... yes, but it's really faux eye-rolling isn't it :)

caoraich · 24/07/2017 16:34

TheCatofAthenry - I always thought it was a glaswegian thing but then again I do live with a dubliner!

A dubliner who was so overwhelmed by cuteness that he sent me this instead of doing the laundry today...

Been playing outside much of the day.
Crazycat has been hissing and chasing the kitten so he has been chasing her and it's all rather tense between them. She does mostly just hiss and he wants to play but they are fighting more I think. Urgh. My hope is fading.

But we accidentally left his dangle toy behind when he went on his holidays so I've treated us him to a da bird toy (see picture).

God he's like mine to look at. Have they just been separated then? Maybe he's just having a strop and coming home!

EachandEveryone · 24/07/2017 19:10

She's still there. Any scrapping or just hissing? It took mine nearly three weeks. Daphne does like going out more than before I think she just wants abit of peace.

caoraich · 24/07/2017 21:56

Aww don't worry too much Eliza- maybe it is the testosterone; bloody cat puberty!

Maisie is needing spayed too- she keeps prancing up and down the front window whenever garden-visitor boycat comes past. So frustrating as we can't book any leave to be off with her post-op until August, we both start new jobs then but rotas have not been forthcoming. Grr.

cozietoesie · 24/07/2017 21:59

I'd just have her spayed anyway, caoraich. The alternative doesn't bear thinking about, hardly, if she's coming into season early.

caoraich · 24/07/2017 22:07

She won't be getting outside until our elaborate catio is built (DP and DF waiting until an entire dry weekend is forecast for that one- so maybe some time in 2018...) so I'm not overly worried. We'll def get it done as soon as practicable though.

Freya and her sister were absolute nightmares post-op, managed to get out of their cones of shame, chewed each others' stitches, flailed around on the floor. It was like a Shakespearean tragedy!

cozietoesie · 24/07/2017 22:09

Ah. You'd be too anxious to work then. (If you weren't to hand.)

caoraich · 24/07/2017 22:17

Ahhhh christ they've both freaked me right out.

Sitting in quiet house and they were doodling around the kitchen (hunting for stray Dreamies) then one meowed and both came galloping into living room and jumped up on windowsill. Maisie pawed a bit at the glass and then they ran to the hall. They do that when they hear DP's car pull up, but he's not here and not due home. They're now sitting in the hall staring at the front door, which I've realised I left unlocked.

It's not even dark yet but I've been watching bloody criminal minds!

cozietoesie · 24/07/2017 22:22

So you're getting ready for the Knock of the Axe Murderer? Grin

TheCatOfAthenry · 24/07/2017 22:24

Well call me pure ragin' like a Scotswoman, then!

Cookie is especially cuddly today. She will not be pleased when I bring her for her dental next week!

caoraich · 24/07/2017 22:44

Will she perhaps be..... pure ragin? Grin

The Axe Murderer isn't here yet but they have BOTH taken up residence on my lap and are vying for space. This is very unusual and I am even more alarmed Shock

cozietoesie · 24/07/2017 22:48

It sounds as if the neighbourhood tom has visited outside early. Smile

caoraich · 24/07/2017 22:50

Ah, good shout. I'll convince myself it's either that or the cat-hating neighbour putting her bins out (they rub themselves all over her whenever she comes in, much to her absolute horror!)

cozietoesie · 24/07/2017 22:54

The nights are just starting to draw in - even though it's only July. (The weather and the moon affect the feel of things as well.) You'll likely find that all cat activity starts to pull back/forward to suit. Smile

cozietoesie · 24/07/2017 23:00

P S - I had an aunt when I was young who couldn't abide the feel of fur - she explained it as feeling like hearing the screech of chalk on blackboard or biting on tinfoil.

Guess who Thirdcat made a beeline for every time she visited ? Grin

caoraich · 24/07/2017 23:02

Indeed- the adjective for their preferred running-about times is one of my favourite words- "crepuscular"

I taught it to DP and now when they start scrabbling around at sunrise he will sleepily mumble "aaagh, can you stop them crepuscling..." Grin

EachandEveryone · 25/07/2017 08:11

Do yours run about together side by side almost leaning into each other I wonder what that's about?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 25/07/2017 08:23

Old cat (20, wobbly, fairly blind and craps where he likes) has been restricted to the kitchen/utility room at night for the six months or so fir obvious reasons. He usually sleeps on the kitchen table which we cover with newspaper.
This morning - no sign of cat - until I noticed him asleep on the (slightly oily) griddle pan on top of the cooker. Hmm

Did anyone read Dermot O'Learys tribute? I was in bits!

Allergictoironing · 25/07/2017 13:50

Boycat has just done possibly the largest & stinkiest poo in house cat history; goodness knows why because there's been no change in routine or food. The smell came whafting across the hallway and assaulted my nostrils in the other room within a couple of moments of him slinking past and up the stairs (he always slinks on the stairs, except going down for breakfast).

It was absolutely enormous, a bit softer than usual and a lighter colour than usual as well. I'm going to have to watch for and examine his poo for the next couple of days aren't I? Sad

Don't you mean smell for? :)

Stable cat looks like Ollie's hard-arsed cousin.

Have they ever met?

cozietoesie · 25/07/2017 14:21

Stablecat looks.........tolerant. Smile
