Realised I filled up the last thread with inanity!

Come one, come all, what's your cat up to today?

Mine are pleased that I'm home in time for the end of Pointless. Unfortunately they hate Pointless and would rather sit outside in the rain glowering in at me.

Each I'm sorry.

I sometimes wonder how intuitive animals are, they seem to know what's wrong at times

Hope you're being well looked after at present

Papergirl1968 · 04/11/2017 11:10

Ha, Claws cats have never forgotten the days they were worshipped by the ancient Egyptians and still think it’s their absolute right.
She’s beautiful as is Coco, and the little kittens, and ohhh, every cat on here!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/11/2017 11:57

Each, I am so sorry Flowers. I've been there. It's hard. Do take care. Bless you and Daphne and Dolly and her tail.

TheCatOfAthenry · 04/11/2017 12:18

I’m so sorry to hear about your dad, each.

Want2beme · 04/11/2017 13:26

Tooth they're so wee. Wishing you many catty years together. They're adorable.

Want2beme · 04/11/2017 13:29

So sorry Each. Daphne's minding you. Good girl.

ToothTrauma · 04/11/2017 15:08

Thanks guys Grin they are 12 weeks old but very small. Born in a garden to a pregnant, abandoned, very young Mum who has now also been adopted - and spayed!

They are gorgeous although there is some litter tray confusion going on. I’m dealing with it by producing more and more trays and putting them everywhere they start to scratch and sniff!

The boy kitten looks black and white in the pic but in real life he’s an incredibly dark tabby Allergic!

Flowers to Each - lovely Daphne looking after you.

caoraich · 04/11/2017 16:31

So sorry about your dad, Each. Glad you have a furry friend to comfort you Flowers xxx

I didn't know that male cats cause allergies to flare up more than females. Too late now! 4 weeks in and it's streaming eyes and itchy noses but I can't part with my beautiful panther.

Panther is getting very bitey though. Any advice on what to do? He comes for strokes but then bites if you stroke him wrong. Not a skin piercing bite but a warning nip. Or if he's in a silly mood, which is a lot of the time as he's only 8 months, then he's all claws and nips.

BulletFox · 04/11/2017 20:15

Lots of fireworks going off at present, I'm glad I kept the cat in. She can get extremely disturbed at things like that, hot air balloons are the worst, she started headbutting the wall when she first saw one :)

Ollivander84 · 04/11/2017 20:21

Fireworks hooman? Seen one, seen them all

BulletFox · 04/11/2017 20:24

Olli he looks just like mine! (Albeit she's female. Can't tell very much when there's a tight ball of furry blackness curled up).

So he's oblivious to fireworks?? Mine is a nervy, sensitive, rotund ballerina cat

Ollivander84 · 04/11/2017 20:26

Actually oblivious. He spent 4 years on the streets/living in a smashed up greenhouse so I figure he's probably heard them a lot louder

Allergictoironing · 04/11/2017 20:37

Mine, who last year hid inside the sofa the first few nights when they heard bangs outside, are curled up in blissful slumber on my bed. They were downstairs earlier when the fireworks first started to go off & the only reaction was Boycat looking curiously out of the window for a couple of minutes before sitting in his seat looking pointedly at me as he kneaded his faux mink throw (was mine, now claimed by him of course) in a way that means "tummy rubs NOW hooman!". Cue snoring & dribbling for 10 mins.

BulletFox · 04/11/2017 20:37

Oh bless him. How did you get him? Sorry I've only been here a few months and don't know back stories.

With mine I had already decided I couldn't have kids with my ex and wanted a cat again but didn't want a kitten, I wanted a cat that no-one else wanted

Ollivander84 · 04/11/2017 20:45

Cats protection
Long story. He turned up with two other cats at a woman's house who fed him, and had him neutered and he lived in her broken greenhouse. She helped him survive. When she died, nobody to care for him and CPL took him in
We don't know where he was before then but he lived in the greenhouse for around 4 years
He snap tested FIV positive (but full bloods found he isn't) and snotty with what we thought was cat flu. It turned out to be a tooth embedded in his nose which had been there so long he had constant sinusitis and pain and a hole in his nose
I went looking for a cat and adopted him. Apparently they won't refund on weirdo black cats HmmGrinWink

AtSea1979 · 04/11/2017 21:06

Any ideas? I don't want to use spray bottle as he rarely comes for attention but when he does and gets it he nips.

caoraich · 04/11/2017 21:18

AtSea Maisie can be a wee bit the same, she's 9 months now. Often when she's really excited or I unexpectedly stroke her tum!

All we do is gently pick her up, and place her somewhere else with a loud "NO". Then ignore her for 5 mins or so. It's hard ignoring but it has helped, now it's only when she's really hyper or has had a fright that she bites.

I had a lap cat for about 10 minutes today and then he moved to a box instead

Fiona1984 · 05/11/2017 09:23

Mine were fascinated by the fireworks (I got a good view of a nearby display from the living room. Then they went to sleep.
They're currently rolling around on the bed. I did for a second think I might get cuddles with them both at once, but the kitten wouldn't stop biting his big brother. I'm sure I will once the kitten calms down a bit.
Do they ever calm down? Adult cat was always extraordinarily chilled out, even as a kitten. This new one is insane.

BulletFox · 05/11/2017 09:53

She's driving me insane, she normally stays downstairs but she refuses to be parted at present and chased me upstairs. And stole my duvet

WetsTheVet · 05/11/2017 10:02

We hosted a firework display and bonfire last night for the locals, I feel terribly guilty now as Phineas was very scared. They were a couple of fields away but he was hiding under my daughters bed when I checked. The kitten watched from the window and wasn't fussed at all.

caoraich · 05/11/2017 10:51

Ours weren't fussed by the fireworks either. I stayed in with them but they spent the evening being intrigued by the frost- it was below freezing and I think the first frost Maisie has seen. She kept rubbing her nose in it!

I'm on-call today, 9am - 9am tomorrow. I cover seven hospitals so am based at home, have been in to two already and having a coffee before I head to the third.

However when I took my first call at 5 past 9 the poor caller was very alarmed- Freya was sitting on my shoulder purring loudly. I had to explain "no, sorry, I'm not operating a pneumatic drill/purring at you... it's just my weirdo cat..."

What will you do next year Wets?

Poor Phineas.

WetsTheVet · 05/11/2017 11:13

We host it every year but obviously this is the first year we have had Phin. We have horses and other animals whom get shut in the barns and don't care. Not sure about next year, he may have to spend the evening at work.
