Executive decision by Mr C.

Current "circuit" is charge the length of the living room via behind the sofa then leap high up on the cat tree (sometimes via a bounce onto the back of the sofa).
Mad scratch at one of the upper scratching poles.
Sometimes swing upside down from one of the platforms while failing to kill the toy mouse suspended from it.
Leap from cat tree to ground, again sometimes via back of sofa but usually not.
Charge out of the room so fast that the turn to the bottom of the stairs is more of a skidding handbrake turn on the laminate floor.
Leap up the stairs, possibly 2 at a time from the sound.
Into bedroom, bounce on & off the bed a couple of times (this is guess work, going by the sounds from above)
Back down the stairs even faster than she went up.
Stop dead at the bottom & stick head into living room. If Boycat is being stroked, flying leap over the both of us to the back of the sofa then vanish behind it, otherwise charge the length of the room & vanish under the table.
Somehow ooze up onto the back of the sofa without me seeing her & lie there staring at me saying "who me? I've been here all the time".

Rinse & repeat a couple of hours later, then at least once after all the lights go out minus the bouncing off the bed - this is replaced by an extra once up & down the stairs.

How many scratches on you? Smile

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/09/2017 18:13

Oh dear. Poor Ollie. What is the time difference between this and the photo on the other thread of you being loved on?

Ollivander84 · 05/09/2017 18:19

About an hour Hmm
Not a single scratch on me, the vet nurse took one look at me and him and swooped him off

Lanaorana2 · 05/09/2017 22:17

Hope you're both feeling better.

Was today uneventful-in-a-good-way C?

Oh he's fine, it was a protest at avoiding his steroid jab. Didn't work. The indignity of having to sit on a puppy pad might have made a lesser cat extremely cross Grin

Puffpaw · 05/09/2017 22:30

Beautiful cat Lana
Relaxing on the bedroom sofa is progress cozie!

cozietoesie · 05/09/2017 22:56

Quite ordinary Lana - I pretended to ignore him and he pretended to ignore me. I've just realised, though, that it's September - and the month I reckoned to open up (most of) the rest of the house to him. (He can currently access about half.) He knows it's there and is very very nosey about it. Grin

Lanaorana2 · 05/09/2017 23:29

Time to get the bunting out? Pose Dbro in front of cozietowers clutching a pair of gold scissors and a mayoral speech giving freedoms of the city? Mr C would approve.

Why not, eh. Temp has dropped in London to 9 with a violent wind, so it's Sep here for sure.

I had ONE DAY off the charity in the past lord knows how many weeks - have been doing 7 out of 7 days - as weedy. Nothing serious, boil on leg, walking a bit Charlie Chaplin. Weaved in today, fiasco. Beyond chaos. No one on paid staff had lifted a finger and we had 200 kg of stuff to sort.

New manager, replacement for the two who walked out last month, muttering about leaving before end of probation period. Second new manager a no-show. All remaining paid staff 'unmotivated', to put it tactfully.

My soul quails - all us volunteers are more than used to grinding work, but this would defeat an army. Thing is, the work is v physical - great when it keeps you fit (boy it does) but not so fun when it hurts like hell and you've lost the power of speech from exhaustion. Day after day. But I don't take defeat easily. So am going to speak to GP about how many hours I can safely do, double it, and see what happens.

I shall do it gradually, .I think. Just getting into the basement might keep him happy. (The Lodger was convinced there were mice down there.) Smile

Lanaorana2 · 06/09/2017 10:42

Newboy will LOVE the basement. :)

I think he is a loving soul, you know, just doesn't know how. He hasn't been awful to you at all. All the signs are so good. His world has changed, and he is starting to enjoy basking in it. He is slowly realising the sun is coming out and warming his soft fur :)

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 06/09/2017 12:47

Well I left the basement door open. He was there within seconds, it seems.

It's terribly quiet now.

cozietoesie · 06/09/2017 13:06

He's back so the mice clearly aren't there today. (I can't see him turning down a free takeaway. Wink)

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/09/2017 13:34

He prefers being upstairs with you!

cozietoesie · 06/09/2017 13:52

He prefers his room, I think. (Especially when the sun is beating down through the windows.) I doubt that I have much to do with it. Smile

cozietoesie · 06/09/2017 13:58

Having said which, he does know that I'm on the top floor at the moment, so he's made a calculation. Smile

Allergictoironing · 06/09/2017 14:19

It's the middle of the day, so any mice are likely asleep. Wait until tonight - the crashing & bashing will probably move to the basement then Grin. He's had a good look round, and probably worked out all the likely routes for mice & the best ambush spots already.

cozietoesie · 06/09/2017 14:57

Well I know that The Lodger was most insistent that there was something there. (I defer to him on these matters.) Only time I ever saw his tail swish was when I wouldn't immediately remove the skirting boards in the basement to allow him to get behind them. Grin

cozietoesie · 06/09/2017 15:21

There's this real old sci-fi movie called 'The Incredible Shrinking Man'. Said man has this nice, friendly ginger tom. And then he shrinks so much that he moves into the doll's house.........

cozietoesie · 06/09/2017 17:43

I had my own supper early. He has to wait for his until 18.00. HUGE display of bad temper! Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/09/2017 18:48

Are we allowed to make cats wait? I thought food had to be served ASAP.

Lanaorana2 · 06/09/2017 19:02

That showed award-winning courage.

My animal insisted on clinging to me all am when the workmen were here, faking fear to get an extra meal, then blew his cover by purring wildy and, er, 'displaying' at the plumber.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 06/09/2017 19:04

Goodness. He has to wait until I give him his nosh. Isn't that standard practice? Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/09/2017 19:08

No.

Lanaorana2 · 06/09/2017 19:09

That clip - wowzer!!!!

Mind you Mr C is so fat it's almost perfectly to scale for me and him as is - the only thing that isn't lifesize is the doll's house which is bigger than my flat.
