If I gave in though, Fluffy, he might pester for nosh first thing in the morning. Which is NOT ON. (I'm not at my best, first thing.) This one would also likely be the size of a house! Grin

Seniorboy was permitted to proffer the Paw Of Remonstrance after 08.30 but that was an age-related easement. This one has no such excuse.

Allergictoironing · 06/09/2017 20:13

Mine are made to wait until 8:30pm for their supper, though the pleading eyes and pathetic wails of Girlcat are hard to resist - she is behind me now making little creaking noises & trying to make herself look small & malnourished. If Boycat is asleep in his favorite wardrobe (like he is most of the day) he saunters in at 8:31pm precisely & wanders about looking lost until I signal it's time.

Breakfast they can bloody well wait until after I've had my shower whatever time I may wake up

Lanaorana2 · 06/09/2017 20:17

Stay Strong C, you know you will. Better for you and super-secure for N because it gives him a firm framework.

In which to grow in confidence and naughtiness :)

There's only one thing in the basement which is genuinely irreplaceable and about which, I would weep bitter tears if it were smashed. Maybe I'll move it. Wink

cozietoesie · 06/09/2017 23:03

Now moved. Smile

He almost forgot about soup time this evening. Shock

Kibobear · 07/09/2017 01:48

It must be exciting adventures if he's forgetting his lightly warmed soup! Maybe he had a mouse amuse boche Grin

Kibobear · 07/09/2017 01:58

Cozie I need your help as resident Siamese expert....
I understand my slavish duties of sharing bed, standing besides whilst eating, much playtime, and accompanying her in bathroom visits etc. However can I stand my ground in her not accompanying me on my bathroom visits - 'tis very off putting to have said kitty on knee.

I have useless boundaries. I did solve the destroying of the couch by pinning sticky backed paper on in reverse on every side so I guess all is not lost Grin

Lanaorana2 · 07/09/2017 10:04

'Almost' forgot. Grin

He's really enjoying exploring his new kingdom - the Royal Progress is in full swing.

Now's the time for a clearout. Shove every frightful crime against personal taste into the basement and wait for the blissful sounds of splintering.

London is supposed to be balmy but it's blinking nippy. Me and Mr C in bed.

Goodness. I'm no expert. Smile

Many moons ago, I was in the bath while Twoago faffed around on the rim. Then he slipped and fell in. Lordy, it was an awful few minutes until things were sorted out. GrinShock

These days, I draw the line at any coming into the bathroom while I'm there. Toileting or bathing.

The cats are quite OK about it - as they should be. My DBro summed up life with a Siamese by describing a 'companionable co-existence'. And it's true. You have to fit in with their needs but by gum, they also have to fit in with yours.

Just put her out and say 'No', but keep everything else absolutely 'business as normal'. She should learn very quickly. (Siamese do.) Smile

Lanaorana2 · 07/09/2017 12:19

Loads of people have this issue esp first thing when you are desperate for a wazz but the kitty is desperate for brekker. Shut the bathroom door :)

GrinGrinC words fail me. GrinGrin

cozietoesie · 07/09/2017 13:16

You have to remember that they won't stop loving you just because you say 'No Bathroom' - they'll likely regard it as just a mild eccentricity and fit in with your requirements. Smile

Ollivander84 · 07/09/2017 13:23

Ollie has developed some strange obsession with my bath mat Hmm seems to involve lots of sniffing and circling then sitting on it gazing at me Confused
Generally he doesn't go in the bathroom because "no momma, cats NO want a bath"

cozietoesie · 07/09/2017 14:23

Say No. Grin

YetAnotherSpartacus · 07/09/2017 14:26

^ Ha! Ha! As if that will ever happen!

TheLongRider · 07/09/2017 14:32

Long before I had my DD I always thought that having cats would be good training for the toddler years and it was! Just like children you can see cats thinking about what they do next. Just as "No!" works with cats it works with kids.

I

YetAnotherSpartacus · 07/09/2017 14:34

^ You mean it doesn't, usually?

cozietoesie · 07/09/2017 14:34

You have to chastise them on the thought. (Like going on surfaces - you can see when they're thinking about it.) Cultivate that reputation for 'omniscience'. Grin

cozietoesie · 07/09/2017 14:36

Well that's how you do it with Siamese. Smile

YetAnotherSpartacus · 07/09/2017 14:36

Yes, the look (interest combined with innocence) coupled by the tiny twitch of the tail and the subtle move in the general direction ...

Or when you realise it is too quiet.

Ollivander84 · 07/09/2017 14:41

You need a proper "horse woman" voice
I can say "OI!" In a growl that terrorises horses let alone cats Wink
Ollie scarpers when I think in that tone. Stable cat yawns and ignores me Hmm
Horse gives me side eye and stamps hoof in protest

cozietoesie · 07/09/2017 14:41

That famous movie line .......'Isn't it peaceful? Yep. That's what's worrying me - it's too quiet' must have been written by a parent. Grin

cozietoesie · 07/09/2017 14:44

Well you've got to actually mean it, Ollivander. There's no use saying 'Oi'when what you're really thinking is 'Who's Muddy's wee boy then?'

You're just under the paw. Grin

YetAnotherSpartacus · 07/09/2017 14:45

Ollie scarpers when I think in that tone

Oh, go on! When have you ever used that on Ollie :)?

I rather thought it was the other way around ...

Ollivander84 · 07/09/2017 14:48

Oh he jumped on the kitchen counter. Once. I used my voice and he hasn't done it since Wink
I've given up with stable cat, quite frankly she can do what she likes - yesterday that was eating risotto Hmm

cozietoesie · 07/09/2017 14:49

Well there you go. (As far as Ollie is concerned.) Smile
