Executive decision by Mr C.

There's the whole language-learning thing going on, but if you ask me that's a side dish right now - the most important thing for cat and human people alike is getting the attention, really, esp if you've had a troubled kittenhood.

I nonetheless await the post which is typed by Newboy. Or yr Dbro complaining about 'nuisance calls'. He's a sharp one. Grin

At the moment, he's trying to 'push' the timing of Second Supper. He's on a hiding to nothing there, of course. Wink

Allergictoironing · 17/09/2017 22:36

Oh mine do that, trying to push the timing. Going to be interesting when the clocks change, slowly getting them back to 8:30pm when they think it's 7:30pm. But if I don't, they will sit and LOOK at me in bed in the morning exactly 11 hours after supper time, when my body says it's before getting up time.

Lanaorana2 · 17/09/2017 22:41

Well done. He's starting to push it, good sign again.

I know I might be a little bit indulgent, but when Mr C came he was fed on demand - he was underweight, in my defence. (Also he screamed.) Anyway over time these things level themselves out, I am glad to say, in the end you get a routine that suits both of you. Well, that one can manage at any rate.

But I could never get Mr C below 4 meals a day. I think he was booted out as a kitten and 4 is the magic number he has hardwired into him as the acceptable level of sittings in any restaurant. Something tells me Newboy might be a bit the same - not with number, but with insistence on a certain time, etc. Or, more likely, he's just grateful and over time will tell you what regime it suits him to accept. :)

All my cats had 4 meals a day and didn't get fat (house cats too!) They had cat food in jelly / human food (eg tinned salmon / cat food in jelly / human food (eg bit of honey roast ham). And a little dish with a few cat bisquits in, just in case they fancied a bit of a crunch. One pkt of bisks lasted weeks! I even reversed the routine now and then ie human food first, THEN cat food as I am a saddo but didnt want them getting bored!!!

cozietoesie · 17/09/2017 22:57

Well he 'pushed it' by expressing his displeasure - i.e. 'Missing his litter'. His tray was due to be changed anyway (I was being lazy) so I've just cleaned up and chastised him. Second Supper was bang on time so he can't complain too much about that. Wink

Ollivander84 · 17/09/2017 23:06

Ollie just asked for supper. I suspect there is a secret cat version of here where they report back on us
It was a very polite request!

cozietoesie · 18/09/2017 00:29

I'm just not used to a cat who eats everything in one go. I guess that that's what multi-cat households do to you, especially if you're aware that there's an unfriendly Siamese watching you.......

Madcats · 18/09/2017 09:38

Toddlers one of my neighbours and my SiL had a Birman that looked like that, possibly with longer hair. Siamese tend to have much thinner chins.

This is Madcat2 who isn't nearly as "pointy" as many siamese.

cozietoesie · 18/09/2017 10:45

What a handsome boy! (And such sleek fur.) My first cat was a sealpoint. Smile

Lanaorana2 · 18/09/2017 10:49

Oh dear about the tray. A feisty lad, at least he's got spirit. The key thing is he's not scared of you.

That would really have annoyed me, however :)

This is my fave interpet cat:

'Xu says that he has no way to make the cat lose weight. He has tried to reduce its food, but this makes the cat bad-tempered. It scratches visitors and relieves itself all over the house in protest.'

Oh My Goodness. I hope that those pictures don't assuage your feelings re MrC? Wink

Lanaorana2 · 18/09/2017 10:58

I keep them as The Dire Warning. Grin

The cat's about 30 now, so it clearly hasn't done any harm, except to the owner who must be skint, knackered, but still secretly terribly proud of his mischievous little scrap of fur.

Newboy weighed in at 3.8 at the vets. He might go to 4.1/4.2 or something but that's going to be it. Smile

Lanaorana2 · 18/09/2017 16:30

Mr C has just sniffed flowers I've been given, v sweetly. Was just about to reply confidently re his diet plan when I looked up and saw him chomping through the greenery in the vase.

Maybe now is a good time to talk about denial issues in weight gain :)

He's due at vet in a fortnight re a reduction regime. I decided to wait till the heating was on properly as a sop.

RubbishMantra · 18/09/2017 16:36

I wouldn't be surprised if Newboy was at the 4kg mark now. He looks like quite a little chunk in your most recent photograph.

Lana, I see your Oakland M&S chicken, and raise you a WHOLE LOBSTER FOR A FIVER! I was proud as punch on espying that bargain.

cozietoesie · 18/09/2017 16:56

Seniorboy came to me as a limp wraith of a cat and, it's true, had muscles within weeks.

We'll see. Smile

Lanaorana2 · 18/09/2017 17:27

M you are LOBSTERTASTIC!!! I'm going to remember this retail phenomenon, a direct result of your mastery of shopping skillz, for the rest of my life. That's not a joke, you know how one can tell.... :) drool....:)

Yes, Newboy will fill out a bit with any luck. Probably has already, little muscly fellow that he is.

OP posts:
Vinorosso74 · 18/09/2017 17:55

Lana that poor cat! He is huge, am not surprised he can't lift his head.
I had to get a 9.5kg beast in a carrier one day-luckily he went in easily but I wouldn't have fancied my chances if he hadn't.

cozietoesie · 18/09/2017 19:28

It's the STAIRS that do it. Newboy is up and down them lots of times a day. Smile

cozietoesie · 18/09/2017 20:00

Interestingly, he's suddenly stopped being quite so frantic about nosh. Even left some of his chicken last night. Smile

Lanaorana2 · 18/09/2017 20:32

Now that is another Very Good Development.

He is relaxing.

so am I - got this famous aldi gin on the go as a reward for going on the tube post-bomb. It is a little delicate, unlike the tramp juice I normally favour, but I expect that's because I haven't put enough in the glass.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 18/09/2017 21:11

I am advised, quite fervently, Grin that the correct accompaniment to Gin is Ribena and fizzy water. Wink

Lanaorana2 · 18/09/2017 21:32

Sounds awfully fashionable Grin Does it come in a washed-out beans tin with a reclaimed fireplace on the side?

I've always wanted to make sloe gin, the colour alone, magic potion of comfort and joy.

Good luck with the beautiful boy tonight. Having some mardy backchat re a second serving of roast chicken here.

cozietoesie · 18/09/2017 22:34

Hang tough! Grin
