy as he is.
He doesn't produce anything, thank goodness, but it's pretty grim to watch.
I have honestly never known a cat to get that aroused.

My boy maine coon is 4 and hasn't doesn't this.. thank god. But he does have girlfriend cats that call for him outside. He may or may not hump them, I have no idea and didn't realise cats did this

Oh thank god my 7 year old tom doesn't do this. We rescued him from the streets at 2 years old, not neutered. We had him done 4 days later.
